Government mechanisms are in place to ensure everyone is doing their job properly and doing their part to protect people in care. They ensure that a high standard of safe and effective care is provided. These are policies, procedures, assurance and auditing systems that are individual to each workplace and should be an ongoing internal method of reviewing and certifying that your organisation is complying with standards set out not only by CQC but also ensuring you are meeting set regulations. This means governance mechanisms are very important, they should allow trends to be found, risk assessed/minimized and certify a standard of care. Good governance allows lessons to be learnt, allowing organisations to recognise their accountability and seek the best possible outcomes for …show more content…
Staff always start under a 3-month probation to ensure they are right for the job role and are performing as required. Probation can be extended in certain cases and staff may need to go under performance management. This allows us to monitor and support employees to improve by giving clear expectations and providing ongoing feedback. We try to make performance management as productive as we can and allow employees to fulfill their full potential. Residents risk assessment and care planning is under constant review, we complete monthly reviews unless there is a new risk, or the risk has increased which would result in an ad hoc review. For example, a resident could have fallen, in this case falls assessments and care planning may need to be looked at quickly to reduce the risk of falls happening again and there may be a need to engage with outside professionals for support. This is also an example of information sharing and working in partnership with outside professionals.
