Graduate school is a really hard thing to pursue --- it takes a large amount of courage, to step back into the university to apply for admission to a course. It takes a large amount of time to attend classes, when you know that you can already spend this time for rest. It takes a large amount of expense from one’s pocket, as any education entails. It takes investment of effort to pass each subject, let alone study whilst juggling all the other responsibilities that one has in life. Pursuing graduate school takes all these things but if looked upon closely, these things are inevitable. These are factors that would exist for anyone who would like to pursue higher education. So why am I seeking admission to graduate school?

Just two things: my passion and a calling.

Passion – it is the inert force in any human being that drives them to pursue their dreams and goals. Passion is a very strong feeling towards something, which, in my case, would be children. From high school to college years, I have seen myself to be very passionate about children. Children of the youngest ages, may they be a fast learner or slow learner; may they obedient or stubborn. I have found myself volunteering to take care of other people’s children or playing with them while others scour at this task. This passion that I have for children is my main reason on why I am applying for a major in Teaching for Early Grades. The second one, a calling, is actually a realization that I have recently found. From college to now, my best skill at work would be to educate others, no matter what profile my audience is. With these two things in mind, I mustered up enough courage that I have to look for a degree in higher education. That is why I am writing about why I am pursuing admission for graduate study.

Of course, nothing will ever beat my own Alma Mater in providing the quality education I

Themes Of Unique Design

... Foundational Values are platforms that Unique Design supports itself with. In order for a Unique Design to be discovered, the Foundational Values have to be sought for and then found. The Foundational Values are the “...ground rules...” (Millard 27) that are established in the search for a life calling. The values that we develop from a child, our likes, dislikes, passions, etc. Without these values, we would have no reaction to life around us, which would also mean no Life Calling. When our Foundational Values are discovered, our personal interests and ideas develop and our Unique Design is showcased, “People are like a proverbial snowflake- no two are completely alike.” (Millard...

Museum Paper

...Museum Paper The work of art I chose is “The Calling of Apostles Peter and Andrew.” This work of art was started in 1308 and ended in 1311 by Duccio di Buoninsegna. It is an oil on panel painting and is currently located at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. This work of art depicts a religious view while having a proto-renaissance style. This work of art is significant because it shows a sense of a belief. The belief of Peter and Andrew towards Jesus. The work of art has subtle details that tell a short story. When I look at this painting I look at the features of Jesus’s clothing, the rock Jesus stands upon, the boat that the men stand in, the fish net, and the gesture Jesus gives to Andrew and Peter. Firstly, to me, the boat symbolizes instability as it can sway from side to side giving an idea that the two men’s faith is not yet decided in a manner of speaking. The rock Jesus stand upon shows strength and stability within him; his faith. Jesus beckoning symbolizes a calling to him while saying that if they do then it will be fulfilling or rewarding due to the fishing net being full. Jesus’s clothing also symbolizes two different things. Firstly, the red coloring of his outfit symbolizes his passion in faith. The purple coloring of his outfit symbolizes his status in royalty. Buoninsegna also paints one of the men in a reddish color to possibly indicate his passion. There are also several small designs around the head of Jesus which could indicate a sort...

...smite the land with a curse. SOME OF YOU READING THIS ARE BEING CALLED BY GOD I also saw a wall holding back this enormous flood of souls. They are being held back, waiting. There are people out there, reading this right now, who God is calling. He is calling them to break down the wall. People who have always thought, not me I'm too shy. Not me I don't have the right personality. Moses was like that. HE IS GIVING YOU IDEAS--EVEN RIGHT NOW The Lord is giving these people ideas, God inspired ideas that will reach masses of people. The ideas may seem small, but they are not small. There are people who will live their lives through, and take their last breath, having never uttered the idea that God put on their heart. They will stand before their God and be made aware of what He had entrusted them and they hid it because they were afraid. Now is the time to stand up to the spirit of fear that speaks to you in the first person. "I'm just", "I couldn't", "How could I"?, "but I" Those are not your own thoughts, but those of the enemy of all righteousness. Early Church Missions

...being introduce to the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus during his ministry had been making mention of the coming of the Holy Spirit and his subsequent death. Although Jesus' disciples did not initially and fully understand the conditions and necessity of his death, he told them "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you" John 16:7. Jesus was preparing the New Testament Church to be a group of believers held together in unity by the power of God's Spirit and the sum of God's words. Personal Narrative: Joining The National Honor Society

...In high school, I never really got into the normal things like athletics, band, theater, etc. But, I never minded because I found my passion in something else: helping people. I found at a very young age that I genuinely enjoyed helping people. I was told that in preschool, there were lots of foreign children who had trouble communicating with the teachers. I, apparently, was the one who would always help them get their points across. In elementary school, too, I always found myself helping students in need. It was something so natural that it almost felt like an instinct. This continued as I grew and the older I got, the more I was able to help people. When I got to the high school, I was able to join the National Honor Society. I really...

Politics as a Vocation

...Politics as a Vocation: Essay 1 “Politics as a Vocation” is a speech that Max Weber gave to the Free Students Union of Munich University in January of 1919, almost immediately after the end of WW I. He opens his speech by saying he will not take a position on the actual problems of the day, but rather “I shall raise certain questions concerning the significance of political action in the whole way of life” (1, 27). Weber’s main goal throughout his speech is to address the broader philosophical questions of how a person might make politics his livelihood in the sense of a vocation, along with dissecting the idea of what exactly politics is in relation to power, and what characteristics people who are considered to be politicians posses in order to be considered successful politicians. Weber begins by expressing his desire to relay the idea that politics refers to “the leadership or the influence of leadership of a state” (1, 27). Politics in this sense proves itself to be a domineering force, but this begs the question what is a state? Weber promptly answers this question expressing: “a state is a human community that (successfully) claims the monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory… The state is considered the sole source of the ‘right’ to use violence” (1, 27). By defining a state in these terms, Weber is not trying to limit the definition by allowing only this to define the institution, but rather force is the means specific to the state...

Ozmandias

...“Look at my works, ye mighty, and despair!” where is boasting about his works and telling everyone to look at them and see how mighty he is. Although the inscription at the foot of the statue reveals to us who this poem is about, it also shows his idea of his own power calling himself “king of kings”. 2. The poet takes great care to describe, in lines 4 and 5, the ‘passions’ of Ozymandias that are ‘stamped on these lifeless things’ (line 7). What is the effect of the juxtaposition of ‘passions’ and ‘lifeless’? What is Shelley suggesting about human ambition? The passions of Ozymandias that are described in lines 4 and 5 “frown, wrinkled lip and sneer” show the type of leader he was that put fear into those he ruled and looked at his subjects as if they were unworthy. And then the use of the phase “stamped on these lifeless things” is saying that those passions is all that is left behind on the statue. The juxtaposition here is that passions suggests life and lifeless suggests death. What the poet is suggesting about human ambition is that Ozymandias ruled with fear and now that that fear is gone the ruler is forgotten. It suggests that the legacy you leave behind should be more than those “passions”. 3. The ‘hand’ and the ‘heart’ (line 8) are, of course, the hand and heart of the sculptor,...

Into The Wild Chris Mccandless Comparison

...As Krakauer tries to find a concrete identity to describe McCandless unique individual being, Krakauer states that, “he wasn't a nutcase, he wasn't a sociopath, he wasn't an outcast.  McCandless was something else- although precisely what is hard to say.  A pilgrim, perhaps" (90).  Krakauer defends McCandless, as having no defining character, that he is an individual, single and distinctly separate from others.  Krakauer even states that he views McCandless as everything but an explorer because of his passion.  After Krakauer publishes the novel, he receives many letters stating that McCandless had a death wish for going out into the Alaskan frontier without any experience.  However, it is this hunger for the wild and its dangers that tightens the bond for Krakauer, seeing so much of himself in...

500 Days of Annie Hall

...favorable elements of both romance and comedy genres. Some notables are funny jokes and humorous plots, which surround a love story or the search of a true love. Woody Allen’s Annie Hall (1977) and Marc Webb’s 500 Days of Summer (2009) are both movies that fall under the genre “Romantic Comedy”. These two movies are connected in many ways, for each film contains relatable characters and effective narrative techniques to portray a realistic relationship. Each film is also able to portray the differences between the reality and expectations of a relationship in humorous ways that allow them to be called a romantic comedy. Alvy and Tom are two different characters with separate mindsets. In 500 Days of Summer, Tom Hansen, despite his passion to be an architect is an unmotivated greeting card writer who deeply believes in the concept of true love and soul mates. Whereas in Annie Hall, Alvy Singer is a pessimistic comedian and control freak that is seen changing things to benefit him. Both characters due to their attitudes on life and relationships bring forth different aspects that make them such unique and likable characters. Tom strongly believes that he will never be happy until he meets the person that he believes is ‘the one’ for him. Whereas with Alvy he pushes Annie and doesn’t fully accept either Annie’s insecurities or support her as she finds ways to work through them. Summer and Annie, like their male counterparts, are two different types of heroine. Summer is...
