Name of Student Trainee: Pantino, Steffi Kay D. Course: BSA - 4
Faculty Adviser: Mr. Wendell Ang
Name of Company/Institution/Organization: RP Mora Accounting and Law Office
Name of Supervisor: Ms. Victoria Meñoza Area Assigned: Audit Department
Period Covered: December 1, December 3 and December 4 of 2015 No. of Hours: 24 hours Date | What I Did(Activities) | What Did I Learn? | Deficiency/ Concerns | December 1, 2015 | Today, I was asked to vouch for the expenses of Landbank Employees Credit Cooperative by looking into their general journal, cash disbursements and cash receipts for the year. | My supervisor told me that auditing for Landbank Employees Credit Cooperative would be quite a challenge since cooperatives have different accounting practices. While I was vouching for the various expenses, I realized how valuable official receipts are. It is indeed very helpful that they are numbered. | I have no concerns for today. | December 3 , 2015 | I was asked by my supervisor to verify the material amounts of the cooperative’s loans receivable. I again looked into the general journal, cash disbursements and cash receipts for the year. | I learned that before looking into the loans receivable of a company or organization, it is very important that you study their lending policies first. Vouching would be pointless if you don’t understand their lending process. | I have no concerns for today. | December 4, 2015 | We met with our faculty adviser in the morning. And in the afternoon, I was tasked to vouch the disbursements of a mining company. | This is not the first time that I have been acquainted with disbursement vouchers; hence, I learned that some things really need a bit of getting used to in order for you to work better with them. | I have no concerns for today. | Reflections for the Week I had a really great time this week because I enjoyed the fieldwork in Landbank Employees Credit Cooperative. It was a different experience because I was exposed to some of the accounting practices of a cooperative. I was also inspired by the supervisor who brought me there because I can really tell how dedicated she is with her job. What’s more amazing is that she is just a year older than I am. It is during this week that I fully realized how attached I am with the audit team already. The fact that we all are enjoying each other’s company makes accomplishing our tasks much less burdensome. Building rapport is very important in the workplace. |

On the Job Training

...name implies; employees are trained how to do the job assigned while at work. It is the oldest form of training prior to the advance of off-site trainings and still the predominant form in the United States. OJT can save money, and employees are immediately productive in their job role, building in the same time, a solid working relationship. Nonetheless, there are some disadvantages of it is that sometimes bad habits from the trainer could be passed and production might be decreased to get the trainee up to speed. Also some of OJT are done on ad-hoc manner with no formal procedure or content, and during the process, no specific goals or objectives are specified or developed. Not to mention trainers; those usually have no formal or training experience on training. That is what we can call informal on-the-job training. Lynch (1991) supported that a formal or structured OJT approach is more specific to achieve the firm’s objectives, and is easier to measure its effectiveness because the cost and benefits are easily recorded and calculated. It is more likely that firm with high structure adopt formal OJT than firms that are less structured and less formalized. Employees have higher chance to have formal training opportunities in structured environment. The formal or structured OJT have procedure to follow....

Technology Impact

...Technology’s Impact on Employee Training Introduction Technology impacts every aspect of our lives in the 21st century. In our fast-paced professional environments, we continually seek efficiencies with our time management skills and training methods that meet the real time needs of both the organization and the individuals that require that these learning objectives are implemented into their daily jobs. In the past, on-the-job training offered the most effective avenue for transferring knowledge. However, with the introduction of technology in the United States during the 20th century, ensuring quality standards were implemented meant that organizations had to re-evaluate their training methodologies. Additionally, laws implemented to advocate for workers also brought about changes in the approach to employee training. With the onset of technology as a helpmeet for understanding the needs of an organization as well as offering training that helps grow the business, employers began implementing these new technological learning opportunities when offering employees both company-centric and legally required training. Noe (2010) tell us that, “Recognizing the value of human, social, and structural knowledge, many companies are attempting to become learning organizations and to manage knowledge in order to develop better products and improve customer service.” Therefore, as companies proceed into the 21st century and modify their approach to training on a global scale...

Assessing Advertising Efficiency

...ASSESSING ADVERTISING EFFICIENCY Does the Internet Play a Role? Albena Pergelova, Diego Prior, and Josep Rialp ABSTRACT: This research focuses on a major concern for marketers addressing the claims of inefficiency of spending on advertising. We examine whether the Internet can help increase overall advertising efficiency. Using a sample from the Spanish automobile industry, we combine a nonparametric method—Data Envelopment Analysis—with recent important insights from statistics and econometrics studies, and find that online advertising improves the efficiency levels and that this effect is more pronounced in the long-term temporal framework. During the past few decades, expenditures in manufacturing and general management have been declining while marketing costs have risen (Sheth and Sisodia 1995). From a “budgetary” context perspective, the biggest part of marketing expenditures usually goes to advertising and promotion (Ambler 2000). Some empirical evidence suggests that in the long term, advertising has a positive effect on differentiation and brand equity, while this is not the case for promotion (Boulding, Lee, and Staelin 1994; Jedidi, Mela, and Gupta 1999). Although recent studies have found that promotion has a role in building brand knowledge (e.g., Palazón-Vidal and Delgado-Ballester 2005), the “traditional wisdom” of advertising enhancing brand equity has given rise to very high amounts of advertising budgets. However, researchers claim that advertising is “rife...
