...Mind wondering is a common listening problem that can result in other complications. A wondering mind not only diverts attention form the information that is being given, but it also can infer that the information is not important or relavent to the listener. The speaker can get offended or start creating a rough impression of the reader. Although, listeners can create poor impacts of themselves there is a feasible possibility that as the mind wonders the “listener” could be pseudolistening, faking listening, to show “listening.” Fake istening can cause the speaker to belive listening is occuring without it genually occuring. As a result of fake listening the speaker expects the listener to know what is being said and the listener has show...

...Dear CIO, It has come to my attention that you are wondering why I should secure Windows and our Unix/Linux servers from shortcomings and vulnerabilities. I will explain to you what I plan to do about these. So, you can understand what these are I will explain to you first what shortcomings are and how they work. Next, I will explain what vulnerabilities are and how they work. Then, I will explain to you what my plan of action to ensure our network infrastructure is strong and make sure it stays that way. First, you are wondering what a shortcoming is. A shortcoming is the quality or state of being flawed. What this means is that there is kind of flaw occurring in the network whether it be one of our employees connecting their personal devices to our network to possible steal our information about the company. Same another example is people thinking the company's computers are their owns and using it to share photos on either Facebook, Twitter or Youtube. These are some examples of short comings that could affect the network. Next, your wondering what vulnerabilities is. Vulnerabilities is essentially being open to attack or damage. Now, your probably wondering what vulnerabilities we have on a network. For instance, we could have one of employees could save information not only on our servers but one a flash drive giving away are information to another company. Other examples might be hackers that work inside the company. Another example is when some one attempts to hack...

...activities for guests. Trails, activities, and restaurants are a few of the amenities. There are also spas and botanical gardens. Everything you want from a big town with the feel of a small town. This is an excellent vacation spot to visit while you relax and unwind from the busy lives and stress. With the many attractions around why, would you choose any other place? While the activities available are numerous so are the many problems and concerns that arise on a day-to-day basis. A few of those concerns are guests wondering off and getting hurt by not staying on the paths, littering, and the trampling of delicate flowers and plant life that only exist in this eco system. Other areas such as trail closures and data security are also issues. Amongst the staff blog one of the issues that I have seen is staff worried about guests wondering off the trails and getting hurt. Not only is this a problem for the staff and the guests but the wondering off the trails can also take its toll on the environment around the island. There are certain plants that are only found in this area. There are reasons for certain paths. This is not only for the safety of the guests and staff but also for the life on the island. This is an ethical problem because there are those that do not care what impact they make on the environment and we must find a way to effectively deal with this issues so as not to offend the guest. Data security is also a big issue. Our lives depend on the...

...because God is not the only one asking the question. There is a young child who is missing their father, a wife missing her husband and someone wanting advice is wondering where is Adam. The truth of the matter is too often Adam is locked up doing time, hard time. So mothers are left trying to teach Adam Jr. how to be a man. She is left attempting to tell Adam Jr. what he should and should not do. Little Eve is left wondering what is a good example of what a man should be. Where is the Adam that should provide her protection? Without a proper role model of a male in her life she ends up picking someone just like the one time Adam she knew. Allow me to give you an example of this. An inmate came into my office this week and was wondering why a visitor can only be on one inmate visitation list at a time. I asked why he wanted to know this. “Mr. Young my baby’s mama daddy is locked up and the only way for me to see my baby is she has to bring him to me.” I hope you got what I was trying to convey. Her father is in prison, the man who is supposed to be her role model on what a “real man should be.” She gets involved with a man who is similar to her father and now he is locked up. Now she has a child whose male role model is in prison. Who is going to offer direction to this child? What we should be doing is wondering how we break this cycle. This is only an example of generational curses. There are cases where almost all of the males in the family are in prison in various...

...In the original story, Herbert is the only member of the White family that dies, although he was said to have been “caught in the machinery”. This creates more of a chilling suspense through the video, but also, it leaves the audience wondering how the family died or when they died. Another event that creates suspense in the video adaptation is when Mr.White wishes for 300 pounds, instead of wishing for 200 pounds, like he did in the original story. This creates mystery and makes it more dramatic by using a larger amount of money. Leaving the audience wondering if the family will actually get the money, or if it’s all in their heads. In the video, when the second wish that Mr. White wished for, is what they think, granted, there is a mysterious knock on the door right after he wished. When Mrs. White opens the door, a very bright light appears, but no Herbert. This leaves viewers wondering why Herbert is not there, if that was the wish, but the light is there instead of their...

...Literature Circle In the pages we have read as a group, I was wondering what had happened to the Michael Beadley group. The three topics I will be writing about will be what I was thinking about the Michael Beadly group ,where they might have gone or what place they might have hidden, and about what they are currently doing or going to do at this point in the pages we read. First, I will be writing about what I think happened to the Michael Beadley group in the past chapters. I was wondering what had happened to the Michael Beadley group, which I thought they got attacked by Triffids and they can’t defend themselves because they don’t have any triffid gear, which is probably the reason why Bill and Coker cannot find them. They even could have just left to a place where they could not be found by other groups who might threaten them or the group could have just got a disease that might have killed many people so the other half stay to help the people with disease. This is what I think about what happened to the Michael Beadley group, but I also have thoughts about where they might have gone or what places they might have hidden in....

...the one that’s missing you. There’s a full moon coming in through the screened window. There’s a breeze sneaking in as well, but the moon is the more important detail. But the most important detail, by far, is the one that’s missing; you. I can picture you in the moonlight; I can pick out a strand of your hair from memory. I can hear a smile from your eyes; if I close mine. I can almost feel your skin the moment before it touched mine. But that takes concentration. I’d much rather stand here, bathed in the moonlight and trying to clear my head. Trying to make sense out of the craters on the moon; trying to guess at the temperature of those far away rocks. Wondering if they’d be warm to my touch. Wondering where you are. Bob Dylan is playing in the background; I wish he’d shut up. He makes not concentrating difficult. I take another drag from the cigarette I’ve been holding but neglecting to mention. Exhaling, I notice that there are two sets of clouds in the sky tonight- one moving slowly and the other breezing by. I steady my gaze on the moon, and the cloud system that is almost static to its side. The other set of clouds hides and reveals the moon at a pace that’s almost like a pulse. I feel fortunate to witness the equivalent of an interstellar circulatory system. And sorrowful that there is such a thing. That nature lacks creativity and imitates its...

...women, don’t realize how easy we have it. Yes, there are still ways to go before we will be equal to men, but if when we look back and see how hard women had it, it makes us rethink, and finally comprehend the sacrifices women had to go through, just to get us where we are today. Which left me wondering, how important of a part does our past play in certain poems? Some poems depend upon this entirely, while others like “Leda and the Swan” by William Butler Yeats, use stories from greek mythology. . When I read this poem at home for the first time, I didn’t understand it. After we discussed it in class, I believed to have actually gotten what it was about. Yeats writes the rape of Leda by the god Zeus in the form of the swan. The poem focuses on the brutality of the event, more than the event itself. It shows how one single event is to always connected to something more, something bigger. Many times in life we never realize that when something happens, whether it be good or bad, it happens for a reason. When Yeats ends the poem with “Before the indifferent beak could let her drop?” it tells us she has the opportunity to use her free will, but it also leaves the reader wondering if she does. When something unexpected happens it makes everything different. It makes you become more aware of yourself. This poem helped me become more aware of myself. I began to think critically about everything that has happened to me in the past few weeks and understand that unexpected things...

...glucose (similar to what occurs in diabetes) and increased levels of cortisol (a stress hormone involved in memory and regulation of blood sugar levels). The article also briefly alludes (in the quote at the bottom of page 1) to unspecified changes in brain and immune functioning with sleep deprivation. Intuitively, these results make a lot of sense to me. I know that when I’m sleep deprived for any significant amount of time, I begin to feel physically miserable. I also seem to be more vulnerable to colds and other physical ailments. In thinking about it though, most of the times I’m sleep deprived are also periods of psychological stress (such as finals week). To the extent that there are changes in my physical well-being, I’m wondering whether they are due to the sleep deprivation, the stress itself, or some combination of the two. In principle, a careful experiment should be able to isolate the effects of sleep deprivation by depriving people of sleep in the absence of stress and other such confounding variables. That seems to be what this experiment does, but as I read the article closely, I found myself unsure that the effects it reports are necessarily due to sleep deprivation per se. I realize that a brief summary article like this does not provide all the details of the experimental methodology, but a couple of things that were reported in the article struck me as curious. The researchers studied physical functioning (cortisol levels, etc.) in men who...

...the world, it seems like days take weeks, and weeks take years. You don’t have to worry about when payday is, or how much you will have to spend on groceries that week. You just do what’s fun and know that all you have to do is get up for school the next day. I often wondered when I was young how I would be as an adult, but could never imagine myself as a father, or much of anything else. As I got older, I learned a lot about life, grew, and changed; my father once told me that time goes by faster and faster as you get older. I didn’t believe him. At the time, I was just worried about graduating from college and getting my life started. I now realize how I should have savored those days a bit more. I woke up just the other day wondering where the last ten years had gone. I look back and think, college graduation…check, getting married….check, buying a house…check, having a child…check. I had been living the American dream. But then I thought of the last five years and can’t believe how much different my life is from just five years earlier. Now I look back and think, the loss of a loved one…check, divorce…check, single father…check, a better man?…check. I recently reflected on things, and it’s not been easy over the last 10 years; I’ve been through a lot and had to overcome even more. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything, not one second of it. I thought back on how someone that is a part of you your whole life can be abruptly taken away, and you have to cope...

...how I wanted to be successful and become a business man and have a lovely family. During ENG1D we watched about six movies but the best movie I’ve watched is the Blind Side this thought me that you should never give up In your dreams even if you don’t have anyone to rely on you should always keep you head up and fulfill the dreams even if you live in a place were they put you down due to the fact or based on your skin colour. This movie was kind of similar to a book called A Raisin in the Sun they both had the same meaning but different plot. The only story that I didn’t really get was The Lottery this was a story that had me confused, it also had me wondering why they would do that. I and my group mates won a debate regarding why it’s okay to break the law only for safety and emergency reasons only. This debate had me wondering that some rules in Canada should be lifted for example passing read lights during emergencies and so on. Weave done a lot this semester we read a lot of book and watched a lot of movies and...
