...CONFIDENTIALITY, PRIVILEGES, MANDATED REPORTING AND DUTY TO WARN Name of Student Institutional affiliation Abstract In this paper, I will be focusing on a brief summary of a therapy video that delves into counseling. Actors in this video are looking at real life cases involving high court ruling on issues such as confidentiality, privilege, reporting and the duty to warn. I will also look at my own findings in statures and laws as far as North Carolina is concerned. Additionally, I will give a summary of each. Finally, I will discuss my reflection and how I can put these into action in my counseling career. The presentation of this video is quite interesting. It gives room for actors to look deeper into real cases and get a deeper grasp in the areas of confidentiality, privilege, reporting and duty to warn. It also gives a more vivid picture of how the above mentioned things, though looking similar, are quite different in a myriad of ways. The very first case to be looked into was of a young boy who was taken to hospital by his foster parents. His conditions were not good at all for he had bruises on his spine and another bruise slightly below his eye. The nurse happened to questioned her about the same. She said it was as a result of being jostled in seat in the car. The nurse kind of didn’t make any note of this observation. Moreover, she happened to fail to call CPS to report the possible...

Mental Health counselors should adhere to their State's guidelines when making a decision to report a possible case of child maltreatment. They can find those guidelines on the U.S. Department of Human Services website (2011) as well each State ‘s Department of Human Services. One example of different guidelines in each state is mandated reporting directly to the state department responsible for investigating child abuse cases. Many states do not require notifying the supervisor first, although all require informing them when it occurs. Also, each State varies in stipulating repercussions, professional and criminal, for failure to report child abuse.( U.S....

...Case Study: Chase’s Strategy for Syndicating the Hong Kong Disneyland Loan (A) Q1. How should Chase have bid in the first round competition to lead the HK$3.3 billion Disneyland financing? 1.Three ways to approach this deal 1) bid to win, 2) bid to lose and3) no bid. Chase chose to bid to lose on the first round, but just enough to make it to the short list. Also, since Chase is one of Disney's relationship banks, Chase would not want to ruin this relationship by not bidding on their project. If Chase wanted to lead the competition from the first round, they should have made a bid that was more aggressive and aimed to win. This bid would have been closer to the desires of Disney, making them more appealing and increasing their probabilities of leading the financing. However, they chose to bid to lose, with just enough terms to get into the second round to "protect their reputation", but not to lead. The deal started to become more attractive with the possibility of Disney awarding a sole lead arranger mandate and with the increased potential for a successful syndication. At this point, after Chase made it through the first round, they decided on a more aggressive final proposal where they would be very close to meeting most of Disney’s demands in order to win the deal. 2. Standard Commitment Letter The standard commitment letter established by Chase for the Disneyland project would have the following terms: 1. HK$300 million loan. 2. 15-year maturity...

...Michelle del Rosario Effective Leadership & Management Class - Barbara Miller Individual Paper March 14, 2013 The Application of the SCARF Model on the 2011 Re-Organization of SF Court Reporters I. INTRODUCTION On Friday, September 30, 2011, the San Francisco Superior Court (SFSC) laid-off a total of sixty-seven (67) employees, including twenty-nine (29) Certified Court Reporters. The Court started the fiscal year of 2011-2012 with a $13.75 million budget deficit, and had initially mailed out two hundred (200) pink slips in July, representing 41% of it’s staff. Fortunately, austerity measures (such as extending mandatory furlough days, enforcing voluntary unpaid time off, reducing office hours, and closing civil courtrooms) and very aggressive negotiations with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) resulted in an additional $7.5 million that was used to salvage one hundred thirty-three (133) careers. September 30, 2011 was a devastating day to these sixty-seven (67) employees, and this paper will focus particularly on the effects of this re-organization on the emotions and reactions of the Court Reporters who were directly and indirectly affected. The SFSC website defines Court Reporters as “guardians of the record”. It is emphasized that not only are they Court employees, but they are also purveyors of transcripts for all interested parties. Their main job duties are providing legislated transcripts of criminal proceedings, and...
