My life in the US Air Force
I have spent the past nine years of my life serving in the best branch of the US Armed Forces, the US Air Force. I will discuss how it has molded me into the individual I am today. I have been able to work with the most intelligent, caring, and hardworking characters the US military has to offer. My job has also afforded me the opportunity to travel the world. I will discuss my decision to join the military has had the most impact on my life thus far.

I left my hometown on 13 Dec 05 for Lackland AFB, Texas to begin basic training. I didn’t know what to expect other than a lot of yelling and PT. We arrived about midnight and in processed our respective units. I remember this day like it was yesterday. A Training Instructor loaded us on the bus and transported us to our living quarters. We got 2 hours of sleep before they awoke us by yelling and screaming. My Training Instructor wasn’t a tall and intimidating male. Instead, her name was Tech Sergeant Martin. A 5’1 Hispanic female with an impeccable uniform who carried herself with a no-nonsense attitude that I had never seen in a person. She was in tip top shape, fearless, motivating, and quite blunt. From the day she took us in, she taught us the custom and courtesies of the US Military, and how attention to detail was very important. She taught us to be thorough and accomplish all tasks appointed to you by your superiors. I knew this trait would apply in the law enforcement career field as soon as I got to the police academy and also just everyday life. I see some of the same traits TSgt . Martin had in myself.

In my 9 years of service I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel the world. I began my career training in Texas and then spent a year in Montana. Another 12 months in South Korea and 24 months in Italy. I’m currently in Washington State I have been here a little over 4 years. Over the 9 years of service, I have endured 4 deployments, with the drawdown and US pulling thousands of troops out of Afghanistan, hopefully deployments to the Mideast will slow down for service members. I’m blessed to have worked with the brightest, funniest, and most caring people in my career. There is a special bond between military members that is indescribable. I have friends and co-workers from Texas, New York, Florida, Washington, California, and Rhode Island. It’s great to see their outlook and views on life. It’s a wonderful melting pot of cultures that serve our country.

I have been lucky enough to see third world countries and personnel up close from driving down the roads of Ethiopia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali, and Kyrgyzstan. It’s sad when you’re walking the streets of these countries and you see little kids and adults searching for leftover scraps or begging for money just to purchase a loaf of bread for themselves and their families. It breaks your heart into a million pieces that all you can do is spare a dollar and move on. I have always been thankful for everything I have, but after traveling to certain parts of the world I am even more thankful.
Another heartbreaking incident occurred was when I was leaving country X. An individual passed me a note begging us to take him and his brother back to the states with our crew because there is no hope for him and his people in his country. All he wanted was the opportunity to provide a better life for his family. It’s sad to see the citizen’s living conditions in some parts of the world. I have no idea how they survive and make it to the next day. I am so blessed and thankful for a job where I can provide for myself and my family. The Raven program has opened my eyes so much and I will always be thankful to be a part of a great community.

My My Life Impact

...At a very young age I had to grow up fast and help my mom out with the kids. It was five of us at the time, our dad went to prison and left my mom with everything. When my mom went to work I had to be a mom when she was not there at times. I had to put away my teenage ways and become a parent. It was very hard at times because my sister's and brother had respect for me instead of our mom. I got devastated at times, but I pulled it together. I had no life because I was being a parent to my siblings. In high school I was a very troubled teenager who did not have a sense of direction. My grades were not good the first 3 years of school; it was up and down from there; but I always got through it somehow. My last year of school I pulled it together and made honor roll the whole entire year. At the end of the year I received a reward for my accomplishment. At that moment I felt very important that year. After High school I enrolled in college as a criminal justice major, everything came back to me and I fell in the same situation that I was in when I was back home. When I left home to go to college that was the first time I felt like I was on my own, I did not have to be a parent anymore, and I was only responsible for myself. The two years that I had attended I was not ready for college. My focus was having a life because it was taken from me as a child. I enjoyed being a free with no curfew . The school suspended for six months, I never went back to school. At that very moment that...

The Impact of Technology on My Life

...‘The Impact of Technology on my Life’ Technology is so much apart of our lives that we could not imagine a life without it. Technology has helped create the world that we live in. The world is a different place than it used to be, even 40 years ago. The internet has been a huge advance. It has allowed people to become more educated than ever. Information is so accessible. As a student of fashion I find the internet a necessity. Fashion is never ending and there is always new information to discover. The internet is the only way to be up to date on the fashion world because it is so fast paced and changeable. I wouldn’t know half the things I do about the fashion world if it weren’t for the thousands of websites dedicated to it. As someone who wants to be involved in the world of fashion I need to be up to date with trends etc. and the best places to look are certain informative sites like Style.com and londonfashioweek.com. I need to know all the new look for each season and I need to be able to identify the designer who created those looks. The only way of keeping so update is by doing a daily or weekly search online for all the new trends and fashion news. Of course I’m not the only one who is learning things on a daily bases from websites. Millions of adults and students are learning new information or skills everyday online. Personal Essay: Ffa's Impact On My Life

...Just as Eminem states, “The truth is you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Life is a crazy ride, and nothing is guaranteed.” He is pretty accurate about this. You might have a feeling of how things will go, or plan you path, but the honest truth is, no one knows what speed bumps they will hit on their journey of life. You also never know who will jump out of nowhere and become one of the most important people of your life besides your family. For me this person came into my life at probably the best way possible. FFA brought many people in my life who will have a significant impact, but not many that will ever be able to leave my life. However it did bring a certain individual that made the most meaningful impact on my life so far. FFA brought Cody in my life and from the start I knew he would be around for a while. Cody’s’ impact on my life, or his Interdependency started our relationship stages off rather quickly. Interdependency, “is the quality that makes a relationship interpersonal, or the actions of one person have an impact on the other.”...

Three Strategies That I Will Apply in My Personal and Academic Life, the Impact, and the Effectiveness

...information, organize it in a specific way to make it easier to locate and to remember, and associate it with related information. For example, in my personal life, this strategy would be useful for sorting and saving important emails whether at home or at work. There are times when my inbox is full of information - inspirational, motivational, tips, and up-coming events. At work, information on new banking policies and procedures or product launches are all usually filtered down via email. It is sometimes difficult to refer to the information quickly when you can’t remember when the email was sent or who sent it. Since reading this chapter, I have started to save specific email information as word documents grouped under different folders. This has proven to be effective for linking related topics in the respective folders which makes locating the information quicker. In my academic life, I will first note the topic to be studied and pay greater attention to the learning objectives. This would then make it easier to skim through the chapter and specifically note the more important material and review that first as well as to research any related topics by using other resources. The chapter also noted the importance of paying attention to any information in bold type and any illustrations. This strategy would greatly increase my knowledge of the topic and improve note-taking. It would also assist in remembering the useful information. Therefore, this would be effective for...

...our culture and our vision. Our daily life is constantly dealing with new information that changes our perception of life. We are living in a world of endless challenges that leads us either to success or failure. Furthermore, the most important feeling that we deal is impact and it is a broad term that could have an infinite meaning. According to me, impact is an emotion, an effect, or a force exerted by technology, events, laws, news, family, social life, music and personal life experience. On the first hand, I will elaborate what impact means personally to me then I will explain what does impact mean with respect to community and finally a global version of impact. First of all, I believe that impact has a direct effect on me and my decision making. It also depends on the intensity of the impact. People that I meet or deal with on a daily basis affects my life. Narrative

...So let's talk about a positive impact that has happened in my life. I would have to say that the most positive and influential impact in my life was the birth of my daughter. Some people in the military might say that going through basic training or being stationed at their first duty station was the most positive impact. I, on the other hand, would say that it was my daughter. Two years into my military career I realized what it meant to be responsible of another human's life. When I was going through my pre-military years, I never thought I would ever want a family. I joined the military in early 2010 and I went to Ft Bragg, NC. After a year being stationed there, I met my wife. We got married, bought a house, and lived rather comfortably for a young couple. My wife had always talked about a baby, but I wasn't really into the idea. I was still young and I wanted to live like I was still in high school. I wanted a care-free life with little responsibility.  In November 2011, my wife informed me that she was pregnant. It was 1:35 in the morning and I had just arrived back home after a weeklong field problem. I will never forget what i said to her, "I have to go outside now." I was in a mild state of shock. My life had just changed and at that moment I was terrified. What am I going to do now? Am I even going to be a good father? I would soon find the answer to all my questions. August 16, 2012 was the day my beautiful daughter was born. I felt accomplished and nervous all...

Science Meets Real Life: Unit 10 Final Project

...Meets Science Real Life 1 Science Meets Real Life: Unit 10 Final Project Lashundra T. Jones Kaplan University SC300-09 Professor Morris December 5, 2010 Science Meets Real Life 2 Science Meets Real Life: Unit 10 Final Project With life you never know what to expect, a famous actor once quoted in a movie Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get. (Forrest Gump, 2000). That was an understatement if you were to ask me! But what most individuals dont realize is that life and science go hand and hand. We use reasoning to denote certain things about people or places. We even use the scientific method to solve everyday problems without even realizing it. Take a look at two of my life scenarios and see how I applied the scientific method to each of these problems and came up with my solution. After that we will take a ride and see why I cannot live with or without science. So hold this should be an interesting journey. As I started my entrance into my home one night after getting off late to find that the light to the front room would not come on. I asked myself two questions; why did the light not come on and what could be wrong with it? Here is where we use the scientific method in our lives without even giving it a second thought. After I asked those two questions I had to do some research and come up with a few good reasons or in science terms (construct a hypothesis) as to why the light did not come on. After careful consideration I came up with two hypotheses...
