...According to the Gregorian calendar, John Hancock was born on January 23, 1737; according to the Julian calendar then in use, the date was January 12, 1736.[5] He was born in Braintree, Massachusetts, in a part of town that eventually became the separate city of Quincy.[6] He was the son of the Reverend John Hancock of Braintree and Mary Hawke Thaxter (widow of Samuel Thaxter Junior), who was from nearby Hingham. As a child, Hancock became a casual acquaintance of young John Adams, whom the Reverend Hancock had baptized in 1735.[7][8] The Hancocks lived a comfortable life, and owned one slave to help with household work.[7] After Hancock's father died in 1744, John was sent to live with his uncle and aunt, Thomas Hancock and Lydia (Henchman)...

...John Hancock was possibly one of the most talked about names during the American Revolution, between his vast knowledge and motivation; it was hard not to hear about him. John Hancock was born on January 23, 1737 in present day Quincy. His father, also named John Hancock was a clergyman but died when John was just a child. He and his family moved to Lexington to live with other family for a period of time until John was sent to live with his aunt and uncle who adopted him. His uncle was a wealthy merchant and owned a shipping business. John attended Harvard College and graduated in 1754. After traveling to London, John Hancock returned home to the colonies to find his uncle’s health failing. In 1764, his uncle died and John took over the family estate and his uncle’s business. In the 1760s, John won two consecutive political positions, managing Boston trade at first and then moving up to the colonial legislature. During this time the colonies and the British were arguing about parliamentary taxes, restrictions and rules. Hancock became extremely involved in...

...Uniform Electronic Transaction Act and Electronic Signature Abstract The world has evolved from what used to be a “paper world” to now everything being electronic. The vast majority of the population relies on electronic means to conduct their everyday business. We pay our bills online, make purchases online and sometimes even enter into contracts online. No longer do you need a person’s John Hancock to make a contract legally binding. We have transformed into a society where electronic signature (E-Sign) is just a binding as your wet ink signatures. E-Sign and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) are often compared to each other, but in all actuality they are different when it comes to the way consumers are actually treated. The basic purpose of UETA is to support the use of electronic commerce. The primary objective of this act is to establish the legal equivalence of electronic records and signatures with paper writings and manually signed signatures, which ultimately helps remove barriers to electronic commerce. Once difference between the two is that UETA is state and E-Sign is Federal. You can trace the creation of E-Sign back to UETA. Keep in mind that UETA only applies to Article 2 and 2A transactions and as of July 2006, only forty-six states to include the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands have adopted UETA (White & Summers, 2010). Due to the fact that all of the states failed to adopt UETA, Congress felt the need to enacted...

...Gun Control Concealed Weapons Laws in Arizona Vernon Daniels Jr. Com 220 Jewel Jackson “Gun Control” Concealed Weapons Laws in Arizona Arizona has some of the least restrictive gun laws in the nation. It also has one of the highest rates of gun deaths in the country. But, how closely are guns and violence connected? The answer, like much involving guns in America, is complicated. Even though there is a right to bear arms, gun control laws in Arizona are in need of some work. There have been various shootings that have attributed to this need, adding the fact that carrying a concealed weapon is open to just about anyone only intensifies this need. “Arizona Fired Up Over Year-Old Weapons Law” is an article from 1995 in the Christian Science Monitor that discusses the stance that Tiffany Williams took regarding concealed weapons. Tiffany Williams is one of some 31,000 Arizonans who had decided that their safety hinged on toting guns, and thus had completed a 16-hour firearm-safety course required at that time to carry a concealed gun. Non-supporters of concealed weapons laws worried that as guns continue to show up in more hands, the greater the chance of violent incidents while supporters of concealed weapons laws argued that allowing people to carry firearms - openly or not - is a basic right, and gives people a greater sense of security. Tiffany...

I can rant on for hours talking about all the ways I don’t use all the stuff we do in school but now we would continue to my findings. In my research, I have a simple origin to school by ancient times. It shows no exact date because it was around centuries ago when we did not even thing of the horse carriage was invented. The invention of school goes to the Jews of the past had thought of the formation of how it would work. They wanted to educate their children into understanding new information brought from other regions. They got their ideas from other ancient civilization, the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians. The took the idea of having school a separated building from the Egyptians from them as they had buildings where citizens can learn things we learn today like math. The Mesopotamians made the idea of making us remember everything we learn in a year. The first public school made was in 1635 and is over 400 years old. It was Boston Latin School. It was a famous school because many famous people like Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock. Only boys were allowed to go to this school like all schools in America. Girls were forced to be homed school by their fathers. This was before the Women's Suffrage Movement, so all women were taking care of children and did not go to school. This was major school for it thought some...

One year later he had brilliant players such as Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams playing in his rhythm section. Together they brought forth the invention of Funky Soul Jazz with George Coleman as the tenor, which Wayne Shorter later came to replace. Very predictable of Miles, he changed his style again, this time a unique mix between Hard Bop and Free Jazz. After this movement was fully established by Miles, surprisingly enough, he changed again, he just could not keep a straight pace. It mentions Nora’s claim when she speaks to Torvald in Act Three that women are always ready to sacrifice their integrity for men whereas men are not. In the case of Mrs. Linde, her true love is Krogstad but she leaves him and marries a richer man because Krogstad is poor. The nanny in this play has to leave her own child to support herself by working as Nora’s children. The nanny admits she’s been fortunate to find a joy since she’s been a poor lady who’s been led astray. Nora more fortunate than the other female lady characters in the play since she has providing advantages but society dictates that Torvald be the marriage’s dominant partner. Torvald give out orders and always show he is better and more intelligent to Nora, so Nora must hide her loan because she knows that Torvvald will never accept the idea that his wife (or any other women) has saved his life. Even though she doesn’t have to work, she finds a job so she can pay off her loan since it is against the law for a woman to get a loan without her husband’s approval. Nora’s deception, Torvald attributes – and society- leave Nora helpless to Krostd’s blackmail...

...high-stakes deception? Stephen Porter* and Leanne ten Brinke University of British Columbia Okanagan, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada In this paper, we provide our view of the current understanding of high-stakes lies often occurring in forensic contexts. We underscore the importance of avoiding widespread pitfalls of deception detection and challenging prevailing assumptions concerning strategies for catching liars. The promise and limitations of each of non-verbal/body language, facial, verbal/linguistic, and physiological channels in detecting deception are discussed. In observing the absence of a single cue or behavioural channel that consistently reveals deception, a holistic approach with concurrent attention to multiple channels of a target’s behaviour (ideally videotaped for review) and changes from baseline behaviour is recommended whenever possible. Among the best-validated cues to be considered together include: illustrators, blink and pause rate, speech rate, vague descriptions, repeated details, contextual embedding, reproduction of conversations, and emotional ‘leakage’ in the face. While advocating a reliance on empirical evidence, we observe that few studies of high-stakes deception yet have been conducted. Further, some manifestations of lying are highly idiosyncratic and difficult to address in quantitative research, pointing to the need for keen observation skills, and psychological insight. A recurring theme is the need for the field to devise innovative...

...A pen (Latin penna, feather) is a writing implement used to apply ink to a surface, usually paper, for writing or drawing. Historically, reed pens, quill pens, and dip pens were used, with a nib dipped in the ink. Ruling pens allow precise adjustment of line width, and still find a few specialized uses, but technical pens such as the Rapidograph are more commonly used. Modern types also include ballpoint, rollerball, fountain, and felt or ceramic tip pens.[1] Contents | The main modern types of pens can be categorized by the kind of writing tip or point: A mark made on paper with a rollerball pen, and the tip of that pen * A ballpoint pen dispenses viscous oil-based ink by rolling a small hard sphere, usually 0.7–1.2 mm and made of brass, steel or tungsten carbide.[2] The ink dries almost immediately on contact with paper. The ballpoint pen is usually reliable and inexpensive.[citation needed] It has replaced the fountain pen as the most common tool for everyday writing. * A fountain pen uses water-based liquid ink delivered through a nib. The ink flows from a reservoir through a "feed" to the nib, then through the nib, due to capillary action and gravity. The nib has no moving parts and delivers ink through a thin slit to the writing surface. A fountain pen reservoir can be refillable or disposable, this disposable type being an ink cartridge. A pen with a refillable reservoir may have a mechanism, such as a piston, to draw ink from a bottle through the nib, or it may...
