...Creativity as I see it By Mohiuddin Abro BS35 2936 (Note – The following account is that of a personal nature. The things I find “creative” may differ from that of the reader) Creativity. It’s a word that has more or less fascinated my whole life. Oxford dictionary defines being “creative” as involving the use of imagination or original ideas in order to create something new. If that is to be believed, then our childhood is the most imaginative phase of our lives. I was born on 14th of August 1988 to a Sindhi father and a mother migrated from Aligarh, India. In a time when preference was given on one’s own ethnic group, my parents were innovators and trend-setters. It was the mixing of two very different and unique worlds, brought together by a bond of marriage. I like to think that this affected me and my outlook on life – because even to this day, I feel I have an identity crisis in progress. I remember hearing the word creative for the first time when I was around 8-10 years old. And I didn’t get it. I didn’t get what It wholly means, what it denotes to. Maybe I was at a tender age to fully grasp the concept, but gradually, I began to associate it with a medium. And that was films. Creativity and films are words that I have always connected together; because it was through movies I understood what creativity can aspire to be. The art of making films, and watching them at a film theatre. It’s the film plots that can guide us out of our lives and provide supreme escapism...

...Angelo Munoz LifePro3000 04/22/15 In the future, 15 to 20 years from now, I predict there to be a machine that will diagnose any illness/injuries and cure them all at the same time. In order to use this machine you must have a form of health insurance that requires you to have a barcode embedded in your skin. The machine will scan the barcode. The barcode will let the machine know your DNA, blood type, age, previous health records, etc. After scanning your barcode, you will lay down and it will then scan your entire body. This process will let the machine know any and all illnesses and injuries you have acquired. Once the machine knows your health issues, it will proceed to cure them within minutes. This machine will be known as the LifePro3000. The LifePro3000 will impact society greatly, both good and bad. If you cannot afford the health insurance required to use the LifePro3000, you will not receive full medical attention. This will be how the government controls the population. The lower and middle classes will have a shorter life expectancy due to not having any health care. This machine will also put people working in the medical field out of a job. For example, doctors, nurses, and pharmacy technicians. All that will be needed for this machine to work is restocking of medicines and a reboot after every patient is cured. ...

...Can you see what I'm talking about? Heather E Harper BCOM/275 May 7, 2012 Scott Romeo Can you see what I'm talking about? Demonstrative communication is nonverbal and unwritten communication through things like facial expressions, body language and tone of voice. Just like anything else in life, there are a number of positive aspects as well as negative aspects to this kind of communication. Communication as such can either be effective or ineffective and positive or negative for both the sender and the receiver. Successful communication is not only the sending of a message, but also the receiving of that message the way it was intended. The use of unspoken communication such as facial expressions allows the receiver of a message to form an opinion on a number of things. For example, if a speaker is excited, passionate, or happy about what they are speaking on, it will be apparent by the look on their face. If that speaker is tense and pacing back and forth with their hands in their pockets, it would appear that he or she was nervous or anxious. Even the speaker’s attire can be a form of unwritten nonverbal communication. Let’s say the speaker is a pastor or a preacher, and it is Sunday morning and he is preaching his sermon in a T-shirt, cut off jean shorts, and flip flops. Opinions will vary in the congregation. Ultimately the preacher’s attire sends a message to his congregation without one spoken word. It is nearly impossible to avoid using demonstrative...

...Paper Dr. Ben Wright The End Of The World As I See It When I started to form tiny fractions of memories, China’s booming economy, its open-door policy, and big social reforms began taking places as it leaped into the 2000 millennial. All these changes lead to a more vivid and intermixing culture where novel lifestyle, alternative thoughts, and "non-traditional" religions like Christianity can thrive. I was lucky to be standing at the crossroad where China started to embrace different cultures and various religions. Thanks to the opened-up culture atmosphere, I was exposed to the clash of cultures between western ideology and traditional Confucianism thoughts. The word “apocalypse” was not even in my dictionary previously until Hollywood introduced it to me in the most dramatic ways I could possibly imagine, and ever since my speculation of the Apocalypse never stopped evolving. From more unrealistic predictions involving in zombies, Godzilla, and DNA-modified prehistoric killer dinosaurs, to more practical speculations like nuclear war and ozone depletion, I was constantly updating my Apocalypse view. With my increasing understanding of the mechanism of how the world functions as a whole, I realized that a global hot war is imminently possible since politics can exert a strong influence on the global situation. In a sense, the transformation China experienced was a direct result from the power of politics. In this essay, I will establish the following hypothesis: The world...

...Present Education as I see it: Someone approached me to teach his ward some mathematics or rather to supplement what could not be comprehensively deciphered from the notes from the plethora of private tutors (I don't know whether the notes are photocopies of age-old yellowish original manuscripts written in the last century and passed on from generation to generation). I am not blaming the notes or their authors rather I have the highest regard for both. But what a young impressionable mind in early teens need to appreciate is the beauty, thrill and magic of a subject. For example, in Mathematics the student should be exposed to and told about the interconnecting web that different streams of mathematics offers and how an insight of the interconnection of different streams of mathematics makes learning a seamless fun and that cannot happen if the teenager is considered as a raw material in a factory devoted to production of identical finished goods at the highest production rate attainable so that in given time the maximum number of students are churned out through the machine called a tutorial. I was horrified when I found that the student in question is reading from a book of MCQs which is like a question bank and not even sure of the name of the text books let alone read, read and ingest, digest and internalize the contents of the text book that has been the text book to students for the last hundred years or so and still considered to be the last word in the subject. ...

...How do I see myself five years from now? By year 2018, instead of being an astronaut which I cannot fail to remember as my ambition when I was little just like any other kid of my age, I shall have been an alumnus of CvSU getting my certificate in electrical technology. I also see myself in the corporate world applying the skills and knowledge I have in my chosen field and along with the stable job I have is the wellbeing of my family. In the first place, who would not want to help their family and by some means repay the hardships they’ve been through just to support your schooling? Similarly, I also see myself and my family not experiencing the problems we’ve encountered in the past years especially when it comes to money matters. Instead, we shall have been living a comfortable and happy life. Five years from now, aside from support I give to my family, I also see that by this time I have met the girl whom I can spend my whole life with. Moreover, I shall have also saved a certain amount of money, visited many places and have experienced some leisure for myself, let's say, vacations, out-of-town trips, mountaineering, etc. What’s more important is that by this time I see myself believing in the words my loved ones have told me: Through the education that we can acquire, we shall realize that we are not powerless in the future; that our choices will bring us to certain goals. And this is what my degree will provide me. PRAYER Almight God, we praise your Holy Name and...

...Alec Agullana Personal and Public Speech How I See Myself How do I see myself? Well, I see myself as a lot of thing. I try to be a friendly and kind of person because I like the way you tend to get treating back from other. Like the golden rule says "treat others how you want to be treated", I always live my life according to that because I don’t like the feeling of being disrespected. I am the type of person to tell you straight, meaning if you're doing something wrong, I'll be that person to confront you and tell you that’s not right. I do have a short temper, so if anyone pisses me off, I like to settle it and put it all behind us. I am very competitive when it comes to sports so I tend to get in your head by calling you names, talking trash etc, just to win. I am a very funny and weird guy when you get to know me, but I don’t make friends easily, you have to gain my trust because I was let down a lot these past years. You make think we are friends, but really we are just acquaintances. I do believe in reincarnation and I believe when I am reborn into this world, I am here to better it everytime so make the world a better place. When you have that feeling of "deja vu" I believe it is because you have experienced this in your past life(s). I also see myself as an outgoing and adventurous individual. I like to take risks, hike, surf, dirt bike, cliff/rock jumping, sneak into hotels just to go to the pool etc. I love the feeling of energy you get when you do something crazy...

...convince themselves that what they want to happen will happen. This effect travels far beyond the mind. As hope strengthens ones mental ability, it allows a person to fully utilize him or herself. This hope is both a drive and inspiration. It works for positive and negative causes, but it does work to strengthen and empower a person. In the novel, Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown, several characters are empowered by hope; a hope that is the inspiration that causes people to be all that they can be. Robert Langdon, a scholar of religious symbology and professor at Harvard University, made a life changing decision based on hope. Langdon was phoned by a total stranger in the middle of the night. This stranger, Maximillian Kohler, was demanding to see Langdon in person. Langdon rejected this demand, but he soon changed his mind after being sent a fax of a dead body. Branded on the dead body was an eerie symbol both unknown and familiar to Langdon. Langdon recognized the symbol to be the symbol of the ancient brotherhood of the Illuminati. Langdon, and other Illuminati experts alike, have spent centuries trying to find this ancient symbol. At that moment, Langdon agreed to meet Kohler's...

...is that the Vatican Bank operates within the Catholic Church, an organization with its own tradition of financial ethics developed over multiple centuries. Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical, Caritas in Veritate represents the most recent expression of Catholic thought relating to financial ethics. This article considers whether these scandals directly contradict the ethical stance of the encyclical and whether this in turn undermines the Vatican Bank’s ethical standing. The Vatican Bank: What is it and how does it work? The name ‘Vatican Bank’ is a somewhat misleading name as it implies the Vatican Bank is heavily integrated into the Holy See (the microstate consisting of Vatican City). In fact, the Vatican Bank is a privately held bank, rather than a state-owned bank, and therefore its assets are not directly connected to the Holy See. Despite the Vatican Bank’s position as a private financial institution operating within the Vatican, the Bank is managed by a council of cardinals and the Pope is the Bank’s sole shareholder. The Bank is also officially monitored by the Vatican’s Financial Information Authority and any profits the Bank makes are left at the disposal of the Vatican. Unlike other commercial Banks, the Vatican Bank does not have any...

Checked out from school library on February 1st 2. Summary card a. The Vatican City is about to explode. Eyes of the media and the people from all over the world are watching in horror. And in the critical moment something nobody expects happens… p 593- 600 b. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 II. 1. Characters Robert Langdon – a Harvard professor of religious symbology, that becomes a witness of the resurrection of an ancient secret society known as Illuminati. A very intelligent, sharp-minded, and a warm –hearted person. I really like this character because of his ability to understand the situation and try everything to help others. Quote: “Religions are not born from scratch. They grow from one another. Modern religion is a collage… an assimilated historical record of man’s quest to understand the divine.” (p 108) This quote represents one of the views on religion in this novel. As a man, that studied different kinds of religions all his life he looks at it only like another myth, but respects it’s influence on people. Vittoria Vetra – A beautiful particle physicist working in the world’s greatest nuclear research facility – CERN. She and her father had a goal to connect science and religion, by scientifically proving that God exists and almost succeeds in it. She helps...

...Marketing Communications (SEC. 101) BENETTON UNHATE CAMPAIGN BENETTON UNHATE CAMPAIGN Benetton is supporting the “Unhate” foundation that contributes to the creation of a new culture of tolerance. While I am fully in support of this cause as our world definitely needs more tolerance in today’s era of hate and rivalry against each other. But still I find the ads offensive. The concept of unhate do not involve world leaders kissing each other on the lips. Maybe a kiss on the cheek would have been served the purpose more effectively than on the lips. Moreover I don’t think that the concept of unhate can happen while criticizing the beliefs of two of the world’s biggest belief systems by having the Pope kiss the Sheikh of Al-Azhar. Or maybe they want to show that tolerance starts with respecting the other person with different belief. I see the controversy in the idea. Moreover Benetton is a good quality clothing company of fashion industry. So I think this ad has been used by the company as a tool for fashion statement as company’s brand image and the cause they are supporting are not alligned to each other or compatible to each other. It's easy- it's marketing. They knew this would get people talking so they took advantage of the situation. It's not like their primary goal was to spread love and peace...well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. All the pictures displayed were fake and not real where world leaders were shown...

...In Emily Dickinson's poem, "I Like to See it Lap the Miles," she uses personification, alliteration, and extended metaphors to enhance her writing. First, Emily Dickinson uses personification to make her writing more alive. Personification is when you take something that isn’t living, for this case, a train, and give it human characteristics. For example, she uses, as the poem states: "And stop to feed itself at Tanks" this clearly shows how the train, an important part of the poem, is "feeding" itself at the tank, really referring to the train refilling its tanks so it can continue to move. Also, the poem states: "And lick the Valleys up -" this quote shows how the train is "licking" the valleys, even though trains cannot lick. Therefore, the quote really means that the train is taking a lot of space out of the valley. Plus, the poem states: "Complaining all the while" this quote above shows the train is "complaining" and once again, since a train cannot complain, this really shows the train blowing the whistle to announce its arrival. Hence, this is one reason why Dickinson uses personification in her writing; to make her writing more interesting....

...Kim Nguyen 2/17/16 HCM 3020 002 Case Study 1 The group that I was put in was group number two. In our group we discussed the cost and benefits of high turnover and how to reduce things. These are increases cost of turnover are since company’s hire new employee they would need to be trained. By that employee would need to stop what they are doing and take their time to train others. Companies would need to spend money on supplies since employee need to use things to get things done. Supplies would include name badges, tags, uniforms, and badges to get access to the office when it is locked. When companies hire they need to spend money for background checks as well as medical screening. Some companies even get employee cell phones to keep in contact or emergencies or even need to communicate. Since people quit from their job this company would be short staff which makes it a low quality of work. The benefits of reducing turnover would be high productivity, lower of supplies, quality of work increases, and time management. In the case the company would spend less money. The cost of turnover rate is that we wanted to change the managers. By that we want to improve managers in order to be professional and how they can be better managers, more training for them, loss of replacement of managers, and give more benefits. In group one I believed they didn’t really say anything. They have stated to bring moral down, and to keep employee motivated. By keeping those motivated have...
