Poop, eat, and sleep, what else are pets good for? Sure they are good to have around for company and viral videos, such as a cat playing the piano, but are they really worth all the hassle? Let’s take a small look at the costs and responsibility that having a dog requires. Now first you have to buy the dog first before we can even talk about its life, right? A pure breed dog can run anywhere from $300 to well over a thousand. Though, that price doesn’t include all the shots the dog must receive nor all the food, treats, and toys the dog will require throughout its life. Not only is price an issue but with a dog comes a lot of responsibility. One must continually walk, feed, watch, and even pick up the dog’s poop everyday thereafter. Before …show more content…
Before you point out what a Pet Rock can’t do, think about what it can do. Oh wait, that’s nothing, that’s right the Pet Rock can do nothing. It’s not even living for Pete’s sake, if it’s left on the counter when the family leaves in the morning, it will be in the exact same spot when they get back. Believe it or not the Pet Rock became the #1 Christmas fad of 1975 and sold over 1.5 million units at $3.95 apiece. Most people reading this are probably trying to figure out what’s so special about this rock, I mean people are a smart enough not to just buy a plain old rock someone can find in a backyard. I’m sad to announce that that is not the …show more content…
The packaging was pure genius and is the star of the entire Pet Rock phenomenon, more specifically the instruction pamphlet, though let’s work our way inside from the box. As described the box was nothing but a cardboard box with air holes labeled “Pet Rock,” though it actually had more value than that. The box alone provides the customer a sense of legitimacy towards the rock actually being a pet, sparking a laugh for most before they even get the chance to open the box. Drawing similarities from other containers used to ship animals by the classic air holes and the stamped font to establish its credibility as a crate. This is idea of legitimacy is followed up by the straw-like bedding that is provided for the rock to rest on. Though as mentioned earlier the pamphlet is what really pushed Pet Rock’s success to another label. Titled “The care and training of your PET ROCK,” the pamphlet provides very humorous info on how to care for your rock and tricks it is able to learn. Excerpts include “Come. It is essential that your PET ROCK learn this command. A rock that doesn’t come when called will cause its owner endless embarrassment,” in which Dahl shows his audience how to teach their rock the command “come.” Another excerpt from the pamphlet teaches how to teach your rock to fetch, “To teach your PET ROCK to FETCH

Does Rock Salt Negativley Affect Lawns

...Does rock salt I use on my driveway negatively affect lawns Name: Date: Assignment: Unit 1 Individual project Does the rock salt used as ice melt on my driveway effect my lawns growth? Introduction: Being from Ma cold climate, We tend to have rather harsh winters, Ice melt in some sodium form or other is regularly used to de-ice walkways and driveways. When comparing different products available, most ingredients include Sodium Chloride or Calcium Chloride. Salt, lowers the freezing temperature of water, thereby making it more difficult to refreeze. Often times, you find dead grass along the walkways and sidewalks after winter, some people attribute this to the ice melt used. Do rock salt and other deicers negatively affect lawns? That is what we will answer in this paper. Hypothesis: Grass is negatively affected by use of ice melting products, due to the sodium. Prediction: If rock salt and other ice melt products are over used, it will negatively affect the lawn by burning the grass, and causing some of it to die. Controlled Experimental Method: Because it is winter here in Montana, and doing this experiment outside on my lawn would present far too many variables, I researched ways of conducting this experiment with minimal amount of variables. Dr. Muriel Gerhard did a similar experiment for kids and posted her methods on the website education.com. I based my methods for this experiment on her experiment. I purchased...

...Assignment 1: Partnership vs. Corporation Due Week 7 and worth 240 points Use the partnership and corporate tax returns for the practice sets titled, “Pet Kingdom” and “ROCK the Ages, LLC” that you prepared in Weeks 3 and 5 in order to complete this assignment. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you: 1. Compare and contrast the tax rules and treatment applicable to corporations and partnerships. Indicate the major way in which the tax treatment affects the shareholders or partners. The tax rules for a corporation are taxed at a different level than the various business structures. Corporations are the only business structure that are required to pay its own income taxes based on the profits received. The corporation requires it to file a tax return using Form 1120 and pay taxes at a corporate income tax rate on any profits. When deciding on what amount must be paid at a corporate level, the amount of tax due must be estimated and are due by the end of the year and quarterly payments are recommended. The shareholders are affected by the corporation tax rules, because they are taxed based upon being owners and working for the corporation and required to pay taxes on their salaries and the bonuses they receive like any regular employees of a company. It must be understood that salaries and bonuses are being deducted as business expenses, so that means that the corporation does not pay taxes on them. Natural Gas Fracking

...Fracking Before I began writing this paper I was neutral on the subject of natural gas fracking, I had never heard of it and had no idea how destructive this process of extraction was. The further I got on this report, the more furious I became that this was happening on US soil, and not only that but people in the highest levels of government were not only sanctioning it, but using their power in public office to advance the agenda of companies that they were either running before they cae into office, or companies that friends were running, or were just giving them kickbacks, which would be the only reason that anyone would let this go on. After doing just a small amount of research you realize rather quickly how detrimental this process is, not only to the environment, but to the helpless animals who had had wells built in their migration patterns. Not to mention the helpless children whos parents had no idea what the were getting themselves and their families into when they signed what appeared to be a harmless contract allowing a drilling company to put up a small rig on their property. Who didn’t realize that in a short amount of time they would be able to light the water coming out of their faucet on fire, that their animals would loose their hair, have problems eating and die. The fact that any human being would allow this to be done to other human beings all in the name of money is beyond me, but I’ll get into that later. What is hydraulic fracturing anyway? The...

There have been many changes, additions, and improvements during this time. Adventurer Ministry has shown huge growth as well. Youngsters in this age group are full of energy and get excited about being a part of an organization that is designed to expand their view of their world and strengthen their relationship with God, Mom, and Dad through ways that are so much fun. The roof over Adventurer Ministry is supported by several strong pillars. You hold in your hands one of them: the latest updated manual covering all 83 currently accepted Awards for use around the world. There is of course, one small problem: This area of Adventurer fun is not a static field of possibilities, it is a constantly growing—maybe almost exploding—source of activity. Therefore even at the time of this edition’s printing, there are already more Awards being...
