...Managing a Quality Curriculum Outcome 1 I have been asked to write a report, which evaluates the concept of a quality curriculum by examining three models of curriculum in relation to one national/local guideline and two approaches. The national guideline, which I have chosen to examine, is Curriculum for Excellence and my two approaches are the Reggio and Te Whariki. Within all childcare establishments in Scotland we must work alongside curriculum legislation and government bodies. The current curriculum and legislations are all set by the government and must be followed at all times to ensure all children’s needs and developments are being met. We are required to follow all the educational frameworks and the Social Care and Social Work in Scotland (SCSWIS) set the care and standards. Model 1 – Development, Curriculum for Excellence and Lev Vygotsky. When working in a childcare environment a quality curriculum needs to be provided. A national curriculum, which is provided, in Scottish nurseries and schools for children aged between 3-18 years of age is ‘Curriculum for Excellence’. Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum. The 3-18 curriculum aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need to flourish in life, learning and work. The Curriculum for...

...is to lead and manage the planning, delivery, evaluation and improvement of the education of all students in a community through the strategic deployment of resources provided by the Department and the school community. A key component of this role is to increase the knowledge base of teachers within their school about student learning and quality teacher practice. At the same time, the principal, as executive officer of the school council, must ensure that adequate and appropriate advice is provided to the council on educational and other matters; that the decisions of the council are implemented; and that adequate support and resources are provided for the conduct of council meetings. Principals have a clear set of accountabilities, which distinguish their work from other employees in the Teaching Service and the education community and are set out in detail in the contract of employment. The principal is accountable for the overall leadership, management and development of the school within state-wide guidelines and Government policies. The core accountabilities of all principals are to: − Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive, high quality education program to all students. − Be executive officer of the school council. − Implement decisions of the school...

...Why is leadership so important today? Why Hong Kong people took to the streets to protest against government policy many times eg moral and national education curriculum, North East New Territories new development areas planning, etc? It is because of Hong Kong people don’t trust the government. I think Hong Kong now is crisis and high pressure situation. In times of crisis, strong leadership is the major factor in driving the changes that are needed to get us to a better day. Leadership is an influence that a person influences others to achieve a goal. So a good leader is important to organization because organization is easy to success. Good leadership involves finding ways to overcome the road block by identifying and resolving problems. There have two type leaders which is task and social-emotional leader. Task leader helps subordinates to finish the task and smooth over relationship problem. Social –emotional leader concerned to keep subordinates’ morale at high level through allaying fears, reducing tension, and settling disagreements and arguments. Sometimes it can be the same person but sometimes they are different people and sometimes these are shared by more than one person. Sometimes the Social-emotional Leader doesn’t hold an official position and takes on the tasks of his own initiative. They are quite essential to the group. Tensions between individuals usually arise and need to be smoothed over. The person who can do this is quite valuable to...

...Organizational behaviour can be defined as the study of managing the behaviour of people within an organizational context. This includes how the human resource of an organization is organized and used to help an organization achieve its competitive advantage over others in the market. It is also how the organization responds to the employees. It includes understanding the behaviour and motivating them to bring out the best of the organization (Luthans 2011). Furthermore it is the field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and organizational structures have on the behavior of these actors within the organizations. Through organization behavior it is aimed to describe systematically how people behave under variety of conditions. Furthermore it helps understand why people behave the way they do. The study also enables the organization to make future prediction of how the employees behave. Finally it aims to control and develop the worker’s activities at work. The other important aspect of organization behavior is that it takes into account the importance of human resource in an indispensible part of an organization. As the owner of Wal-Mart was quoted as saying, “The people are the key”. (Luthans 2011). This is because technology can be easily copied but the beliefs, creativity, values and motivation that the employees bring into an organization cannot be replicated. It always is a unique factor and this is what the organizations need to capitalize on...

...Running head: CONDUCTING A FOCUS GROUP Conducting a Focus Group of XXX Educational Program Graduates By Outstanding DHA Student Medical University of South Carolina PURPOSE The purpose of this paper is to describe the planning and design of a focus group for recent graduates of the XXX Program at YYY State University in Northridge (UN). The mission of the XXX program is to produce graduates that can function effectively in staff, front-line management and middle management positions for a variety of health care sectors. Insufficient data exists to determine qualitatively if we have fulfilled our mission. This qualitative research is intended to answer the following question: “How well did the UN XXX Program prepare you for the current position you hold in your organization?” Although this project is intended to serve as a form of self-contained research, it is conceivable that the results of this project may lead to the creation of additional sources of data such as employer focus groups or survey instruments for additional insight. PLANNING Morgan (1997) emphasizes that three factors must be taken into consideration prior to planning for a focus group; ethical concerns, budgetary issues and time constraints. Although personal work experiences will be shared by the intended participants, there is no intent to ask questions of a personal demographic nature such, as home address...
