...Communication Channel Scenarios Senario 1 In scenario one, the vice president of operations charges the manager with rapidly putting together a strategy with his team. The compressed time line for the development of a strategy requires a communication rich channel to enable the team to work quickly with maximum feedback to the effort in near real time. The team must include as many ideas as possible first before breaking off to research the data necessary to build a strong supporting argument for their chosen business case. What communication channel will you use? The best communication channel that will meet the requirements of this situation is a face to face team meeting. The meeting can take place in a conference room or via a video conference, but will be face to face. Using video conference solutions is similar in most regards to a live meeting of the whole team in the same room. Our modern workplace, with dispersed workforce, does not always allow for a work group to be located in the same room. Why is this channel the best choice in this situation? The face to face communication channel is the best choice, because it allows all team members to interact in real time. The team can share ideas as they develop during the discussion and present those real time to the rest of the team members. In this scenario, the team has very little time to develop ideas, and then follow up those ideas with the necessary research to determine which of the team ideas have sound...

...COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENERIOS 2 ABSTRACT Communication within an organization plays a vital role in business functions. Using poor communication or the wrong type of communication channel can have major negative impacts. Good communication skills and the knowledge to identify when to use a particular communication channel is vital in sending and receiving business information. The communication channel scenarios assigned demonstrate the challenges that occur when there is error in communication. The first scenario highlights the risks of not choosing the right communication channel when dealing with important business matters. The scenario also shows what can occur when important conversations take place via e-mail rather than one on one, and how the evidence of the conversations can cause future damage. The second scenario shows how the internet has changed communication and created new challenges for organizations. Both scenarios demonstrate that it is essential to understand the different channels of communication. ...The communication style that I would use with my team to develop a marketing strategy entering a new beverage into the global market would be oral communication. This channel is the best choice because I have to provide the team with details about the product and we only have a week to develop a strategy. Meeting face to face is the quickest way to collectively come up with ideas and provide feedback. To convey the strategy to the Vice President of Operations I would use written communication in the form of an email. This is the best choice in this situation because the marketing strategy would include a number of steps and with written communication we would be able to list the process step by step. Written communication is also the best choice because the Vice President of Operations can also refer back to the communication for future references. Scenario II To contact the IT department I would use oral communication in the form of a telephone call. This channel is the best because I need to speak with someone immediately to find out why the login information is no longer working. I would call a meeting with the 11 employees to inform them about what happened and provide them with a memo that contain the new login and password. This is the best choice in this situation because I need to get this information to the employees so that they are able to log into the computer application. Scenario III To inform employees about the reduction of workforce I would send out a memo...

...Communication Channel Scenarios Dana R Guthrie Management/MGT 521 Chris Boling August 23, 2011 Scenarios Within the following pages are responses to certain scenarios and which communication channel is best. According to Robbins and Judge (2011), “There are two main forms of communication channels; oral communication and written communication.” Within the two forms of communication channels there are 10 different types; formal reports, memos and letters, prerecorded speeches, electronic mail, online discussion groups, voicemail, live speeches, telephone conversations, video conferences, and face to face conversations. Within the following three different scenarios, I will discuss which type of communication channel works best for each and provide a defense to each of the choses. Scenario #1 ‘The character is a marketing manager for a new beverage that has done remarkable well in the United States after its introduction, especially in sports arenas such as football and basketball. The vice president of operations charged you and your team to develop a strategy for entering this new beverage into the global market. You need to take this task back to your team, provide them with the product details, and get them started as quickly as possible because they only have one week to develop a strategy.’ The best communication channel available to interact with the team would be face-to-face conversations. I say this because the team has only one week to develop a presentable...

...Communication Channel Scenarios MGT/521 October 12, 2012 Communication Channel Scenarios The content of this paper will provide details involving communication channel scenarios, which channel is appropriate for the scene, and why the channel was chosen to convey the message. First, communication is a two-way process of reaching an understanding by which information is exchanged either informally or formally by means of a common system of signs, symbols, and behavior. Scenario 1 In scene one the vice president of operations has assigned the marketing manager the task of developing a marketing strategy introducing a new beverage that has done well in the United States for the global market. The marketing managers’ team has one week to develop a strategy. The most effective channel of communication for this scenario would be a downward channel of communication because the marketing manager will be communicating an assigned goal, instructions, a deadline, and details to the team members. The most effective medium that would be most engaging would be the use of electronic communication via video conference because the task has to be completed in one week, is a short notice meeting, and the team members may not be available at such short notice. A face-to-face, upward channel of communication would be appropriate when the marketing manager performs the marketing strategy presentation for the vice president of operations, as this channel will provide an outlet for questions...

...Scenario 1 Concerning giving the team this information a face-to-face team meeting is the best option. This choice is the best option because it will give you the opportunity to not only see the team’s reaction to this new business venture. It will also allow you to brainstorm on the topic and make sure everyone is on the same page. In addition, it will allow you to let your team know the importance of this strategy give the guidelines so that this project is up and running on or before the deadline. Personally, I feel that a face-to-face with the Vice President of Operations is also the proper communication channel. In addition, the teams lead or additional supervisor that you manage should be present as well. This is so you can show off your new strategy via PowerPoint touching on all of the high points for their review. In addition, a face-to-face meeting will give the VP the opportunity to give immediate feedback in the event anything needs to be changed or updated. However, if the VP of Operations sent this information to you via email, and is confident in you and your team’s ability an email with a PowerPoint presentation could be sufficient. Scenario 2 For contacting the IT department, it would really depend on the companies guidelines. However, a telephone call would most likely be the best option. Since this is regarding a system error, the IT personnel will most likely have to verify your identity. This is why the telephone would be the fastest and the best option...

...Communication Channel 1 Communication Channel Scenarios MGT/521 Management August 17, 2011 Professor: Communication Channel 2 Communication Channel Scenarios Scenario I Informal communication channel will be used. I feel that this channel will be a great choice in this situation, because we need immediate feedback and have a goal to obtain with a deadline. Upward communication would be used to convey the message to the Vice President of Operations. The reason I feel this is the best choice is, because this form of communication is being used to provide feedback to higher ups, progress towards goals and relay current problems if any. (Robbins & Judge,(11) pp 344-345) Scenario II Formal email communication will be used to contact the IT department. This channel will be best choice for this situation, because it will be following company procedure for technical support and its’ quickly written and immediately sent. Downward communication is used for employee communication. It’s keeping them informed and providing them with instructions on the new login and password. (Robbins & Judge,(11) pp 344, 351) Scenario III Channel richness would be used to inform employees about the reduction of workforce. This channel is best choice because you will be utilizing different angles of communication to your employees. You want to use written communication which is providing something concrete for them to review. Along with oral communication, which is, letting...

...Communication Channel Scenarios Johnny M. Bush MGT/521 June 29, 2011 Robert Dewhurst Communication Channel Scenarios Scenario #1 – Marketing Manager for a new beverage My communication channel of choice for this scenario is oral communication. This is the best communication channel for this scenario, because it will allow me to convey the project details and expectations to my team quickly. In addition, I will gain the opportunity to answer concerns related to the project details in minimal time. As for upper communication flow to the Vice President of Operations, I will use written communication to channel the team’s strategy. Written communication will give upper management the opportunity to analyze and respond to the strategy's specifics. Scenario #2 – The Manager of a large travel agency The best communication channel for this scenario is oral communication by (Phone); because all company associates use the computer application it is critical for IT to understand the problem, so that they can implement a countermeasure quickly. As for downward communication to my associates, I plan to use written communication by (Email). This will give me the opportunity to reach the whole team at onetime and for each associate to have a verifiable document of the new login name and password. Scenario #3 – Owner of a small editing company Written communication in the form of a (Letter) would be my choice of communication channel for this scenario. This allows associates...

...COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENARIOS COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENARIOS Scenario 1 For the first scenario, the ideal channel will be the oral communication. Specifically a team meeting, this is the perfect way to communicate all the instructions that have been provided by the Vice President of Operations. Using this method we can avoid some obstructions or noise that could produce some distortion in the message that we intend to deliver. By doing a team meeting, and having in consideration the time given to develop a marketing plan, with the oral communication is the fastest way to deliver the message and quickly have feedback from the team members with any doubts or suggestions that can be applied to the project. Having said that the oral communication is the best method for this scenario, but in the case if one or more team members could not be possible to be present in the meeting also we have another method that we can use to communicate with each other, this one is the video conference. After all the research work and having completed the marketing plan to introduce the beverage to the global market, it’s time to convey the marketing plan to the Vice President of Operations via oral and written communication. With the oral we can explain all about the plan to the V.P.O. and having his feedback at the same time clarifying any doubts that may arise while making the presentation. With the written communication, is for document all the information to review it or use it...

...Communication Channel Scenario I The first scenario states that I am a marketing manager for a company marketing a new beverage. The beverage is selling very well in the United States. My boss is the VP of Operations. My boss has tasked me and my marketing team to develop a strategy to market this product globally. My team and I have one week to present this strategy to him. After carefully reading and considering the situation presented in Scenario I, I believe the best communication channel to use would be face-to-face conversation (if my employees are local to me) or video conferencing (if my employees are geographically separated). For the sake of this discussion, I will assume that my employees are local to me. With that in mind I will discuss this task with them in a face-to-face team meeting. I think this is the best method of communication to use because my team has only one week to develop and present the strategy to the VP of Operations. For a task that requires such a quick turnaround, I need to present it to my staff in a quick and accurate manner. We have no room for error or misunderstanding with such a short suspense date. A face-to-face team meeting would allow my staff members to provide quick and immediate feedback with very little miscommunication or misunderstanding. This is because this form of communication rates highest in channel richness (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 358). When the time comes for me to present the marketing strategy to the...

...Communication Style Case Study First Scenario The first scenario is describing an aggressive behavior from a staff RN (Robin) towards an assistive personal (Rashad) who was just expressing his opinion during a team meeting. Robin intimidated Rashad with her aggressive comment to the point that made Rashad feel frustration, but Rashad did not respond her back; he stayed quietly. Instead, his response was passive-aggressive when he began to plan how to take revenge in future working situations. If I could improve this communication, I would do the following changes: Perhaps, she had a bad day that she explodes against Rashad, but she should not let her personal feelings to interfere with her interactions with others. Definitely, she needs to be more respectful. She needs to learn to calm down and relax before expressing her opinions. She should not raise her voice, neither to interrupt or made offensive comments about others responsibilities; she should not sub-estimate the role of others. In sum, she needs to understand the concept of effective communication within teamwork. In the other hand, Rashad was apparently passive, but very frustrated because he was afraid to respond to that comment. He should understand that he is an important part of the team, and his role is equally important than hers. He should tell her with normal tone of voice that this is not the appropriate way to talk to him; we all deserve respect, and state the purpose for being together in the meeting...

...Communication Channel Scenarios MGT/521 Management November 27th, 2011 Communication Channel Scenarios In business, how information is communicated is very important and has a lasting impression. Selecting the correct method ensures that everyone is aware of any changes being made and has a clear understanding of how the changes will be implemented. In this paper, the student is responsible for reading three scenarios and responding accordingly. Scenario 1 In scenario one, the student serves as the marketing manager for a new beverage that is doing well in the United States. Now the Vice President of operations wants the beverage to go global and the team must be made aware of product details so they can get started. In this scenario, the best communication channel would be a mixture of external and internal communication. Francis (2011) states, “External communication is any communication between a business and the outside world. Public relations statements, press releases, marketing materials, commercials, and articles and books written by or about the business are all examples of external communication.” External communication would be used to advertise the new product to the outside world. Print ads, television ads, and radio ads would be beneficial to spread the word about the new drink. Internal communication would be used to update the other team members and the best method would be a face-to-face meeting. A face-to-face meeting would allow the marketing...

...Communication Channels Melody Tice-Baird MGT521 April 22, 2012 Dr. Ronald Johnson Communication Channels Choosing the right form of communication channel to effectively deliver a message to the appropriate audience is important. It is not uncommon for the sender to pick the wrong communication channel simply because they want to choose the easiest and quickest method possible. Based on several scenarios, I will be discussing the best communication channel at different levels. For Scenario 1, the most effective communication channel I would use would be a face-to-face because I only have one week for my team to develop a strategy for entering a new beverage into the global market. Since time constraints and product details are vital to developing this strategy, the face-to-face communication will quickly facilitate questions, ideas, concerns, and feedback from the team resulting in commitment and support. More importantly, each team will have assigned tasks and a concrete deadline for task completion. As a marketing manager, I have selected both formal reports and face-to-face communication to convey the team’s new strategy. These are the most effective communication channels because it allows me to provide the vice president a detailed written outline on the development strategy for the new beverage. However, the complexity of this new strategy requires oral communication to reduce confusion and misunderstandings. (Robbins, pg 14) Lastly, I have the advantage...

...Communication Style Scenario Analysis Evelina Grigorian Professor Horowitz HCS 350 3 June 2014 Scenario #1 In the scenario from checkpoint 8-4 from Clinical Delegation Skills, Rashad, a nurses aid, was very wrongly degraded and yelled at by the registered nurse. The belittling attitude that the nurse had with the aid was unacceptable, and very unprofessional. The nurse’s choice of communication style was aggressive, while Rashad responded immediately in a passive way, by not speaking up or acting in his defense against her actions. However, internally Rashad wanted to plan a way to get the nurse back, and mentally planned to not “do anything without being told”, which would be more of a passive-aggressive style of communication (Hansten & Jackson, 2009, p. 283). However, Rashad’s best bet would have been to be more assertive and active in his voice, to not allow the nurse, or any other member of the healthcare team, to degrade his worth. The work that aids do is unparalleled to anything else, and the nurse should acknowledge and respect that, not be rude and unprofessional. Both communication styles were incorrect for their own different reasons, and caused more tension than anything else. Being polite yet assertive and professional is the best way to ensure the working environment is calm, smooth, and the colleagues are all understood, respected, and appreciated. All of that, in turn, leads to appropriate communications within the setting. ...

...Running head: COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SCENARIOS Communication Channel Scenarios Mar 29, 2012 Communication Channel Scenarios FIRST SCENARIO The first scenario states that you are a Marketing Manager for a beverage company that wants to sell its product globally. The Vice President of Operation has given your team the task to market the beverage worldwide and you only have one week to come up with a plan. You are given all the details of the product, and what channels of communication would you use to rely this to your team? Further, what channel would you use to convey your plan back to the Vice President of Operations? Given this scenario, I would use the formal organizational network called all-channel. All-channel allows every member on the team to correspond with each other. This type of channel is fast, moderately accurate, and has a high satisfaction rate among the team (Stephen P. Robbins, 2011). A good example of all-channel is a meeting in a conference room. There, a manager could give the task to the team and everyone can give input on how to go about doing the project. Everyone on the team will know what the rest of the team is doing and what is expected of him or her. After the market strategy has come together, I would use the chain channel to communicate the plan back to the Vice President of Operations. The chain channel tightly follows the official chain of authority (Stephen P. Robbins, 2011). Using the chain channel ensures...
