The WAARNG continues to strive to meet yearly mission goals with recruiting qualified personnel, retaining their veterans, and maintaining end strength.
As the ARNG moves into a new fiscal year, the WAARNG begins another successful year in accomplishing their Yearly Training Plan. Officer Professional Development / Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development training, Monthly/Quarterly counseling,

Regardless of new accession numbers, RRNCOs will continue recruiting beyond was has been established. Within the WAARNG Reserve Sustainment Program (RSP), new warriors continue to progress through different phases of Soldier Training Readiness Modules (STRM).
RSP units within WAARNG highlight common task training, academics, and physical readiness throughout different phases of RSP IDT. RSP personnel will train, teach, and mentor warriors
IOT familiarize themselves prior to attending Basic Combat Training. The WAARNG has also integrated themselves with community outreach also known as Community Relations
(COMREL). The purpose of COMREL is to prioritize and synchronize support requests to ensure event objectives are achieved, while minimizing disruptions to unit training schedules through use of an efficient and standardized process.
The WAARNG has also implemented an Apprenticeship Program for newly hired
RRNCOs. The purpose of the RRNCO Apprenticeship Program is to develop proficiency and train RRNCOs on mission essential tasks and to help them become successful in recruiting &

retention. It will also help RRNCOs avoid the difficulties of learning by trial and error and apply newly learned skills in the locations where they will recruit. Recruiting and Retention leaders and experienced field RRNCOs contribute to this process by supervision, leadership, on-the-job training, coaching, demonstrations, and mentoring. Training, accessions and evaluations has been incorporated within the apprenticeship program. Trained RRNCOs, as professional NCOs, should be able to pass through this apprentice ship process and effectively recruit a quality Army
National Guard Soldier. Program can last between five to nine months.
Soldier/Family Welfare Programs are also available for military Families to take advantage of. Through a comprehensive network of programs and services from Family, child and youth programs to recreation, sports, and entertainment, travel and leisure activities.
The mission of the Soldier/Family programs is to serve the needs, interests, and responsibilities of all of our Soldiers and Family members in the Washington State area.
WAARNG Soldiers and their Family members are eligible while on drill status to utilize
Soldier/Family programs. A few programs where Soldiers/Family members can participate in are: Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC), Child, Youth, and School Services (CYS),
Recreation and Leisure Centers, Army Libraries, and Army Lodging.
The WAARNG incorporates training that is relevant, rigorous, realistic, challenging, and properly resourced. New mandatory training requirements have changed how units operate and teach; however, the Army National Guard is an Army that can adapt and overcome. In conclusion, the WAARNG follows the Army Principals of Unit Training: a) Commanders and other leaders are responsible for training, b) Train to standard, b) Train as you will fight, c) Train while operating, d) Train fundamentals first, e) Train fundamentals first, f) Train to develop adaptability, g) Understand the operational environment and h) Train to sustain.

...other training needed to provide these individuals with proper training to be able to find a job. The first step would be to create a statement of opportunity such as I have done this will provide a clear understanding of the possibilities that are present. I would like to start by saying that recently within the past two years I have noticed that there has been a steady loss of jobs all due to organizations relocating to other communities all due to better economic incentives that are being offered from other communities. I have noticed with this relocation of organizations and corporations that it has continued to cause a steady decrease in property taxes which to date are the majority of the funding for the local school district’s budget. With this decrease it has lead to the school district not being able to have the needed funding to support the financial needs of good teachers along with be able to have the needed funding to hire teachers to fill vacant positions from previous teachers that have left because of funding cuts. I have also noticed that because of this dilemma there has been an increase in student’s dropping out of school if you look at data from previous years you will see that two years ago there was only 5% of students that would drop out of school now since there has been shortage of funding for school programs that this has lead to an increase from 5% to an increase over the last two years to a 15% increase in high school dropouts which we plan to fix...
