The first person I chose to interview was my brother Jeremy. He said, “I believe the time of six days that the Bible speaks of in Genesis one is correct.” Also, my brother Jeremy believes in a young earth and life because he has studied carbon dating and believes it to be inaccurate. Although in the interview my brother admitted we look similar to apes he believes in a divine creation from God and not a big bang theory. He said,” I believe we are so much more advanced than apes and we couldn’t achieve this without God being incorporated somehow.” Jeremy said, “I definitely believe Adam and Eve were real people because I believe in the Bible fully. I also believe in the word as much as I do in the one true God.” I really was shocked how much fun the interview was we just agreed on all levels and had good fellowship together through the process. My co-worker Holly was my second interview. Holly said that she believed Genesis to be more of a story to inspire and not really a means of judging time of creation. My response was, “So you don’t believe the bible to be literal?” Holly said, “No I do I just have trouble believing creation took just six days.” Also, Holly believes that carbon dating is accurate and has trouble believing in a young earth, which isn’t millions of years old. Holly said, “I believe the earth and life is millions of years old due to the sediments being tested by carbon dating.” My response was, “Well I understand, I have thought about God possibly creating things at certain ages to progress things quicker which I believe God may not have started everything at age zero.” Holly said, “Well I’m still uncertain but I could see that occurring.” Holly also believes that evolution could have occurred due to adaptations in species. My response to her was, “So you believe that humans advanced through adaptations without intelligent design after a big bang?” Holly responded, “Well no not really I’m just on the fence I guess I believe in God but I also believe Darwin got some things right when he found out about adaptations of birds.” I responded, “Well some of those adaptations were just temporary occurrences which didn’t carry over to other types of the same animal.” Holly then responded, ”Ok I never found that out.” Holly believes that Adam and Eve were real people but she isn’t quite sure how they came to exist exactly. Holly is in my prayers and I am in process of giving her the come to Jesus talk. My third interview was my friend Eric. Eric said, “I believe in the Gap Theory and also I believe the time in Genesis one isn’t meant to be literal.” My response was, “How does everything else in the Bible get to be literal but when it talks of time all of a sudden it couldn’t be literal?” His response was, “Well I’m just not sure I have trouble believing in such a short creation time.” Eric just like Holly believes in an old earth and carbon dating’s accuracy. I asked Eric, “Why do you believe science over the Bible.” Eric replied, “Well I believe the Bible is meant to inspire and not to be literal.” Eric also believes that apes are ancestors of man. I asked Eric, “Did you know that the fossil records to prove that are inaccurate.” Eric replied, “I’ll have to research that.” Eric said I believe that Adam and Eve were real people because I have hoped to find faith from the beginning. Eric is a good friend. I’m trying to get him straight but he is a handful.
