That is a whole lot of oil being released, so the impact that it had on the environment was a big one. Actually, it was the largest accidental marine oil spill in history. Obviously the marine life was affected by the spill. Many fish, birds, plants, and other animals that use the gulfs water were killed by the oil. If certain parts of the ecosystem are damaged, it affects the whole entire environment.
