...This really upset me because when I was reading this, someone who I have witnessed living life and having kids, was gone from the story and gone from their lives. I was very torn up when Ashima was arguing with the lady on the phone who was telling her that her husband died because Ashima was in pure disbelief, avoiding something she didn’t want to believe. I could not imagine going through what Ashima was feeling when she got that call. She was lost because nothing was wrong with him and all of a sudden he was...

...Project Selection and Risks Miguel Rodriguez Project Management Integration Framework BA647 Grantham University Project Selection and Risks Project selection and project risks go hand in hand. Choosing or even not choosing a project, can create risks. Projects are designed to allow organizations to either develop something new or to improve on something already in place. Any given organization can have many good projects that can improve its products, but if the organization is lacking a good project management program and/or has a meager project portfolio, then project risks becomes an even bigger issue. The process for selecting projects can create several project risks; such as having too many projects with limited funds/resources, unforeseen external risks, inadequately trained staff, and multiple of unforeseen problems, causing changes and delays to the project. Some of these examples I just mentioned, can be avoided or minimize with a good project management program. This paper will discuss some of the things a good project management program would include. The overall purpose of a project management program is to help in identifying the unknown risks and to help minimize the known risks. “Without adequate analysis of projects, no one has much idea of what “going right” looks like, so it is not possible to identify and manage the risks – the things that may go wrong” (Kendrick page 20). Even with this knowledge, some organizations at different levels...

...behavior within the workplace. Then explain how organizational behavior affects project management along with how project manger should adapt his or her approach to complement organizational behavior. Next describe the three organizational structures and explain how each one affects the projects being done by team members. Organizational behavior means to maintain and enhance interaction levels among the employees in the business (Organizational Behavior, 2011). For examples, managers needs to know how to lead with good leadership skills, have open discussion so employees can voice his or her opinions, and have set challenge initaives to help the business achieve its strategies in the project. Another example would be in a group setting while informing the teams on the project inform them of the initiatives of completing the project in a timely matter like few day off or a bonuses pay, but the project has to be done with the best research and best results. Organizational behavior affects project management by influceing the team that he or she can get the project done when the team works together (Organizational Behavior, 2011). For example the project management was assign to come up with ideas to increase the space needed to improve the pediatric department to accommodate more patients. For this project the management needs to influences the team on the importance of making this project come to life. Letting everyone know that there is a need for more space to help...

...According to John Kotter, there are eight essential steps to take when you are leading change. The first step is to create urgency, meaning you need to create the initial motivation to change within the organization. In the case of Blockbuster, we will need to not only communicate our poor performance, but express the urgent need for us to change our business, or face being pushed out of the market by our competitors. Seventy five percent of people within the organization need to be on board with change in order for the change to be successful (Kotter). The first step is very important, as failure to get everyone motivated to change will result in the change not gaining momentum, and ultimately failing. The second step is to build what Kotter calls a “change coalition”. This step involves asking members of the organization to make a commitment to change, and a commitment to communicate the urgent need for change with others. The people who will be most effective will be good leaders, and of course, those with a large stake in the organization. The third step is to create a clear vision for change, and communicate that vision frequently. We will need to determine the values that are essential to the change, and summarize what we see for the future of our company. We will then create a strategy for facilitating change, and make sure that every member of our change coalition can communicate our vision accurately, and with a short summary. The fourth step is all about communicating...

...Cignet: Process Gone Wrong Cignet: Process Gone Wrong Cignet Plastics Corporation is a major and favored producer of plastic die casts for model airplane. Recently the company has experienced troubles in production regarding the quality and amount of defects that have been produced. Quality assurance has shown, through process audits, that there has been no change in the system process. Quality assurance also suggests that the defects may be due to variations in the process but are not sure what they might be. The president of the company does not understand the findings of quality assurance and wants to overhaul the entire process to reduce defects. Unfortunately, an overhaul would be very expensive and if it is a variation it may not fix the problem. In this essay one will explore the main cause of the defects. One will also become aware of some of the quality management tools that can be used to present data so that the defects can be fixed. Also one will learn why it is important for managers to employ process thinking in order to fix quality issues. The first issue that must be completed is letting the president know that an overhaul of the current process may be expensive and timely. I would tell the president, “An overhaul of the entire system to fix the defects may prove to be expensive and timely. It is my belief, through the audits of quality assurance, that there may be issue with variations in the process. What this means is that there may be one issue in the...

...Lack of Accountability - Project Management Introduction Over the years, project management has become an integral part of business operations in a wide array of industries. It can be defined as “the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It’s a strategic competency for organizations, enabling them to tie project results to business goals – and thus, better to compete in their markets” (What is Project Management, n.d.). In order to project managers to meet their projects objectives and goals, accountability and communication is imperative. One of the 10 top reason’s projects fail is due to a lack of accountability, according to Villanova University (n.d.). This paper will go into detail regarding how a lack of accountability and communication can affect a projects overall success. It is important to remember project managers and project team members all need to hold themselves accountable for the success and outcome of project (Mullaly, 2013). Additionally, the project manager is not only responsible for holding themselves accountable but also the whole project team, all on top of their other responsibilities and projects. For this very reason, understanding accountability and creating a system to foster it plays a significant role in the success (Mullaly, 2013). Mullaly (2013) explains that project managers have a set of tools, some more than others, to help in efficiently fulfilling their job and responsibilities...

...To begin, people who have personal accountability are able to recognise, accept and take full ownership of tasks or projects that squarely fall into their area of responsibility. This includes any results they contribute towards or create. When something does not work out, or deadlines are not met, an accountable person is the one that look at themselves first to see how they affected the end result. They do not blame others or the situation, rather they think about their input and focus on avoiding the same mistakes in the future. As individuals, it is our capacity for self accountability that keeps us functioning ethically and responsibly. While people may be accountable to others, they may not be as accountable to themselves when there is no one else to observe, monitor or hold them responsible. Self accountability is the cornerstone of ethics. It is who you are and what you do when no one is watching. When you have a well developed sense of self accountability, you are honest with yourself, and are answerable and responsible for what you say and you do. You have the ability to look beyond the immediate moment to consider the consequences and know if you are willing to pay them. You would then have what they call personal ethics. Personally, I believe Personal ethics is the precursor to professional ethics, since we are not likely to be more ethical in our professional life than in our personal life. As this saying I found goes, "No matter where you go, there you are." In...

This would be forty times the two million dollar limit of your PLI. There are indications that a design error contributed to the loss....
