...Cosi “The Australian drama Cosi, and its themes, is a reflection of the characters’ immediate world, as well as the world at large. Explain this statement with reference to the text.” The Play Cosi, written by playwright Louis Nowra, is about members from a mental institution, who with the help of the protagonist Lewis are presenting an opera called ‘Cosi Fan Tutte.’ The opera tells the story of two officers, who pretend to leave for war to test the fidelity of their lovers. The themes of madness, attitude towards the mentally ill, transformations and growth and fidelity and love are portrayed through the conventions and techniques of symbolism, play within a play, setting and characters. Readers are positioned to respond to the immediate world and the world at large with complete madness, as it seems the world at large is a world apart from society. The play explores the theme of madness through the convention of setting. The idea of an inside world and outside world is shown through the symbolism and paranoia of society. The dark, derelict burnt out theatre is a metaphor for the world at large, and the drama that is enacted on its charred surface is a reflection of the larger dramas taking place outside. The outside world is noticed to have fear about the spread of communism, the mass casualties and the war crimes, for example the massacre of civilians, the torture of people and the rape. Readers respond to the absolute madness at times with confusion, as it’s hard...

...23 September 2015 Risks Worth Taking? A Reflection on the Effects of Memoirs The primary purpose of my research paper is to present a cross-section of the current conversations taking place around the way memoirs affect the writers who publish them. Based on my research, it appears that the effects tend to involve emotional and psychological consequences, as well as legal troubles in some instances. The discovery of this conversation helped me to refine my research topic into the question, “Do the benefits of publishing a memoir outweigh the risks of their effects for writers?” This research explores the positive and negative effects of memoirs on their writers to determine whether or not the risks are worth the rewards. Although writing a memoir can result in lawsuits and family discord, it more often proves to be therapeutic and can be the starting point of a nonfiction writer's career. What if I told you that memoirs are incredibly important to our society, because they document the human experience in such an honest way? Although they are valuable, they can also be risky. One key issue is that a memoir’s admissions risk causing major drama for writers, including legal trouble. In addition, they can be a catalyst for burning bridges with former employees. They can also potentially destroy long-term personal relationships. In this paper, I work to discover if it is worth all the drama to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. As I began my research...

...I wish Stern would string together games that have engaging gameplay, innovation, amusing quotes, and (dare I say it) clever and polished code. They can do it! They have had flashes of greatness and have made a handful of games that can stand side by side unashamed with the B/W greats. But unless LFS was involved in the game in a major way as of late, you can just about forget about the game being enjoyable. And maybe move forward of the 90s with the overall presentation of the pin. It used to be that I was very excited to see what new features the next pin would have. From the late eighties (when I started playing a good amount of pin) to the late nineties, most Williams and B/W games brought something new and fun to the table. The system 11 games were enjoyable for the most part - I played tons of PinBot and Cyclone, and we loved it when ES, Taxi and especially Whirlwind (with the great Millions Plus) came out. Nothing deep, but solid, fun games with nice use of sound, ramps, displays, flippers and rules. And a huge step forward from games in the 70s/early 80s like Wizard, CF, Flash, EBD, Fathom, Xenon, BH, etc. Then WPC games came out and B/W was on fire. Wizard modes, stacking, DMD animations, diamond plate to keep the playfield beautiful, the divine, responsive, fliptronics flippers, way improved audio (especially with DCS). Dummy heads that interacted with you, balls magically swept across the playfield on their own by ingenious use of underplayfield...

...single player game stand out to you? A) FUN. This may be obvious but the most important part about a good game is whether is fun to play or not. To me, a fun game is game that has mechanics that work together to create interesting dynamics, and has a level design that properly challenges the player in the use of those mechanics. B) VARIED. One of the things that define a good single player game, or any game for that matter, is how the game’s systems prevent stagnation and repetitiveness. If a player is going to spend many hours playing a game the experience must keep evolving and demanding the attention of the player in different ways. When a game becomes repetitive a player will lose all interest and the game will fail. C) IMMERSIVE. The ability to create an experience that’s immersive. By this I mean how the game’s mechanics work in conjunction with the visual style, the music, and the story to create a cohesive experience. A good game can have solid mechanics, but a great game will try to mix that with other areas. 2. What single player games have exceptional player or AI systems and what makes them so great? I think that all Zelda games have great player systems. The success of the Zelda formula, in the realm of player systems at...

It’s basically soccer, but instead of getting knocked down and landing on the hard ground or turf, imagine diving straight into the water. The shoe can be adjusted in size and taken anywhere, whenever you want. Water soccer could be the perfect game for any occasion, whether it’s just a day at the beach or just for fun. Plus it would be a lot more enjoyable than playing on the sand. The game could be taken lightly and just for fun and could be played with any friends or family. ...bit more fun when I was a student, if I had to compete against some other students.Recently, however, I find that competition is not for everyone. Most students really enjoy the sense of play, the sense of fun in beating or trying to beat their opponent in a silly competition, but for some kids competition evokes the exact opposite effect. Some students just shut down - they don't see the point of playing when they have no chance of winning. I decided to make a list of things I think are good and bad (my pros and cons) about competition in the class. And then accordingly, I would decide whether it's a good idea for a given situation or not such a great plan for the lesson. Pros: 1. Most kids really enjoy the "game" aspect of a competition. Fun = good for learning. 2. This is a great way to get the students to actively participate in the class. They get really involved, and just from the involvement they learn more than they would have by sitting and just passively listening. 3. Great for the bright and fast kids. If they're usually on the border of boredom, a game / competition will get them motivated to start thinking again. 4. Lets students have a sense of success. 5. If done in groups, can really develope comradeship with the other team members. 6. Some students work best under pressure. Competition is the perfect source of pressure. 7. Works better for older kids. Younger kids seem to take things very personally, and cannot distinguish between playing a game and reality...

...Analysis of “Children Need to Play, Not Compete” Sports for children in the United States have increased dramatically over the past three decades. Many believe that parents and coaches are becoming too involved in youth sports practices. In the essay “Children Need to Play, Not Compete” by Jessica Statsky, Statsky states her opinion that children should be focused on playing the game and having fun, instead of focused on winning the game. She also states and supports how parents and coaches are becoming too involved and not letting the children play. This is resulting in physical and mental harm to the child. Statsky’s essay is convincing and very well structured. She does an excellent job supporting her opinion throughout her essay. Statsky believes that children should be focused on having fun, instead of winning the game. In her essay, she states that “winning and losing may be an inevitable part of adult life, but should not be a part of childhood.” Instead of making the children focus on having fun and playing the game, adults tend to pay too much attention on the result of the game. She claims that too many adults are beginning to lose sight of what really matters and making winning the most important goal. Parents and coaches play a major role in contributing to this because they often apply adult standards to a children’s sport. This harms children physically and mentally. The adult standards applied force children to do physical actions that are bad for their growing...

The gamification process involves the proper application of game mechanics, game features and game design with significant consideration given to the user experience and behavioral motivators [2]. The game design is the core element for a successful gamified process. Many criteria for computer game design could also be applied in this area, e.g, game flow theory[3]. It wasn’t fun but in the end I was going to be just fine. In 2016 I was playing football for my school and I really enjoyed it. We were practicing on a monday afternoon and I was practicing with the cornerbacks. We were practicing tackling and I was up to be the dummy. I got hit it didn’t hurt any more than usual but after a little bit my head started hurting. It went away so I didn’t worry about it and then I missed practice on Tuesday because I didn’t feel well and we had a light practice on Wednesday. So the next day was Thursday a.k.a game day and we were playing Prairie we got crushed but every time I hit someone or got hit my head started hurting but I didn’t do anything because I thought it was just the way I landed. ...was to create a 3rd person game in a jungle and learn to create a game because I thought I had the background knowledge do so. To accomplish this I used Unity and researched. I spent many hours crating the game so that I would be perfect. I created a game that I felt satisfied with because of the terrain and the movement mechanics, but I also thought that this game did not meet my standard because of the errors and the village that I was unable to complete. Since I needed to learn about creating games in Unity, I read articles on the web, and I watched videos. The articles taught me the different functions of each code and the videos had the step-by-step process of how to do it. Since the only thing I knew how to do was programming in C#, I needed to research how to create a terrain. When I looked at some articles in Unity, I found that creating a terrain does not require any programming skills, and the articles also showed that when programming in C# the terrain was classified as a game object. After I learned the codes for writing a game,...
