...Journal 01 Week: Two Date:18/08/2010 Words: 532 Task/Incident: Introducing and Socializing Selecting & Describing With the fear of not knowing anyone I entered in the first class of the Leadership and Organisation Dynamics. As not being a native English speaker I was worried that either the members of the groups will take me into their groups. As the class began my tutor John asked us to write our names in a tag and wear it, we were also required to sit in away so that we are facing each other in the class. John then asked to start the first activity which was to introduce the member sitting in front of each of the students. My mate sitting in front of me was Liam and he is working in hospital as a part time employee. On the other hand Abdul sitting next to me is doing HR as major. I felt that by undertaking this activity john was trying to develop our team or classmates and build strong relationship within our group. The activity enabled students get to know each other and It was about to think which group or people I would join for the group task. Finally at the end of the class john formed us in a small group and also helped us to understand the unit outline. Reflecting & Inferring By being a part of the introductory class I realised that we were all in the same track and therefore we needed to introduce ourselves so that we can all reach our task. The first task was to form PLG(Peer Learning Group) which did require us to know each other so that we are...

...the road and all of the sudden the car coming the other direction swerves and hits a person head on. The victim of the crash probably thinks the other driver was intoxicated in some way, but that person was texting while driving. This shows that sometimes people drive as badly when they are texting while driving as when they’re intoxicated. I had a personal experience of this kind. The author of this article had a friend who was driving down a country road texting while driving. He swerved left of center and hit a box truck head on and died instantly. Everyone in high school at the time knew him so it was quite devastating to the entire student body. There were grief counselors on site for a couple weeks after he passed away. This incident shows how a simple act can instantly affect everyone so quickly. There are more and more texting while driving injuries and deaths happening every day. A lot of these injuries and deaths are in states with lenient texting while driving laws. If communities in the states with these lenient laws helped raise awareness, people may think twice before texting while driving and also raising awareness could possibly lead to the chance to change some laws. Some people believe texting while driving laws make people have to hide their texting behind the wheel, thus making it more dangerous (Masnick, 2012). Regardless of opinions, studies show that there is a significant difference in the number of violations between states with lenient laws and states...

...Definition: We are interested in counseling and helping abandoned rape victims in India, and change the society's perception of them. So we are considering holding a fashion show to raise money and awareness of this forgotten issue in the feminists’ agenda. Current Condition: The reason we are considering our CSR is because raped women in India are facing some serious issues concerning their well-being and welfare, but they are incapable of confronting and overcoming them on their own (George, 2015). We have already done some CSR ideas in the past. For example, earlier in 2012, to boost awareness of the Mitochondrial Disease, we hosted The Chanel Pour le Temps Charity Fashion Show which was a standout amongst the most foreseen occasions of the year (Chanel Pour le, 2012). Moreover, in 2013, a fashion show was held in Paris' Grand Palais demonstrating eco-friendly supplies and handiwork for their recent cloth collection (Reynolds, 2013). Due to Chanel’s hiatus of CSR activities, the idea is to bring the company an incredible social impact by advertising its name in the midst of the ongoing social justice campaigns and feminism movements. As it is a trademark that is made for women and by a woman, it is important for us to help these neglected women defeat their fears and restore hope in their hearts. Course of Action: Beneficiaries We chose India, or rather specifically northern India, for our new CSR because in 2011 a total of 24,206 rape cases were registered...

...Awareness of Individual Responsibility Each individual has an obligation to attempt to perform as an ideal and well-intentioned citizen. In order to achieve this goal, it is imperative to be aware of the significance of such an expression as personal responsibility. Personal responsibility refers to an ability to care for actions, feelings, emotions, good habits, and their consequences. In addition to that, responsibility covers all in regards to the understanding of the effects from making certain choices in life, accountability for obligations, difficulties, as well as the lack of responsibility in some people. The comprehension of all these definitions can interfere and be applied to success in college. The capacity to pay attention to actions and consequences is an ability, which not everyone can embrace. Basically, it is something that typically has to be learned during the early years and should be applied to the rest of the life. For instance, little children understand that by crying, is a way to get a bottle of milk, or someone will change the wet diaper. A child is supposed to understand that if the schoolwork is not finished, there will not be time for recess and so on. Although later in life, depending on people’s backgrounds, costumes, and experiences, the individual begins to form a personality. Unfortunately, not always a fully-grown person ends up having this ability. Robert Peter gives us a simple definition of Personal Responsibility in his article Personal...

...often the individuals the system was designed to protect creating a serious gap in implementing the HSE-MS. Some 4 years ago the former Shell Deepwater Services (SDS) was facing the roll out of their HSE-MS and the question was asked by the Management Team how do we get our personnel to explicitly understand our HSE-MS so that we can get maximum benefit from it? The result of asking this question has been the development and introduction of a series of critically acclaimed workshops aimed at demonstrating an HSE-MS as simply as possible. “Protecting What’s Important 1” and “Protecting What’s Important 2” workshops have received considerable approval from participants for the manner in which the information is presented and for the awareness the courses bring. ...“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9. This bible verse is one of my favorites due to the fact that no matter the sins I have committed he will always be by my side and be the light that directs me down the path I am meant to be on. God has put me on this Earth for a reason and has as plan for me. It is up to myself to figure out the plan God has planned for me and it is important for me to know that God will be with me through it all no matter the circumstance. In order for me to discover my divine design, I first must understand myself as well as my strengths and weakness in terms of interaction with people, the way I learn, the way I make my decisions and how I deal with the world around me. Right now God is asking me to be the best person possible. He brought me to Southeastern for a reason and I am still trying to figure out that exact reason but it feels right being here. I love to be around my close friends and listen to what they have to say and then give them advice about life and the things going on around them. I am an extroverted person so I am not very shy. I believe that in the future God’s plan for me is to be around a group of young adults, maybe young kids or high school aged (young adults). I love to interact with people and I get my energy from others so being around a young group of young people would be perfect for me, kind of like...

...the best strategies used for communicating with each of these clients are listening, communicating, giving honest feedback, observing their visual cues in order to gain insight, or to clarify their situations back to them to make sure you understand it by highlighting their struggles. Then summarize the situation and struggles to see what their most current, pressing needs are that you could help them take care of (Burger & Youkeles, 2004, p. 202). Moreover, in order to adapt your communication approach from one individual to the next you must be aware of what your personal attitudes, biases, beliefs, and knowledge about different cultures that make up your client base in order to consider everyone’s problems objectively, which allows you to define them correctly, make valid assessments, and present a solution that is acceptable to your client. ...good decisions. It’s all about awareness…which is the key to high performance. (read more) Awareness as the cornerstone for high performance As a leader, the best way of getting high performance out of an organisation is to enable your next line leaders to coach themselves and then to turn their attention to coaching others within their group, who coach others within their group….and it rolls on, effectively like waves rolling onto a beach. But if you don’t start from the cornerstone of awareness, you can’t even begin to get the momentum to put that wave into motion. The best way for me to describe this is to use a footy example. When I played for Collingwood, our head coach couldn’t run onto the field in the middle of a game and tell me “hey mate that’s not right.” I had to have my concentration turned up to full, be aware of the job I was supposed to be doing, be aware of what I was actually doing and know if there was any shortfall. I had to sort it out for myself and then mid-match, coach the younger ones around me on the ground, so that they could step up to what they were supposed to be doing. In turn, when I retired, these younger guys took over the process of coaching the more inexperienced guys around them on the ground and so the wave rolls on. Strengths and weaknesses In order to achieve this kind of high performance (whether personal, or to motivate others), you must first have awareness; and the key to awareness is to understand your strengths...

...Surveillance Awareness Project A proposal prepared by Team Underachievers Shea Polansky Gabriela Cde Baca Jacob Nevarez Elliot Nicholas For Dr. Natasha Jones University of New Mexico 2014-10-21 Team Underachievers Memo TO:Dr. Natasha Jones FROM:Team Underachievers DATE:2014-10-7 SUBJECT:Proposal PURPOSE:To acquaint you with our proposal Dear Dr. Jones, Edward Snowden’s leaks about the National Security Agency’s mass surveillance programs created a global debate about privacy, security, and safety. The NSA has the capability to read email, snoop on private social network conversations, observe phone call records, and track the physical locations of citizens not charged nor suspected of any crime, without so much as a warrant. Worse, the demographic most affected this level of snooping on our digital lives, the 18-24 year-old college crowd, is the least knowledgeable and most politically apathetic about the issue. This is a recipe for disaster, and this proposal seeks funding for an awareness campaign that will address it. This campaign will raise awareness about mass surveillance and the Snowden disclosures. We will use posters and flyers to dry attention to the issue. We will use the University of New Mexico as a testing ground, using before and after surveys to gauge effectiveness. If the campaign proves successful, we will recruit volunteers and raise a second round of funding to bring the campaign to college campuses across...
