...Rating agencies, such as Fitch, S&P and Moody's, commonly use debt-to-GDP ratios to determine the credit worthiness of a country. Purchasers of a country's debt buy with the assertion they will be paid back on time. In a thriving economy, an elevated debt-to-GDP ratio isn't much of a concern since future earnings portend a country will be able to pay off its debts quickly. In a stagnant economy, a high ratio raises a red flag. Not having a feasible plan in place to address a high debt-to-GDP ratio increases the risk of default, which leads to credit downgrades, reduced debt sales and a tarnished reputation. Since the United States technically hit the debt ceiling on Dec. 31, it is running on emergency funds from the Treasury Dept. until the debt ceiling is raised. Meanwhile, the debt-to-GDP ratio is climbing. Currently the...

...Money Market Instruments The money market is the arena in which financial institutions make available to a broad range of borrowers and investors the opportunity to buy and sell various forms of short-term securities. There is no physical "money market." Instead it is an informal network of banks and traders linked by telephones, fax machines, and computers. Money markets exist both in the United States and abroad. The short-term debts and securities sold on the money markets—which are known as money market instruments—have maturities ranging from one day to one year and are extremely liquid. Treasury bills, federal agency notes, certificates of deposit (CDs), eurodollar deposits, commercial paper, bankers' acceptances, and repurchase agreements are examples of instruments. The suppliers of funds for money market instruments are institutions and individuals with a preference for the highest liquidity and the lowest risk. The money market is important for businesses because it allows companies with a temporary cash surplus to invest in short-term securities; conversely, companies with a temporary cash shortfall can sell securities or borrow funds on a short-term basis. In essence the market acts as a repository for short-term funds. Large corporations generally handle their own short-term financial transactions; they participate in the market through dealers. Small businesses, on the other hand, often choose to invest in money-market funds, which are professionally managed...

The alert is currently in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. These country-states are not the only ones, so anyone pretty much traveling to Africa will be subject to screening. Evaluations may include movement restrictions up to twenty-one days in containment to make sure no virus is detected. At this point in time there are to be absolutely no exceptions as to who must get screened or withheld. Even the President of the United States may get withheld if he was to visit. The Department of States Bureau of Consular Affairs nor the United States Embassy have the authority over quarantine issues. The Home Dept Eco Case Study

...University of the Potomac BUS510 Professor: Petya Case Study: The Home Depot’s Eco Vicky Thomas 7/18/15 Apply a PESTEL analysis to The Home Depot and Ford Motor Company. Which are the most important? Which are the most important external forces impinging upon the companies? Are the forces the same or are they different? Why? The Home Depot’s most important external forces would likely be ecological, sociocultural and economic. The most important forces for Ford Motor Company would likely be the legal, ecological, and economic forces. The forces that are the same for both companies are economic and ecological. The economy affects both companies because if the economy is in a recession and consumers are not purchasing as many products, neither company would be able to sell their products. For The Home Depot, some DIY projects may increase in a down economy. However, this is likely to be more than offset by the reduction in sales of durable goods (such as dishwashers) during a recession. Since Ford Motor Company specializes in the production of motor vehicles; their product offering is limited to automobiles. Strong ecological forces may possibly hurt the company because it may require a lot of research and innovation to improve their product, all of which could take a long time. Strong ecological forces would not have as much of an impact on The Home Depot because they offer a wide variety of products, from household appliances to gardening goods and lumber...

The mission statement is: “Improving the quality of life in Michigan by providing services to vulnerable children and adults that will strengthen the community and enable families and individuals to move toward independence.” (Michigan.gov) DHS provides an array of services to individuals and families, these include: food assistance, cash assistance, health care assistance, children services, adult services, and many more. Since there are so many services under the umbrella of DHS, I will focus on a part of the organization that I am familiar with, Foster care services. Approximately 14,000 Michigan children are in foster care at any given time (Michigan.gov). Foster cares mission statement is “Families first”, meaning the goal is for children to have reunification with their families. So when children cannot be returned to their homes, relatives or foster parents are often asked to provide permanent homes. Foster families provide children in this situation with the consistency and support they need to successfully transition to adulthood (Michigan.gov). In terms of operative goals, there are seven that encompass DHS and represent what the organizations day-to day goals...

Slade Painting Dept. Case Study

...Slade Plating Department In the case of the Slade Plating department there are a number of problems that occur within the company. The main problem is that most of the employees within the department punch fellow co-workers timecards out when the employees are not there. A lot of these problems can be linked to the business’ organizational behavior. There are many employees within the firm that have organized into teams. The most organized being the Sarto and Clark groups. Employees in these groups and some within smaller groups have developed a system where one person in the group stays after the manager leaves at 5:00pm. The alternating individual staying late punches out the other employee’s timecards at 7:00pm allowing most of the staff to go home early without losing pay. This problem occurs because the manager arrives later and leaves earlier than any other employee. The workers are unsupervised for many hours per day and are often not supervised at all on weekends. Proper supervision and coordination of authority is paramount to improving the existing problem at the Slade Plating Department. These practices also occur because the hourly wage offered is low and the system being used is fairly easy to manipulate. There is no reason that in this modern age of technology employees are so easily able to steal from the Slade Company. Many options exist to this agency that are both inexpensive and cost effective. Modernization or implementation of new video monitoring...

They law officers were essentially bounty hunters, they had a lot of trouble with stopping crime but they did what they could to find the man/woman responsible for a crime as long as they knew who he/she was. 5. He had 9 principles you had to go by here they are. The basic mission for which the police exist is to prevent crime and disorder. The ability of the police to perform their duties is dependent upon public approval of police actions. Police must secure the willing co-operation of the public in voluntary observance of the law to be able to secure and maintain the respect of the public. The degree of co-operation of the public that can be secured diminishes proportionately to the necessity of the use of physical force. Police seek and preserve public favour not by catering to public opinion but by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service to the law. Police use physical force to the extent necessary to secure observance of the law or to restore order only when the exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient.
