Flappy Bird's Now Officially Game over

...to quickly retitle it Flappy Bird. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. This game was very common to most teenagers where in they waste time just to be in high score. It was very viral that became the next Angry Birds and next Temple Run. Months after he released it, Flappy Bird shot to the top of the charts, drawing even more players, which made it even more popular, which drew in even more players. Millions of people were downloading Flappy Bird at its peak, and Nguyen was raking in $50,000 a day from the pop-up ads that appeared during gameplay. The concept of the game is just very simple: You tap the screen to make the bird fly, release to dive down and contrive through the gaps of the green tubes that was styled after those of the Super Mario series. The gaps were appealingly wide, many times the height of the bird. But because the bird moved so fast and dove up and down so quickly, makes it very more challenging. Because you get just one point for each pipe cleared, your high score is likely to be in single digits, if not zero....

In summer, people are looking for something romantic and attractive. Therefore, RPG – Role-playing games is the best choice for this summer, especially fighting games Yellow hat I also agree with red hat. Fighting games are not only for men but also for women. Some fighting games don’t conttain element of blood, wound or death. Therefore, it still appropriate for women. Sailor moon is one example. Furthermore, some fighting games teach us about morality. Particularly, some games’ plot talk about hero/heroine battle against monster, evil for saving the weak. Benefits of Video Games

...Benefits of Video Games English 223 D 12/5/2012 Intro I have played video games since I was five years old, they have been a huge part of my life. They have made me the person I am today for better or worse, but I believe for the better. They have helped me significantly in my social life. They helped me make friends, and have allowed me to have a common ground with people I would other wise never have anything in common with. It allows me to meet new people and keep in touch with friends in far off places. The challenges that video games have presented me have taught me how to analyze the situation quickly so I can react just as fast. Also I have learned a lot of random facts from video games about the real world. Many of the situations in video games have connections to the real world and thanks to the simulations of real life in video games I know how to react to certain situations or perform certain task appropriately with out actually ever doing them before. I believe video games have many benefits to offer everyone, they have been great to me and I am sure they can help everyone. Video games are deemed as toys with no apparent value but to waste time. This is very untrue, video games can be very beneficial if used properly. They can increase analysis and problem solving skills, they allow people the ability to keep in touch with their friends from all around the world and even make new ones because they have a shared interest, and they can...

Rhetoric

...Dylan Weber Kim Priest English 101 Rhetorical Analysis During the beginning of this article, Tom Bissel has a back and forth comparison of his opinion about the video game Fallout 3, and telling his imaginary children, Kermit and Hussein, what he was doing the day that Barack Obama was elected to be our first African-American President of the United States. He tries to make an argument that even though there was a widely-known national, and even global, event that took place, he felt like playing the open world game of Fallout 3 was just more important. He goes on to say, “And so, my beloved Kermit, my dear little Hussein, at the moment America changed forever, your father was wandering an ICBM-denuded wasteland, nervously monitoring his radiation level, armed only with a baseball bat, a 10mm pistol, and six rounds of ammunition, in search of a vicious gang of mohawked marauders who were 100 percent bad news and totally had to be dealt with. Trust Daddy on this one”. This analogy of two events shows that beating a video game like Fallout 3 was just as important as watching the election of the 44th President of the United States. And while the excruciating detail of the game makes it seem like there was a lot of responsibility on his hands and he makes it sound like an assertion, it wouldn’t matter in the end, because we all know it was just a virtual world, and he missed out on reality. His anecdote was very detailed, however, and I’m sure if there was anyone who was skeptical...

What Happened to All the Manuals

...of 1990, and I’ve seen a sharp decline in the amount of information that is provided in game manuals. I have picked 2 different game manuals from different eras to compare and critique. I looked up the manuals for Call of Duty: Black Ops and Super Mario Bros. The first thing I notice is the size of each. Mario is twelve pages and CoD is only 6. As far as content, the manual for Super Mario Bros very nice description of the plot of the game, a complete description of what each of the four buttons do, as well as how to play and what a user may encounter while progressing through the game complete with pictures to back up what is in the manual. The only plus I could find about the Call of Duty is that it had a table of contents, something that Mario was lacking. It has a very basic explanation of the menu screen and the different game options given. Anyone that has played the Call of Duty series knows there are several more game options in the sub-menus that aren’t listed. Most of the manual for CoD is warnings and licensing agreements. The organization of both manuals is very good, starting at the point of making sure to turn the system on, followed by a picture of the controllers and a description of the buttons. The Mario manual, being much more in depth, is still organized in a way that would...

An example of an external stressor is a catastrophe. Catastrophe is an unpredictable, large scale event that can create a magnificent need to adapt or adjust your lifestyle. ...Thursday the 3th of April Sometimes I feel like I am drowning Nightmare in Haiti: It is a nightmare for families in Haiti living as they do today. Lack of food and water, poor hygiene, and poor environment leads the Haitians to harder life. Many people have lost a family member which makes them weak and lost. By Caroline Holm Madsen Haiti today: Things changed, people got homeless and many people lost a family member. It is just three years ago the earthquake hit Haiti. Over 220.000 people got killed and more than 300.000 got hurt. Many houses were destroyed when the earthquake hit Haiti and today many lives in tents or the remains are used for rebuilding a lot of the houses. Many cannot afford to build a house, to support the family or to get an education. The poor get poorer and Haiti becomes the new Congo, which were the poorest country in the world in 2009. Congo had a GNP of 330 per. capita income. The Haitians live in an unclean environment. Bowl movement and rubbish are scattered across the streets and people become seriously ill. Family visit: For few weeks ago, a BBC crew visited a family of nine members who lost their home and two family members in 2010. They are now only seven family members today. We got into the family’s tent and in the corner we saw two kids, at the age of three, lying under a blanket with hundreds of swarming flies around them. It was dirty, it stanched, and it was humid. We were asking one of the boys who lost...

2012 Year to Come

...I thought 2011 was a pretty eventful year. Various tyrants and despots got their comeuppance, publications were closed down, our leaders brought us closer to financial collapse all while the views and influence of the pencil pushers and jobsworths were further marginalised. But enough about the company I work for. In 2012 the ‘fun’ isn’t going to stop there, as it’s due to be a bumper year of events again; my personal highlights are below: The leadership of 4 out of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council (China, France, Russia and USA) are preparing for elections/transitions. Although you could argue Putin never really gave up power, China is facing the biggest overhaul of its leadership for a generation, albeit set to be completed in 2013. All eyes will be on London – The Queens Diamond Jubilee, another Mayoral Election (only the 4th in it’s history) and the Olympics will be coming. The legacy of the stadium is to yet to be decided, as is the pay deal for London’s transport workers, never mind the issue of thousands being unable to resell their unwanted tickets. I’m not greatly enthusiastic about the games so I’m quite happy to watch the only 10 seconds I care about from the comfort of my sofa, however the exhibits and festivals showcasing our culture, in and around the world’s greatest sporting event is definitely something we should acknowledge and celebrate. Not only limited to London, closer to our head office, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and New Order...

Intro to F1

...! Alec Robinson Mr. Blake English 2 October 23, 2012 Introduction to Formula 1 Robinson 1 Ever since I was a young boy, racing, cars, speed and design have always interested me. I use to love looking in magazines at the latest Ferrari’s and other exotic sports cars. To me cars are like a big piece of artwork. One can express and relate oneself to a car and how it is designed. Every single little detail on the car adds to the entire piece of artwork. If one line shall be wrong, then the whole car will look wrong. I think of a car, as a big painting. For example, if that I draw an ear too big or an arm a hair too short, the whole painting will be ruined. Same rule apply’s when you are designing a car. This is why Formula 1 interests me so much. One being that the cars can go at an unheard of speeds, two being that it is a race to see who is the best driver on the track, and 3 being that the cars have a very unique design that makes them go as fast as possible. The danger that occurs when racing these cars at these very high speeds fascinates me very much, and how if a driver makes a single mistake, big or small, they’re life can be taken away from them in a split second. Not that death interests me, but more for say the skill and technique used to maneuver and drive these amazing pieces of automotive art....
