Now it's time to talk about my strengths that I have obtained over the years starting with planning. One strength I always like to use is to plan events during the day and understand how I'll be able to start them. Over the time, I have known, plans aren’t completed because of unexpected things, however some tasks of my tasks can be continued the next day. Researching information would follow after planning because I don't always have the information I need to start a project. By Researching online and books, it helps me find what I'm missing thus helping me continue my path to completing tasks. Researching online won’t be possible without having any computer skills on the side. Sure, numerous people have used Google, Bing, Yahoo and AOL to …show more content…
I kind of remember having my first seizure in my 6th grade because when it first happened, I woke up in the nurse office without remembering nothing of what happen before. Ever since that day, I had my epilepsy on a dormant phase for few years until one day in college, out of nowhere a simple partial seizure decided to surprise me known as a focal seizure by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). Besides having epilepsy as my main obstacle, numerous states don’t like the idea of a driver having epilepsy, making it harder to obtain a license then other people. The state of California has a more lenient seizure-free period of three to six months because if I had a seizure in January then I can be driving April being the third month and July for the six month. It be even worse if I were to recieve another seizure during the last month period because it would mean I wouldn’t be able to drive for another 3-6 months making the license next to

Personal Narrative: My Personal Strength

...health has taught me that to help others make them feel empower and believe in their own strength. For years, I feel like a book that will give the same message to every family I work with and have felt so proud when I have helped families I work with. Nevertheless, I have forgotten about my own personal strength and the person I truly am, as for years the focus has been working on helping my clients and love one in my life. When reading my personal strength results, I was surprise with the results gathered, as I never imagine to have twenty-four strengths results that concise with me personally. This test was long and detailed, still, astonishing to read. Again, I always focused on other’s strength,...

Personal Narrative: My Strengths At Bethel

...I can honestly say that I feel like I use my strengths every day. Before I started college at Bethel, though, that was not the case. I loved writing in high school and my first years of college. I enjoyed research, reading, and writing papers that presented an argument and moved the reader. At my current position, the only writing I get to do every day is in the form of short emails. I utilize strengths other than writing while at work, such as planning, prioritizing, teaching and developing my team. Bethel has been the missing piece that has pulled all of my strengths together to a point where I feel they are being utilized, and not wasted, on a daily basis. Reading some of the other posts in this section, I cannot imagine how frustrating...

Personal Narrative: My Personal Strengths Of Cross Country

...Some of my personal strengths are running, playing the piano, and playing basketball. These are all strengths that I have concluded from past accomplishments or events related to them. First, I will go into detail about running, or cross country. This year marks my fourth year on the cross country team, and hopefully my most successful year yet. Long-distance running takes some adjustment and practice to really get used to, and so I am very grateful for my coaches training me to run at a high level. One of the things I like about cross country is that you have to be prepared both mentally and physically to endure the full distance of the run, and I am glad to have acquired that mindset in the last few years. Every time we start a new season,...

Personal Narrative: My Five Strength Themes

...My five strength themes are deliberative, futuristic, responsibility, relator and consistency. I found these strengths to be consistent with who I am. Deliberative is described as someone who is serious, careful with decisions, calculated, not easily flattered by words, and one who rarely gives compliments (Gallup 2017). It also describes another part where I feel mostly connected with and that is being “Private”. Privacy is something that I struggle with, I often view “being private” as being weak. But I realize now that this could be a strength and could be used in my favor. Being methodical and careful in my travel plans is crucial, especially when traveling to another country, one mistake could ruin a trip. I often travel to different...

Personal Narrative: My Strengths Of Social Work

...Speaking from a students’ perspective, I believe one of the hardest things to do for a potential employer or professor it to speak about one’s own strengths. Although we all exemplify different strengths, as well as weaknesses, it is not always the easiest to convey those to someone who could be meeting you for the first time. I would never want someone to question qualities about myself, so I hope that this paper will only be the start of my impression to this program about who I am, what I stand for, and what I have come here to accomplish. Thinking about the strengths I embody that would make myself a respectable social worker and looking inwardly at the qualities I hold, I am able to speak about a few that I believe would help me achieve...

Personal Narrative: My Greatest Strengths To Work With Trauma

...My greatest strengths for working with trauma victims is my ability to emphasize with clients and understand human resiliency. First, I can look at client’s situation from their perspective and have insight to their feelings. For example, at my internship, I counsel several nine year old boys who have been exposed to trauma. When I was their age my mother died suddenly, so I can relate to the boys. After my mother died, I felt isolated, scared, and confused. In fact, after her death, I never had a secure and stable home life again. Next, because of my own experiences I appreciate human resiliency, especially in children. For instance, my clients get up every morning, go to school with a smile on their face, and still have hope in the future....

Analyzing How To Say Nothing In 500 Words By Paul Roberts

...Nothing in 500 Words by Paul Roberts, an essay, discusses common mistakes made by college freshmen in academic writing. During my semester of Intro to Expository Writing, my academic writing has greatly improved. My writing started as “Elementary school was like a fairytale; there was a pretty princess and a handsome prince, but I was an evil villain.” And has grown to “Through her diction, Walls creates various tones in order to convey to her audience that despite obstacles, it is possible to escape from a dysfunctional family in hopes of a brighter future.” Using How to Say Nothing in 500 Words, I will be evaluating my own writing by discussing my strengths, weaknesses, and how I have grown as a writer. Writing narratives have always been a personal struggle for me. Unless I passionately come up with a story, and immediately write it on paper, my narratives are bland. It is hard to write personal life-changing stories when I have a deadline. One weakness of mine is using colorful words. For example, a sentence from my personal narrative was written as “It was magnificent with its stained green carpet and plenty of wooden bookshelves stocked with colorful books.” In retrospect, this is how it could have been written, “The spacious library had wooden bookshelves stuffed with leather-bound books, which rested on gritty emerald carpet.”...

Sweet Home Chicago Ethnographic Analysis

...As I reflect on various ways to construct Sweet Home Chicago into more of an ethnographic work, I draw on several different methodologies and recommendations from my fellow class mate as well as my own introspective analysis in conjunction with the class readings. First, one of the key shifts is to unpack for the reader the internal language that I use as a geographer. For example, I reference the significance of “spatial lineage” to engage with the various time-spaces that my family has traveled through that have contributed to my identity as a third-generation Black Chicagoan. Although ethnography is largely an academic practice, the strength that it possesses as a methodology is to invite readers from diverse backgrounds to engage with the culture, spaces, people and...

Personal Narrative

...PERSONAL NARRATIVE 1 When taking a look at how my life has changed over the past five years I can truly and honestly say that I would never have expected the things that have happened. Back in June 2007 I was separated from my husband and moved into my own apartment. I was in the United States Navy for six and a half years at that time. My divorce was finalized in January 2008 and I deployed to Afghanistan in March 2008, for eight months. After coming home from a long deployment, I had orders to move to Lemoore, California. This area is nothing but farm lands and I did not like that at all. I was born and raised in Southern California and enjoyed the fast-paced life that I was living. It is amazing how things have changed. In July 2011 I was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and I moved back in with my mother and two younger sister. Growing up we lived in a condo in Diamond Bar, California, but that all changed over time. The same time that I got out of the military, myself, my sisters and my mother had to move out of our condo and into a two bedroom apartment. Talk about a huge change in life. This move has not been easy for any of us. There is no privacy and we all have to share the living space. I share a bed with my middle sister and my mother shares a bed with my youngest sister. I never thought that I would be unemployed for this long, but it has been over a year since I got discharged. It seems like nobody is hiring right now...

Which Essay Is Better: a Narrative or a Descriptive?

...Which Essay is Better: A Narrative or A Descriptive?   Ever read a story and say to yourself, “What’s happening?” Whenever I read a descriptive essay, that’s what I would say. In this essay I would be comparing and contrasting two types of essays, a narrative and descriptive. I have chosen “Are the rich happy?” by Stephen Leacock 1916 and “Sister Flowers” by Maya Angelou, n.d. By writing my essay, I want to give my views on each and decide which I would rather write. Narrative Essay A narrative essay reflects a personal opinion that is based on your own experiences. This helps you bring a reader into your very own mind and shows him/her the topic you’re writing about through your eyes. Telling a story or event the way it happened for you. It also could provide a sort of lesson or moral to be learned from the outcome of the story as well as what the writer did that contributed to it or not. It’s more on a personal level that any one reading could say that happened to them or that they learned from the story by not doing whatever it was that the writer did. In Stephen Leacock’s “Are the Rich Happy?” the author writes about his experiences with his friends, with of modest income. Most of it, all in his opinion, points out the problems or troubles those with an existential amount of funds in their bank accounts. He goes on to give some examples that he encountered several of his friends going through. “A friend of mine who has ten thousand dollars a year told me the other...

Performance Appraisals

...their employees. Performance appraisals are “the formal process through which employee performance is assessed, feedback is provided to the employee, and then corrective action plans are designed” (Youssef & Noon, 2012). For this assignment I am going to use my mother as an example. In this short paper I will be: describing the occasion in which she was being evaluated, describing the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluation process, and providing at least two strategies to improve the performance appraisal process. My mother works for my Aunt Jane. Jane owns affordable apartment buildings and only has a small staff of five (including herself). My mother is a secretary/inspection worker. She mainly does the secretary work, but once every six months she inspects the apartments (unless it is a problem apartment then it’s done monthly). Jane is pretty laid back when it comes to employer responsibilities. She does not give out yearly raises, evaluations, etc. Rather, Jane goes by a time based example. The ways she looks at it is for every five years she will give out raises if the employee deserves it. Since Jane works side-by-side with her employees, she is always evaluating them on how they do their work. Some strengths of doing the daily evaluations are that the work is always done when it is supposed to be done and it is done the way the boss (Jane) likes it. What Jane does would be considered a performance appraisal. And since Jane knows her employees very well and she is...
