After an analysis of my 3 days food journal, I believe it represents well my habitual eating habits. For instance, on the weekend I am often waking up later, so I habitually eat a breakfast that is more like a dinner than an actual breakfast and eat snacks as dinner. This reality shows up in my food journal. Moreover, on school days, I often do not take the time to make a full lunch, so I often complete or buy my lunch at the cafeteria or at restaurant. Indeed, in the food journal we can see that I went to the cafeteria purchase foods the two-week days. Another realization with the food journal is that I noticed that on the weekend I do not drink coffee while on the week days I drink coffee. In addition, I do not skipped meals during the food

...Which Elements are Important to Customers in Fast Food Restaurants: Food quality, Time, and Price. Introduction A phenomenon anyone can easily observe is that people eat more meals outside their home than before(Kara, Kaynak, & Kucukemiroglu, 1997), and fast-food has increasingly become popular over the past decades (Pereira et al., 2005). When people are short of time, sick and tired of preparing for meals at home, or hatred to waiting, they willingly go out and eat meals. According to some authors (French, Story, Neumark-Sztainer, Fulkerson, & Hannan, 2001), between 1977 and 1995 the fast-food industry had experienced 200% rapid growth whereas other restaurant industry had been grown only by 150%. Adolescents visit a fast food restaurant more than twice every week on average, indicating that out of at least two-and-a-half of the away-from-home meals are eaten by them, and this trend is expected to continue in the future (French, et al., 2001). According to Namkung and Jang (2007), the very first objective of business is to satisfy customers, and in turn, have them repurchase. Food quality is one of the most important reasons that we repeatedly patronize a certain restaurant because after all is said and done, the fundamental reason of going to restaurants is to have meals. Therefore, food quality has received by far more attention from researchers than any other elements of restaurants (Jang, Ha, & Silkes, 2009), and their efforts have been continued on...

Comparison of Two Folate Assessment

...Keng Gee 996104900 Comparison of folate intakes in a population of college students using a Food Frequency Questionnaire and Dietary Folate Equivalent Screener Abstract Although food frequency questionnaires are very strong tools in dietary assessment, more efficient methods need to be created to assess specific nutrient intakes such as folate. The dietary folate equivalent screener created by Nutrition Quest is a very efficient method used to assess daily folate intake. The objective of this study is to test whether or not a dietary folate equivalent screener can be used in supplementary of the food frequency questionnaire. The correlation between the food frequency questionnaire and the dietary folate equivalent screener for total folate intake (r = .70) were correlated but statistically insignificant (p < 0.05). However analysis of previous studies suggests that food frequency questionnaire can be supplemented by the dietary folate equivalent screener. Introduction There are many different dietary assessment tools in determining nutrient intakes. The food frequency questionnaire is a dietary assessment tool frequently used in large-scale nutritional epidemiology studies and has been a cost-effective, yet suitable method for self-administered use for dietary assessments (2) (3). However, the food frequency questionnaire is very extensive and usually takes around forty-five minutes to an hour to complete. When only assessing specific micronutrients, such as daily...

I Day Intake

...iProfile Journal I was to review the dietary intake (DRI), and determine if the dietary intake for the day recorded provides a healthy diet. I also determined did I consume the recommended DRI from each of the food groups, vitamins, and minerals and so forth. The purpose of this paper will allow me to determine whether or not the food I consume helps or harm my entire nutrition and health. It also allows me to scrutinize my personal dietary intake for one day. The way of understanding how the consumption of certain foods helps and harms our body is very essential. Some may feel that the less you eat the better it is being that you are avoiding digesting unhealthy foods but the truth is this is harmful. Even so eating more is not healthy. The best way is by digesting the right foods and food amounts. The two important nutrients for general health are fiber and protein. The daily intake for me is essentially analyzed by the foods that supply the accurate type of proteins and fibers. It became clear to me that by regulating my consumption provides a healthier nutrient ingestion. The following food intake calculates for only one day. On October 7, 2011 my protein intake was on the tolerable altitude of protein intake. My protein intake was 160 grams. This is above and beyond the daily intake of protein of 56 grams. The reason for this is because I consumed a grilled chicken salad from Sonic, orange juice, and grilled tilapia. All of the proteins I consumed on this day were all...

A conceptual model is derived and tested via structural equation modelling. Findings indicate food safety as the most important predictor of attitude while health consciousness appears to be the least important motive in contrast to findings from some previous research. In addition, ethical self identity is found to predict both attitudes and intention to purchase organic produce emphasizing that respondents’ identification with ethical issues affects their attitudes and subsequent consumption choices. Key words: organic foods, health consciousness, food safety, ethical self-identity, structural equation modeling, attitudes and intentions, rural consumers.
