...My Management Experiences My management experiences started when I was assigned as the first and only Coal Milling Supervisor. Coal milling then was a very troublesome section, most probably because supervisors in our department are mostly focused in Pyro-processing operation, considered the heart of cement manufacturing. I oversee operations of three units Coal Mill Plants, one unit Coal Flash Dryer and coal conveying systems. I ensure sufficient stock of fine coal in terms of quantity and quality and the continuous availability of all the coal milling equipment. Fine coal is being used as fuel in clinker (semicement) manufacturing. The most recent project in Coal Milling is the state of the art Coal Dozing system worth around P50 M, part of the P2B worth of modification project in the Pyroprocessing department. Coal Mills run 24 hours-7days when the two units Rotary Kiln (Pyro-processing) is in operation. Fine coal consumption is almost break-even with the coal mill capacities. Break down of any equipment in a Coal Mill Plant may result to slow down of Rotary Kiln or reduce in clinker production. Thus, short planning and scheduling of maintenance works at coal mill have to be cautiously implemented and people who will do the job must be motivated to finish the job as soon as possible. If break down of any coal mill took more than eight hours, slowdown of in pyro-processing is inevitable. My Management Experiences During my first year in Coal Milling, I did a...

...group homes, 15 staff and 12 MR adults. I had to staff the homes 24 hours a day, make sure the guys were well cared for and administer meds. I was also a certified handle with care trainer which allowed me to restrain these individuals without hurting them or myself. Thankfully, I never had to do this. However, I had 2 clients die and at that time I was very attached to the people I served. The company policy was to clear out their rooms and fill it with another individual. I had always wanted to work with children and the fact that these beds were filled without grieving time was a hard pill to swallow. I was way too young to be that cold about people. One of the agencies I worked with at that time was Montgomery County MH/MR case management. They told me that they are always hiring at the county and all I had to do was take the civil service exam. I took County Caseworker 2 exam and put myself on the list for the counties I was willing to travel to. I was interviewed for the MH/MR case manager position as well as the...

...I was involved in hosting an annual dinner for the business student union and was a member of the promotional team. The annual dinner served as an opportunity for freshmen to meet alumni and establish personal professional networks. The project scope for the promotional team was to create brand awareness about the 10th SBM annual dinner to freshmen. Also, to give information about what the annual dinner was and the benefits that it could provide to freshmen. Last but not least, promote the annual dinner effectively. For the project time, we had around one month, from 4th September to 10th October 2008. In this limited time period, we needed to promote the event, find participants, plan out the event, and decorate the venue. For the promotional team, there were a few risks. One of them was obviously not enough freshmen joining the activity, leading to not able to recoup the costs spent on organizing the activity. The second risk was not enough time to prepare all the decorations in the limited time. Because we rented the venue, we were only able to start decorating the venue in the morning of the actual date of event. We also had limited available personnel because most of the sub-committees had lessons in the morning and afternoon. A third risk was the chance of buying low quality products from Taobao. We wanted to use electronic flameless candles for the tables. However, they were way too expensive if you bought it in Hong Kong IKEA. So it was to either buy only a small...

What specifically do you hope to gain personally from experiencing life in another culture? 2. Personally, I plan on gaining a lot from experiencing life in another culture. I am excited to see how their community works as a whole in comparison to how Americans live. The United States' culture, values, and beliefs are not like any other country. We live a totally different lifestyle than most people all over the world; and I would like to experience it firsthand. To be able to live on another continent, in another country, living another culture-it will expose me to a new environment with new traditions. While I'm there, all I can do is learn, taking in every new experience, and realize there is more to living than the way I was taught in America. I love to learn and embrace new ideas; different cultures it has always fascinated me....

...Materials The training program for Dan McGuinness Irish Pub will be carried out by The manager, Brad O’Sullivan, and head server, Tony Ainsley. Both have had many years of experience in the restaurant and bar field, and will bring that experience to the table for the duration of the course. The company believes the best way to handle the training, is to treat everyone who participates as if they are brand new to the business. The company understands this may cause some of the more experienced participants to become frustrated, but the company believes everyone should start at the beginning and learn together. Instructional Strategies The management at Dan McGuinness believes it is important for the course to be informative, instructional, and just as important, fun. Much of the groundwork in the classes will be familiar to many of the more experienced personnel, however the company believes any member of staff coming into the business for the first time will benefit from the more experienced personnel. The first strategy to be put in place will be to set up learning teams; each team will include an experienced person as team leader. During the course of the program, there will be situational roll playing; this will be overseen by the experienced personnel because they will most likely have had experience in dealing with most situations the server, or bartender will have to deal with. The two main instructors, Mr. O’Sullivan, and Mr Ainsley, will teach their respective area...

...return to corporate headquarters, I would choose to stay at this company for a period of time. If the company still ignore my return and fail to take advantage of my word experience abroad, I will quit and change other job, because I cannot see the prospects and potential development in the future for this company. Global business experience and market resource have become the most valuable fortunes for me after three-year overseas assignment, which can attract more competitors in the same industry to hire me. 2. If I were the company management, I would take some steps to change the attitude towards Andrea’s return when I recognized that few people were enthusiastic about this thing. The organizational culture, attitude, and spirits need to be changed by management team. I need to set new compensation and incentive systems for the returned employees who have successfully finished the overseas assignments and increased the market shares and profit margins. As many companies grow across the globe, the company should pay more attention on hiring employees who have global business skills. 3. Andrea’s work experience abroad is critical and necessary for the company who expand its market share across abroad. Working in another country can open up opportunities to develop new skills and have new experiences. From the employer’s perspective, clients are looking for professionals who have been exposed to more advanced processes and structures in more overseas markets. After completing...

...amount of time. The reservation system also helps to know when to have special deals on flights, so that all seats may be filled (Laudon & Laudon, 2013). 2. Evaluate the risks of the projects to upgrade the reservation systems of WestJet and JetBlue and key risk factors. There are several risks to consider when evaluating the risks of the projects to upgrade the reservation systems of WestJet and JetBlue. First of all for customers there is one main risk. The consumer will either notice no difference in their abilities to book flights etc. or they will consider the operation failed, and this could upset the way they look at the airlines brand. The key risk factors to consider are the projects size and structure, and the experience with technology. WestJet had not anticipated the transfer time required to move the files, they had failed to reduce its passenger loads on flights operating immediately after the charge over (Laudon & Laudon, 2013). Due to the projects structural problems many flights that were previously booked became inaccessible. Lastly, if the airlines had...

We are grateful to Status of Women Canada for funding this project and for the continued sponsorship of the Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres. We also thank the members of our Advisory Committee for pushing and challenging us throughout this project. We thank the women who facilitated focus groups and helped us contact the women in this study. Finally, this report would not be possible without the contributions of the women who told us about their experiences. © 2004 Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children ISBN# 0-9688655-3-4 1 “To understand violence, we have to examine both the personal experience and the terrain of that experience.” Dr. Yasmin Jiawani This report is built on the personal experiences of women who have experienced workplace harassment, but their stories are also about the “terrain” or the context of those experiences. In drawing out the commonalities of their experiences, we have begun to shed light on the terrain. We must transform the terrain if women are to have equality and safety in their workplaces. 2 We dedicate this report to Theresa Vince whose death in 1996 changed the views of many people in Ontario about sexual and workplace harassment. Her tragic and untimely death showed us that workplace harassment can no longer be easily dismissed as a trivial problem. Fundamentally, the goal of this report is to prevent any other woman from losing her ...

...( Now are able to move into a specific application, databases! How exciting, right? I will be asking some time this week what experience everyone has with databases, but we will not be expecting people to create one or work with one. But, first, let’s examine why this is valuable to us and to our organizations. Organizing Data and Information…now that is a challenge for us today given the overwhelming amount of data available today. One could read the title of this chapter and not anticipate that the theory of database design and management would be included. Some authors consider this to be a key element and have clearly indicated the role and influence of database theory and practice is essential. A well-managed organization and IS department can be compared with a well-designed and functioning database. [pic] Source: http://www.datawarehouse4u.info/images/data_warehouse_architecture.jpg The effort this week will not attempt to present the entirety of database analysis, design, maintenance, and management, but will present an overview of it. For those of you who are not experienced or expert in any programming languages, our treatment will be a huge sigh of relief, because we will not create any databases. We will leave that for those other courses. But I would ask that everyone post as part of their notes how much experience you have in creating databases (and if you don’t have any, what you’d like in a database that would be created for you). With the...

...for about three weeks and I am still experiencing some anxieties mixed with excitement. I believe that I have a solid understanding of what is expected of me and a good feel for my immediate supervisor’s management style. He is very easy going and gives me freedom to use my creativity and imagination on projects. He takes a very hands on approach, which is something I am comfortable with, being that I am still very new to this field. I am however experiencing some of the characteristics of the disillusionment stage such as confusion, frustration, and a gap between his expectation and reality. For example, he has requested that I call all of the churches within a 15 mile radius of the office and find out information regarding their adult programs. This is an unrealistic task because there are roughly 1000 establishments within these parameters. I am also failing to see how this will benefit my work experience as well as the company’s bottom line. 2.) According to Sweitzer and King, in order for me to move from this stage I need to learn to define my goals more clearly and specifically as well as begin to consider the skills I need to achieve these goals (Pg. 28). I think that once I start to lower my expectations (because this is only my first taste of professional experience) some of the projects I work on will become less frustrating. This is also a problem that could become more severe as I move towards the disillusionment phase. 3.) I believe that the authors were very...

...Private experience with learning at university including time and space management. How did the time management theory help me with learning. Time and space management are very important matters to almost all people, who like to have their life organized. They are crucial while studying, doing projects or another types of work where the time given is strictly limited. When it comes to my private experience considering learning at the university, it is positive. First of all, and the most important for me, there are no gaps in the schedule, so I do not waste my time while waiting for classes. Second, if a gap somehow occurs, there is a great library, where many interesting books can be found, moreover, there are separate rooms for individual or group work there. On the university we can find many places, where we can chat and also discuss with friends our class projects. One of the most important matters for students are professors’ office hours, moreover it is great to know that they are always willing to help. Theories about time management presented in class made me more aware of how to plan my time efficiently. I realized how much time, just slipped through my fingers. I decided to buy a large calendar and hang it in a visible place in the apartment. I started planning all things at least a week ahead and writing them down on the calendar first, and it worked great. Now, I never check my email in the morning, as a matter of fact, I try not to check it before...

...Imagine an elderly person with glasses perched on their nose, rocking in an old chair on their front porch. Generally, in stories this person helps guide the main character to make the right decision. Although this is stereotypical and conventional wisdom, does a person automatically assume that they have all the answers in life? Or do you think that the person who learns from work experience does? Or the person who has the highest degree? In Webster's Dictionary it states that wisdom is accumulated philosophical or scientific learning: knowledge. So, does the person with the highest degree, skilled trades career, or someone who has experienced through age truly have wisdom? Let’s start with college education. By 2020 65% of all jobs will...
