Communication Channel Scenario I The first scenario states that I am a marketing manager for a company marketing a new beverage. The beverage is selling very well in the United States. My boss is the VP of Operations. My boss has tasked me and my marketing team to develop a strategy to market this product globally. My team and I have one week to present this strategy to him.
After carefully reading and considering the situation presented in Scenario I, I believe the best communication channel to use would be face-to-face conversation (if my employees are local to me) or video conferencing (if my employees are geographically separated). For the sake of this discussion, I will assume that my employees are local to me. With that in mind I will discuss this task with them in a face-to-face team meeting.
I think this is the best method of communication to use because my team has only one week to develop and present the strategy to the VP of Operations. For a task that requires such a quick turnaround, I need to present it to my staff in a quick and accurate manner. We have no room for error or misunderstanding with such a short suspense date. A face-to-face team meeting would allow my staff members to provide quick and immediate feedback with very little miscommunication or misunderstanding. This is because this form of communication rates highest in channel richness (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 358).
When the time comes for me to present the marketing strategy to the VP of Operations, I would also use a face-to-face meeting. In this meeting, if permissible, I would most likely have one or two of my staff members from my team with me to help address any of his questions or comments. This type of meeting would allow me to more accurately respond and make changes or adjustments to our strategy quickly based on my boss’s feedback. The in person meeting would

...Communication Channel Scenarios MGT/521 Management November 27th, 2011 Communication Channel Scenarios In business, how information is communicated is very important and has a lasting impression. Selecting the correct method ensures that everyone is aware of any changes being made and has a clear understanding of how the changes will be implemented. In this paper, the student is responsible for reading three scenarios and responding accordingly. Scenario 1 In scenario one, the student serves as the marketing manager for a new beverage that is doing well in the United States. Now the Vice President of operations wants the beverage to go global and the team must be made aware of product details so they can get started. In this scenario, the best communication channel would be a mixture of external and internal communication. Francis (2011) states, “External communication is any communication between a business and the outside world. Public relations statements, press releases, marketing materials, commercials, and articles and books written by or about the business are all examples of external communication.” External communication would be used to advertise the new product to the outside world. Print ads, television ads, and radio ads would be beneficial to spread the word about the new drink. Internal communication would be used to update the other team members and the best method would be a face-to-face meeting. A face-to-face meeting would allow the marketing...

Communication Channel Scenarios

...Communication Channel Scenarios Senario 1 In scenario one, the vice president of operations charges the manager with rapidly putting together a strategy with his team. The compressed time line for the development of a strategy requires a communication rich channel to enable the team to work quickly with maximum feedback to the effort in near real time. The team must include as many ideas as possible first before breaking off to research the data necessary to build a strong supporting argument for their chosen business case. What communication channel will you use? The best communication channel that will meet the requirements of this situation is a face to face team meeting. The meeting can take place in a conference room or via a video conference, but will be face to face. Using video conference solutions is similar in most regards to a live meeting of the whole team in the same room. Our modern workplace, with dispersed workforce, does not always allow for a work group to be located in the same room. Why is this channel the best choice in this situation? The face to face communication channel is the best choice, because it allows all team members to interact in real time. The team can share ideas as they develop during the discussion and present those real time to the rest of the team members. In this scenario, the team has very little time to develop ideas, and then follow up those ideas with the necessary research to determine which of the team ideas have sound...

...COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENARIOS COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENARIOS Scenario 1 For the first scenario, the ideal channel will be the oral communication. Specifically a team meeting, this is the perfect way to communicate all the instructions that have been provided by the Vice President of Operations. Using this method we can avoid some obstructions or noise that could produce some distortion in the message that we intend to deliver. By doing a team meeting, and having in consideration the time given to develop a marketing plan, with the oral communication is the fastest way to deliver the message and quickly have feedback from the team members with any doubts or suggestions that can be applied to the project. Having said that the oral communication is the best method for this scenario, but in the case if one or more team members could not be possible to be present in the meeting also we have another method that we can use to communicate with each other, this one is the video conference. After all the research work and having completed the marketing plan to introduce the beverage to the global market, it’s time to convey the marketing plan to the Vice President of Operations via oral and written communication. With the oral we can explain all about the plan to the V.P.O. and having his feedback at the same time clarifying any doubts that may arise while making the presentation. With the written communication, is for document all the information to review it or use it...

Scenario

...Communication Channel Scenarios Scenario 1 The communication channel that best suits this situation is a team meeting. This is the best choice because as the marketing manager, information can be relayed in a timely fashion and a quick response from the teammates can be received. With the deadline being a week away, it is vital that quick feedback is delivered. Being that the content is rich in information, the face-to-face communication helps to reduce any misunderstanding. If this issue were to arise, it can be resolved immediately. While relaying the strategy plan to the Vice President, a face to face conversation is also necessary. By implementing this communication channel, information can be presented with minimal time and with rapid feedback, additional changes can be made promptly. Scenario 2 To contact the IT department, a phone conversation would be the appropriate form of communication. The reason for this communication is because it is an issue that has a high demand to be resolved quickly. To inform employees, an email with the new login name and password would be sent immediately. Written communication is the best choice for this routine message because it is concrete and can be easily accessed at a later date if needed. Scenario 3 If faced with the issue of reducing the number of employees in order to stay productive, the proper communication to inform workers of the decision is a one-on-one meeting with each employee. Communication Channels

...Communication Channels Dominick Pennella MGT/521 October 18, 2011 Jim Bingel Communication Channels Mediums for communicating information come in many different forms. Different scenarios, involving varying levels of message complexities, requires a dynamic approach to selecting the type of medium used to convey a message or “communication channel.” The proceeding paragraphs will breakdown three separate scenarios and choose which communication channel would best fit the situation: Scenario #1 In this scenario the VP of Operations has tasked me with developing a strategy to introduce a new beverage into the global market, and I only have 1 week to do so. I must also share this plan with my team and convey my message in a clear and concise manner. In this case, I would have to choose face-to-face communication. The main reason behind this choice is that the timeframe and complexity of the message I need to convey can in no way be fulfilled by alternate means, such as e-mail, IM or TM or even a phone conversation. A message of this magnitude must be in person, so that the use of body language and tone of voice can be utilized to convey urgency, motivation, and seriousness. My message also can be incredibly specific as to what my expectations are, by using physical examples, and possibly training my team. Face-to-face communication is the “richest” of communication methods, and will allow me to “convey a verbal message and receive a response in minimal...

...Evaluating and Selecting Communication Channels MGT/521 One of the most important characteristics of successful relationships is the use of effective communication. Effective communications are characterized by achieving both the successful transfer as well as the understanding of meaning of the information being communicated to the greatest degree possible (Robbins & Judge, 2011). Understanding the functions of communication and the elements of the communication process itself will maximize the probability that messages communicated will yield the highest degree of understanding of the intended meaning by the recipients. A critical element of the communication process that influences the degree of understanding of meaning as much as the formulation of the message itself is the communication channel selected for its delivery. The focus of this paper will be on evaluating and selecting a communication channel based on the nature and complexity of the message to be delivered. The selection of communication channels and the reasons for their selections in the following essay are based off the three Communication Channel Scenarios located on the student website. Evaluating and Selecting Communication Channels Scenario 1 As the Marketing Manager for a new beverage product that has done well in the United States, I’ve been directed by the Vice President of Operations to develop a strategy within one week to enter the product into the global market...
