It was a very dark afternoon out, the weather channel had sent out a tornado warning and also a tornado watch for some areas. The Calabasas Community was to be expecting the most severe of the weather. Most of the people in the community left and went to stay with relatives until the storm was over. The Norwood family however stayed home, Craig , the father, had the news turned on for them to know what was going on. Monica, the mother, was in the kitchen trying to make as much food as possible to make sure if the power was to go out they would have enough to eat and drink for several days. Their two daughters, Shelby and Jessie, were going to room to room finding as many candles as possible to light the house if the power was to go out. The son, Tyler, however was not worried about anything, he sat in his room playing video games. …show more content…
“Coming mama,” replied Shelby and Jessie, as they ran into the kitchen to meet their mother. “Tyler!” exclaimed Monica, “I said come here!”
“I am coming, mother!” yelled Tyler, as he stomped into the kitchen with a grouch face.
“I need you all to go get two mattresses and stand them up in the hallway, we are going to go in there and cover ourselves up with them.” said Monica, with an anxious tone.
“Where did you learn that from, mama?” asked Jessie.
“I learned it all from when our local electric co-op came to my school one day and showed us how to be safe in situations like this.” said Monica.
As they were talking the storm got closer and the power had started to flicker, the dad went outside to look around. It was very dark, it was only 4:00 in the afternoon but it looked like it was 10:00 at night.
“We need to take cover, I see it coming!” exclaimed Craig.
