...Aqua Fish Canada Inc. (AFC) To: Guy Mills, President & CEO From: Adam Rice, Controller Date: May 16th, 2014 Re:Report on business strategies to follow to meet strategic goals set by Board of Directors. Executive Summary: Aqua Fish Canada (AFC) is a Canadian owned company involved in aquaculture in the Maritimes, whose mission is to provide sustainable source of fresh, diesase-free fish to domestic and export markets through aquaculture farming. AFC's goal is to be able to diversify into other markets, mainly the shellfish farming market, while also increasing profitability in the salmon operations. All potential investments must also yield at 10% rate of return in order for AFC to approve the project. Three alternatives were evaluated to hep AFC achieve its goals. The first alternative is to build a blue mussel farm in PEI. The second alternative is to build an American oyster farm in New Brunswick and the last alternative is to sponsor project Blue Wave to genetically modify salmon. It's recommended that AFC accept all three alternatives, as all three meet the 10% required rate of return. Minor issues, include a potential lawsuit against AFC for fish which escaped from Site 3, unethical behaviour by Mrs. Maise in advising employees to write down inventory shipment value to please customers, legislation which requires AFC to cover costs of dismantling any owned aquaculture sites, bonus calculation...

...possible and her look only relates to less than half of the human population. Barbie has the perfect, dream world where she has her dream car, house, an impeccable wardrobe, and of course the man of her dreams. Many girls grow up and admire Barbie for her looks and all the materialistic things she has and will probably grow up wanting to be just like her. This can lead to them wanting to dress in mini skirts and short-shorts at a young age and can lead to prostitution in the future. One simple doll can change the lives of young girls and parents may not even realize it. Keywords: Barbie, unrealistic features, young girls “I’m a blond bimbo girl, in a fantasy world, dress me up, make it tight.” Those are some of the lyrics of Barbie Girl by Aqua who sung a song about a Barbie doll and how she lives this perfect, materialistic world with her true love Ken. Looking back into my child hood. I was never the little girl who played with Barbie’s or had an obsession with having every addition. In other cases though, many girls are influenced by the doll and can have negative effects in their lives. Parents do not realize the effects that a Barbie doll can have on a little girl. Parents may think they are buying the perfect toy for their child, not knowing the bad effects that come along with Barbie. This plastic doll affects each little girl differently. It is strange how a toy can have such an impact on a girl’s life. Barbie influences what a little girl wants her parents to buy for her...

...Barbie Assignment I remember having trunks full of Barbies and playing with them when I was a little girl. My Barbies had all different careers and were of different races. My mom even convinced my older cousin to give me her MC Hammer doll. Being of mixed race, my mother wanted me to understand diversity through my dolls. The different skin tones that Barbie had, reflected the diversity I saw in my friends growing up. So for that I think Barbie had a pretty good influence on me. When I five years old, I was rewarded for being good at the doctor’s with a new Barbie. I was so excited because all of my friends had one already. I loved playing with my new found friend, but soon wanted more. After two more successful visits to the doctor’s, Ken and several others helped me to start quite a collection. These dolls were not only toys to me, but an extended family. I spent countless hours with them every day for years. They had a permanent home against my bedroom wall that stretched 5ft long. The monstrous house consisted of four beds, complete with linens and pillows that my mother had made. The kitchen was furnished of dishes, pots, pans, and an array of “food”. The living room had a TV that I made from an old cardboard jewelry box that I drew on and mini magazines. When I was seven, for Christmas my grandma bought me a baby blue Barbie Corvette and it still sits up on a shelf in my parent’s garage. One reason why I want them to keep it is because I think it...

...Executive Summary Globally, the aquaculture segment continues to be the fastest growing food-fish producing segment and for India, the second largest food-fish producing country, it was forecasted that the segment would grow at an average annual growth rate of approximately 7.0% to reach a total production target of 8-10 million tons by 2020. Currently no commercial fish vaccines are available in India; therefore, the macro-environmental factors with respect to the competitive, political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, and legal landscapes, which influence a potential entrant’s strategic business decisions to set up a fish vaccines company, are evaluated. We basically concentrated in this Food Fish because in the last report of Nature Magazine they made a research paper where they said that about 250 types of fishes are vanished due to environment and food pollution. There was limitations of time but we tried our best. Basically in this report we describe about how can food fish can do business in India. This is the opportunity for the new entrepreneur like us. Introduction The target country of this research is India, which is the world’s second largest food-fish producing country (Brugère & Ridler, 2004). In India the inland aquaculture production has increased substantially from 1.55 million tons in 2000 to 3.72 million tons in 2010 (FAO-Statistics, 2010) and is forecasted to reach between 8-10 million tons by 2020 (Paroda & Praduman...

...management/regulations of aquaculture. CATC has six qualified scientists who are providing aquaculture genotyping around the world. The Centre for Aquaculture has one Canadian customer which is Aqua Bounty Technologies and their corporate head office is located in Boston. Genotyping helps aquaculture farmers effectively assess the genetic diversity of their stock. They can also maintain or increase diversity in their brood stock. Genotyping in salmon is the largest industry in Canada. This sophisticated DNA technology is also expanding into Arctic charr and in trout. This service can also help to trace the fish to its origin due to high import in Canada. This technology can help to implement food safety in retail stores. Genotyping technology can also be used by government researchers and other regulatory associations to manage wild fish, tracking and tracing the movement of fish. Furthermore, this technology can also help to regulate recreational fisheries. CATC is in the process of enhancing genotyping technology using SNPs for selective breeding of sea bass and sea bream. This technology would help consumers to find more refined and healthy products in the grocery stores. As the world population is increasing dramatically it will help to increase aquacultures to produce healthy and reasonable priced fish. The Centre for Aquaculture Technologies Canada is in the introductory stage in the product life cycle. Pricing Analysis The centre for Aquaculture has the ability with the sophisticated...

...I. Introduction The Philippines is one of the world's leading fish producer. In 1995, it was 12th among the top 80 fish producing countries with a total production of 2.3 million metric tons, accounting for 2% of the world's 112.9 million metric ton fish catch. The following year, it was 13th among the 51 top fish producing countries with a total fish production of 1.8 million tons. In 2001, the country's fish yield further increased by 166,101 metric tons. There are different kinds of fishes and other aqua creatures like tilapia, tuna, mackerel, talilong, shrimps, seashells and most commonly the country’s national, the milkfish or bangus. Milkfish (Chanos chanos forskal) of bangus as locally comprises the bulk of aquaculture production in the Philippines. Its farming is regarded as the backbone of the Philippine aquaculture. They are hardy and fast growing, and can be raised in fresh and brackish water ponds, pens and cages. Being one of the dominant farmed-species for aquaculture, milkfish farming is geared towards high-density culture system, due to little or no prospect of expanding the brackish water farming area; support capture fisheries production which is on its continuing decline; and the rise and fall shrimps industry, due to disease problem. The industry’s remarkable progress can be attributed to the growing number of experienced shrimp farmers that are shifting to intensive milkfish culture. Various modifications in bangus culture have been developed towards attaining...

...Global Commons: An evaluation of global fish stock health and management. The global commons share many primary resources that deserve to be managed and maintained effectively. The global fish stocks are included in these. Overexploitation of this delicate resource can lead to not only a depletion and extinction of this precious fish resource, but also a depletion of jobs, economic opportunities and revenue. Many countries rely heavily on aqua fisheries and aqua tourism industries as a great source of social and economic growth. Factors such as bycatch casualties, pollution, illegal fishing, unsustainable fishing and unsustainable management have a large part in the rapid depletion of global fish stocks. International policies are in place to effectively sustain and replenish fish stocks in particular The United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea and The 1995 United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement. The purpose of this paper is to critically access the government and academic literature in respect to the fish stocks of the world. This paper also aims to critically investigate the international policies and treaties associated with the Ministry Of Fisheries; that govern the regulations of sustainable fishing and fish stock management. Accordingly, this paper will be divided into four quantitive sections: the first section will provide reference and conduct a detailed review of the literature on overexploitation and depletion of fish stocks in the global commons in response...

...• WHAT-ER World! Intro: Dancing fairy bassets, cows with fins, fish that walk or play dead, slugs that are always dressed up for funerals...these aren’t fictitious characters plucked out of a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, but just some of the incredible creatures that actually inhabit the pristine waters off the southern tip of Manila. Underwater Photographer and diver, Digant Desai takes you on a tour of the magical world at the apex of the coral triangle. Surrounded by muck, discarded tyres and toothbrushes somewhere between a busy jetty and a fishing village, I slipped on my SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) gear and prepared to dive into an unknown world. Diving was no new experience for me, and yet, if there was one thing I could be certain of as a seasoned diver, it was that each dive was a whole new experience. The cool aqua seemed as inviting as always, its hidden treasures still a lure like no other. And yet, even as I allowed the waves to swallow me, this time, numerous doubts surfaced. What exotic scenery would I possibly get to absorb in an area like this? Surely, the bustle would have driven marine-life further away from shore. With twenty-four breathtaking dive spots to choose from between Anilao and Maricaban Island, had I chosen wisely? Gifts from the heart of the ocean But there’s no room for confusion under water. The ocean simply won’t allow it! Like a gifted masseuse, she instantly picks up on frayed nerves and works quickly to wash...

...fingerlings and juveniles were studied under natural photoperiods of 12/12 h light/dark cycle using a complete random design. Triplicate group of 10 fish with an initial mean weight of 8.5 ± 0.1 g and 34.3 ± 0.1 g respectively per tank (measuring 52 x 33.5 x 21 cm). A commercial feed (COPPENS) with crude protein of 42% and ether extract 12% was fed for 8 weeks over four feeding frequencies studied (once, twice, thrice and four times). Mean weight gain, relative growth rate and the specific growth rate were all significantly different (P < 0.05) across feeding levels except at thrice and four times feeding levels. The feed conversion ratio was lowest on three times a day feeding level both for the juvenile and fingerling (0.66 and 0.73, respectively). Although net profit value, in both juvenile and fingerling group are not significantly different, the investment cost analysis and the gross profit between fish fed thrice and four times are equally not significantly (P > 0.05) different. The results of this experiment, both at the juvenile and fingerling stages indicate that fish could be fed three times a day with maximum growth and profit.
