...As a matter of fact, the question whether modern technology has made our lives complex is a controversial one. Different individuals can hold various opinions due to their distinct backgrounds. In some areas, some people think that modern technology has made our lives complex, whereas in other fields, others believe that modern technology has made our lives simple and convenient. However, I give my vote to the latter opinion. Nowadays, with modern technology such as cars, it is quite common to see these cars in the roads: most families own a car. That results in complex traffic problems, air pollution and noise. Therefore, some people claim that modern technology seriously influences our life and causes a confused environment. In the other hand, if it won’t for modern technology in our lives, we would live as simply as ancient peoples did, with a comfortable environment. But actually, we can move quickly to another place with a car, which bring more convenience to life. More and more people think that we cannot imagine our lives without modern technology such as computers, smart phones and so on. We use computers to do business with programs like Microsoft Word and also to communication with email or Skype. No doubt we save time, paper and shorten distance because of computers. For one recent example, people were amazed to know that smart phones can change our life style. For instance, we just started to use smart phones which can take pictures, surf the internet, play games...

...persQuality over quantity It is important to live life to its fullest potential, enjoying every moment and making it all count because who knows if I will ever get a second chance. As J.K Rowling said “As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.” I personally believe in making a difference and creating an impact to this world. When you accomplish the objectives you have set in life, you feel more satisfied and pleased with yourself. It is not always about helping people around you and making them smile but also feeling worthy about yourself. Regardless of your age, being able to look back and see the impact you have created or the difference you have made in people’s lives is very fulfilling. I believe in having a vision. It is important to then connect the visions to achieve results. Last year, I started a non-profit organization called Educare. The organization collaborated with an American charity foundation called “Family Care” and raised money for the betterment of education and heath sectors for underprivileged children in Africa. I raised the money by selling my very own African themed sketches. All of the money went towards the foundation. Later on, during the summer I visited Nigeria to help out at the hospitals and schools where the funds were applied. Also, I got a chance to understand and experience the lives of the less fortunate. I visited the remote areas in a city called Lagos, which was an eye opening experience to me...

...can be define as a particular occupation, business, or profession, or your divine call to God’s service or to the Christian life. I’m actually walking in my vocation right now. I was ordained a Minister in December of 2012. I have learned since then that I must be true, live holy, and have faith. Example 1 - I Must Be True Being true in my vocation is the key to helping people know that you are authentic. To walk in trueness one must be real, genuine, sincere, not deceitful, loyal and faithful. I remember as a child always hearing the phrase, “it’s better to hear the ugly truth versus a good lie.” I have learned as a Christian that walking in truth is the having the image of God. Everything about God is true. According to Jeremiah 10:10: But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. His word is true, His Son Jesus is the truth, and this world was made based upon the truth. As I live out my vocation I understand that I must be true with myself first before I can be true to anybody else. Being made in the image of God makes it so easy to live out the image of God. Because I am made in His image and after His likeness I can operate like He does. No matter how hard it may be I must never tell lies and act in accordance with the enemy. In the bible Jesus was speaking about the importance of not telling lies in John 8:42-44: Jesus said unto them, If God...

...2/23/2014 Business Ethics Truman’s Decision Should the United States drop the atomic bomb, or should they invade Japan on foot in order to end World War II? Is it okay to kill innocent people as a means to reach a justifiable end? These were the questions that President Harry Truman was faced with near the close of World War II. More than 10’s of millions of people had already lost their lives during this war, and Japan was refusing to surrender even though it was clear to not only us, but also Japan themselves, that their defeat was inevitable. The president was under tremendous pressure to end this costly war, and a tough decision had to be made. This paper will evaluate from which ethical perspective Truman made his decision to use the atomic bomb, and why I believe it was ethically okay for him to choose the option that would cost the lives of over 200,000 Japanese civilians. The two ethical perspectives examined are utilitarianism and Kantianism. First, utilitarianisms fall under the school of ethics called consequentialism. It says that the moral status of the actions you take should be judged by the consequences of those actions. This ethical perspective can be used to answer the question proposed at the beginning of the paper, is it okay to kill innocent people as a means to reach a justifiable end? Supporters of utilitarianism would say that as long as the outcome contributes to the greater good of the greatest amount of people, then yes the act can be justified...

...Our character should match up with how we live our lives. That is called Life Congruence, living in the flesh, but having our character one with the spirit is the opposite of Life Congruence. Living our life with a separated character and life. We will fall into “cognitive dissonance” “Disagreement with our mind” (Millard 54) When our mind and our beliefs for our life are not one we often will choose to go against our beliefs. This disconnection will then begin to permeate our thought on our Life Calling, we may drop it altogether and try something else. Or we may just come to a complete stop with no interest of continuing on. Our lives need to be congruent in order for us to accomplish all that we were born to...

...Christian, Christ like.. Some people say that we are just evolutionary result of the survival of the fittest Others think of reincarnation Most of our lives, we have been searching for a purpose for our lives, one that has a deeper meaning than just the basic action of existing on this planet. We felt that our lives were meant for something; and something meaningful and worthwhile that would give us a true reason to live. We searched for this purpose in things like relationships, a career, a job, a hobby, in school, and in many more things, only to find disappointment at every turn; because though these things could preoccupy us for a moment, they would ultimately fail at fulfilling our spiritual desire for a meaningful life. Then we find God, and we feel that we see our purpose clearly. We are full of excitement and hopeful to see what God will do with our lives. The overwhelming joy and excitement that drives us motivates us to share the good news with everyone around us, telling them of the great purpose that God has in store for our lives. We devote ourselves to learning more, growing more, and doing more for God. We surround ourselves with more and more people who call themselves Christians to glean as much as we can from them, astounded at the miraculous experiences they recount of God’s work in their lives. We are at the pinnacle of our joy, and we feel that we have what we have always been looking for. Never again will we feel lost; never again will we feel...

...bitterness, jealousy… Doubting that this New Year is not another new year to face but a continuous struggle to what seems an impossible life for them to fit in.. --- No one can go back and make a new start. Yet, anyone can start from now and make a grand new ending. Many of us our continuously letting other things make our decisions to our lives.. like? New gadgets, peer pressure, money, a feeling of belongingness to such point that it takes changing the whole you, being busy to career, work, school, get together.. etc.. But we must let the author and perfecter of our faith- Jesus be the center of it all, to let Him fill in the remaining chapters of our lives with His great plans and purpose. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2 For through Him, we came to be children of God. He hasn’t died in vain. His suffering, the mockery of the people to Him, His death on the cross.. All of it was to cleanse us from our sin and give us a new life – an eternal life "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”- John 5:24 Because He have said that, "I am the way and the truth and the life”- Jn 14:6 He is the way, the only way through our Father and whoever believes...

...technology becomes more and more relevant. Today, people use technology for everything from checking up on their social media, to paying bills and running businesses. Technology has made it possible for anyone to find anything they need or get anything they want with little to no effort being put into it. While it may seem like that is a good thing to be able to do all of these things from some device or computer, there is also a side to it that everyone seems to let pass over their heads… how complicated everything has become. In the world we live in today, the use of technology has become almost as required as the need for breathing air. Think about how many times a day you go around checking your social media, or looking down to your phone for a text message, or even playing games on your cell phone. Today, people use technology for everything from checking up on their social media, to paying bills and running businesses. ““Ok – what’s so bad about that?” you may ask. “Why waste those little grey cells on mundane memory tasks that our devices can do better and more conveniently?” Good questions – UNTIL you lose your phone or you have to change PCs – then you are in communications hell until you sort it all out.” (Shapiro, 2010) With technology becoming such an important part of our lives, it has made what used to give us something to look forward to no longer exciting....

...The Crucible Essay John Proctor was an important part of Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible”. Towards the end of the book/movie he was falsely accused of being a witch. He had many conflict on his mind and reasons to confess and not to confess. Personally, I think he made the right decision in that time. I most likely would of chose to live, but I understand why he made his decision. John Proctor had many internal conflicts. Before the accusations started, he cheated on his wife with Abigail. That led to the guilt that was on his mind, when his wife was accused and when he had to say his commandments to Reverend Hale. Because of the affair, all those people were arrested and died. I’m pretty sure he found that out towards the end. Having all those lives on your mind is a very big conflict in my opinion. His own wife was accused. He wasn’t even able to see his last child being born. Knowing your going to die is a conflict itself. Having these internal conflicts on his mind made the story what it is....

...THEO 201: Theology and Culture #2 Introduction The theological concept that human beings have been made to reflect the image of God can be a major deciding factor for many modern ethical arguments. Some of the practical applications that come with being made in the image of God include our ability to make decisions and decide what is moral and unmoral. While different theologians may share contracting views on what it means exactly to be made in the image of God, it is important that we study what it means to be made in God’s image so that we can better understand our connection to Him. In this paper I will be sharing what I have found being made in God’s image means in relation to our everyday lives as well in the ethical decisions that we...

Abortion is wrong and is murder to a beautiful baby that was meant to be in this world for a purpose. There are many that we love including ourselves, but we take the lives of others and our own for granted and do not realize how precious our own life is. Everyday, there is thousands of children who would like to live their life but their own life gets taken away and not by their choice. A life is precious and should be kept, loved and cared for. ...12 step reflection paper 12 Steps to recovery is it for you? The 12 steps to recovery is used as an aid with other therapies not just by its self. It is not for everyone, every addict needs a unique/different approach to recovery, and the approach that will work best for you is dependent on your individual beliefs, needs and circumstances. In my opinion Faith in a higher power is one of the most important things needed in the traditional 12-step process. So therefore if you do not believe in any kind of higher power the 12 step programs are probably not for you. If your faith is important to you, you may need to find a program that will allow you to really embrace your beliefs. For many people, a traditional 12-step approach works for them, but others need to focus on a more tangible way of focusing on their recovery. The 12-Steps are more than just a way for some people to stay sober. They’re a map for living life as a whole being in their interpretation. They consist of the universal spiritual principles like tell the truth, treat others as you’d want to be treated, monitor your failures, apologize for them and make things amends if you can do so without hurting others. The Steps provide tools for living a full, satisfying, meaningful life. These steps mean admission of alcoholism, it’s a personality analysis and catharsis, adjustment to personal relations, dependence upon some higher power and working with other alcoholics to better themselves together. Step...
