The main point that I took from this passage was that things happen unexpectantly. If you have a dream entertain it, because you never know where your pursuit will lead you. Russell looked at writing as something that was done by only the rich. He never imagined that becoming a writer could be a career that he could potentially get paid from. What I took from this was that he treated writing as a hobby or something liked he liked to do. Although writing was Russell’s dream, he still only thought of it as an Interest until he met Mr. Fleagle.
