...A Child's Education Starts at Home One of my major pet peeves when it comes to parents and their children is this, most parents expect the public education system to do all the work when it comes to educating their child. I am sure you have heard the saying, "You are your child’s first and most important teacher." The biggest contributing factor of a child's success in school and in life, is the attitude and involvement of their parents. Parents need to be more involved in their children's education and play a bigger role, taking bigger steps to help ensure their child's success. Teachers say that their most successful students come from a home where the parents are involved and provide structure, support, and guidance. Children spend significantly more time at home then at school therefore, a child's home is the most important learning environment they will ever have. How can parents get more involved? One way parents can get involved is by limiting and monitoring their child's time in front of the T.V. and video games and encourage more reading and writing. Another way parents can get involved is by setting better examples for their children and by throwing the saying, "Do as I say, not as I do," right into the garbage.
