...This essay is all about accountability. Where it came from and why it’s important today. The word “accountable” has so much history behind it. Accountability is important on all levels. Being able to be accountable is a corner stone of being a working member of society. Accountability is a word with many different meanings. This essay will explore what accountability is, where it comes from, and what it means to “be accountable”. Websters dictionary defines it as such: the quality or state of being accountable; especially; an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for ones actions. "Accountability" stems from late Latin accomptare (to account), a prefixed form of computare (to calculate), which in turn derived from putare (to reckon). While the word itself does not appear in English until its use in 13th century Norman England, the concept of account-giving has ancient roots in record keeping activities related to governance and money-lending systems that first developed in Ancient Israel, Babylon, Egypt, Greece, and later, Rome What is accountability and the definition: (DOD) The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. During this internship my task was to analyze different parameters of all plants of this company, which are operating in the sector of my department. The results of this survey were to be presented to a group consisting of eight to ten managers including the head of the department, at the end of my internship. Due to shortcomings in organizational maters from the side of the company, I did not have any access to a computer for the first two weeks of my internship, making it impossible to actually work on my project. As this meant a loss of almost 20 % of my working time, I had to complete my project under time pressure. Knowing, that time will be a limiting factor, my supervisors’ days are literally packed with meetings and I might not get to speak to him if I wouldn’t arrange it ahead of time, I had already set up a couple of meetings shortly before the presentation. In those meetings, open issues and questions from my side were to be discussed. Moreover my analysis required indepth knowledge of the companies’ policies. Therefore I was very dependent on regular meetings with my supervisor in order to make sure everything has been interpreted correctly. Therefore, I had scheduled a meeting...

...Reflective Essay Prompts 1. Initial Reaction The address of my internship site looked familiar, I was sure of the location. Once I arrived at my internship site, I know that the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) uses College Possible’s previous suite. I am a College Possible student, and I had been to their office before, so it was not hard for me to find my work place. However, I expected this organization to have a larger working space and more staff. On my first day, a receptionist thought that I was a client, therefore, she called my supervisor. My supervisor, Lenore, toured me around the workplace and introduced me to the staff in there. My first impression of my supervisor was that she is a serious and straightforward person....

It also highlights aspects of training she mentions that we both have undertaken together in the appointment, so I suppose she is reporting her own training and that of mine in her words, that I can use as evidence that can be signed off. ...Today I spent 12 hours with my supervisor in an assignment that involved many different kinds of interactions. I had to navigate between being a student interpreter, someone active in the conversations, and someone who did not have to interpret because the hearing people involved knew ASL. At first, I was a little confused as to how to be all of those roles and also how to make my presence in the environment as unobtrusive as possible. With time I was able to be more natural and comfortable, but it was interesting to see the different job demands in this kind of setting. ...nervous about my own abilities and competent to meet client’s needs and preferred outcome in therapy. I was very cautious about seeking help and advice from my supervisor and other faculty member’s particularly in deciding which areas of clinical practice to pursue. My fear was that countertransference would develop, and I would be performing a disservice to my clients. I remember hearing one of my clients’ experiences and hearing very much of my own story in those words. I was infused with fear and anxiety that it will trigger a past experience in me that I didn’t know how to deal with in order for me to be a better professional. I spent much of my time this semester thinking whether or not I appeared competent, rather than just genuinely being myself. I needed to be human and give myself a break. However, I realized that I will not know the answer to everything, but it is acceptable to verbalize that to my clients by using such phrases as, “I’m not sure, but let me get that answer for you.” I have discovered that most of my clients do not necessarily want an answer; instead, they are seeking for someone who can listen and validate their feelings of uncertainties. I reached this realization, and it becoming easier for me to build alliance and trust with clients, which is what I have always wanted. To connect with my clients! I have been able to ask myself “what do I ultimately want to gain from my supervisor and colleges professionally?” I have learned to tap into my supervisor’s...
