Introduction:
The purpose of this study is to find out the nutritional composition of foods that are in an American diet. This lab puts different reagents into different foods and looks at how they react to find what key nutrients it contains. The key nutrients is looking at are vitamin C, Fluoride, Protein, Fat, Sugar, and Starch. There are three questions we are trying to answer through this lab. The first question is; Does food coloring affect the nutritional analyses. The second question is; Which of the foods has a nutritional composition of all six nutrients. The third and final question is; If the foods show all six nutrients are they the best foods for the body in terms of energy sources.

Methods:
The first part of the methods in this lab is to use indicators to find the different compounds in the tested foods. …show more content…
However, pepperoni pizza was the closest out of all of them to meeting our bodies needs. The results form this lab match the results from other students that did the lab.

Analysis:
Yes, I agree with the rationale for studying this question in the manner in which it was studied because it is a solid scientific way to conduct the experiment. The indicators make it easy to see whether or not the different foods contain the the six different compounds However, this way of studying the question does have it’s downsides. For example, the colors of the original foods could affect they way you view the result. Cheerios didn't have any salt in them according to this lab, but it could be wrong because the white precipitate and the light color of the cheerios might not have been observed separately and the precipitate could have been missed. Solutions with a pH less than 7 are acidic and solutions with a pH greater than 7 are alkaline or basic.
