Research Project
Research Question
What are the reasons that graduates living in Tallahassee area under the age of 25, are remaining in this location as opposed to moving?
Structure and Justification
This research proposal is qualitative in nature because I am gathering information regarding the various reasons that these individuals are remaining in Tallahassee after graduating as opposed to beginning a new life outside of the region. I want to determine the different factors that result in these recent graduates continuing residency in Tallahassee. I believe that from socio-economic, pregnancy and other situational factors all contribute to the decision to live in this city. I am studying the decisions made by these post-graduates, and not calculating the various statistics that each categorical reason has associated with it. For this reason, this proposal is qualitative and not quantitative.
Measurements
The primary source of data will come through interviews, a structured set of questions, and categories that will have certain parameters. I will observe economic and social norms as well as changes.
Participants
A random sampling of recent graduates is to be acquired fitting the age requirement. No bias is to me made for race, economical standing or gender.
Methods
I will use journal reports and interviews as my primary research method. Social media will be reviewed as well.
Results Reporting
Categorical bar graphs will be used as well as percentages outlined in text. Summaries and descriptions of the reasoning will be given as well
Future Research
This project has various benefits to the future development of the community. From business models that cater to this diverse group remaining in Tallahassee, to housing needs and land developments that will suit the regions ever-expanding population. The implications for the types

(2003). Research methods are used by all students, teachers, and professionals in every aspect . There are several different methodsto use when conducting research in which data to be collected when doing research. The most effective methods used are by observation, interviews and questionnaires. According to Saunders et al. (2003), there are two types of observation and each of them is responsible for collecting different types of data. The first observation type is participant observation which is primarily employed to acquire qualitative data and focus much of effort on identifying the particular meaning behind each action and behavior. Compared with participant observation, the other types of observation is are structured observation which is quantitative-based and concentrates more on the frequency of each action and behavior. In this observation phase, however, the researcher was using structured observation in terms of data collection. Gill and Johnson (1997) mentioned that participant observation requires researcher to fully participate into the life and environment of their targeteding group and activities, not just simply to observe it but try to feel it. ...

...Introduction… Pg 3 Evaluation of Research as Quantitative… Pg 4 Evaluation of the Methodology… Pg 5 Explanation on how the researcher used this method… Pg 6 Comments on the contribution of the research… Pg 7 Conclusion… Pg 7 References… Pg 8 Introduction “Friction between Public Relations( PR) and advertising( marketing) comes from bad organizational alignment,” says Scott( Anonymous 66:3). This quote shows us there are many discrepancies between both fields. This quantitative study was conducted by Miss Margalit Toledano, from the “Management Communication Department” of The University of Waikato, New Zealand. By using questions compiled in the form of a survey, 39 New Zealand practitioners were tested. The research problem, questioned the influence of inter-profession challenges, by examining the differences between the PR and advertising industries (Toledano 230). This research problem is significant, because the results of the study showed that PR practitioners were not able to take advantage of the technology, such as social media, in an effort to leverage their professional status or improve their position within the company. This problem is made worse, through the reality that both PR and advertising are still looking for ways to benefit from social media, and both industries are still in the infancy stage of using social media. This research is important because “Social media promises...

...Rottmann, Sacks, and Reeve (2015) uses comparative analysis of qualitative data, which they collected through nine focus groups and seven interviews. Beck (2014) utilize a mixed methods methodology to try and determine what predicts servant leadership behaviors. This research was conducted because one of the major problems with servant leadership is the lack of empirical research conducted in this area. The mixed method research model was used because the researcher did not believe that only a qualitative or quantitative research study would give a complete picture of the topic. The researcher selected the servant leadership questionnaire (SLQ), which was divided into two parts. I have been familiar with qualitative, quantitative and the mixed...

Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts: Part 1

...Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts: Part 1 Business research is the key to understanding how to promote sales and increase company efficiency. It helps managers to be successful, and prepares them to make smart business decisions to help the business grow. Companies may choose from a variety of approaches to conduct their research. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods are reliable in aiding to achieve success. But, no matter the approach or method of research taken, there will always be key points to look out for when doing business research. Such as, the importance in learning what makes your product or service stand out against other competitors in the industry and how to market it in that manner to consumers. Brands and Consumer Behavior Marketing to the appropriate target is the goal in which to be achieved for almost every business. When a business puts its focus on the needs and wants of their proposed consumers, the chances of reaching that consumer is more likely. In this research, a questionnaire was developed to explore the correlation of brand image and brand equity with consumer purchase intention. Meenaghan (1995) defines brand image as product knowledge that enables consumers to identify a specific brand. Blackwell, Miniard, and Engel (2005) describe how brand image has both tangible and intangible associations for consumers. Bhat and Reddy (1998) define brand image as an information prompt. When it comes to brand equity;...

Data Collection Essay

...Qualitative and Quantitative research Quantitative Research Quantitative Research options have been predetermined and a large number of respondents are involved. By definition, measurement must be objective, quantitative and statistically valid. Simply put, it’s about numbers, objective hard data. The sample size for a survey is calculated by statisticians using formulas to determine how large a sample size will be needed from a given population in order to achieve findings with an acceptable degree of accuracy. Generally, researchers seek sample sizes which yield findings with at least a 95% confidence interval (which means that if you repeat the survey 100 times, 95 times out of a hundred, you would get the same response), plus/minus a margin error of 5 percentage points. Many surveys are designed to produce a smaller margin of error. Qualitative Research Qualitative Research is collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data by observing what people do and say. Whereas, quantitative research refers to counts and measures of things, qualitative research refers to the meanings, concepts, definitions, characteristics, metaphors, symbols, and description of things. Qualitative research is much more subjective than quantitative research and uses very different methods of collecting information, mainly individual, in-depth interviews and focus groups. The nature of this type of research is exploratory and open-ended. Small...

...via the weeks’ discussion questions. Much of the article was regarding methods of collecting data using modern technology. The author’s suggestion was to use the newer methods “in conjunction with tried-and-true research methods” (Thomas, 2013). The reasoning is, “they just might help us identify fresh solutions to a range of marketing problems” (Thomas, 2013). Some of the technologies discussed within the article include video cameras, GPS, and near-field communication (NFC). According to the article, video cameras are a good way, for respondents to a survey, to record videos of different settings and events and submit them as part of their answers to the surveys. The article continues to suggest GPS can be used to plot “traffic patterns through shopping centers, neighborhoods and cities” (Thomas, 2013). The suggestion is also made that “surveys can be triggered at particular geographic points” using GPS (Thomas, 2013). A new concept introduced to me through this article is that of NFC. NFC is a system that permits radio communication between smartphones and other devices by bringing the devices together. A system currently in place that uses this technology is Google Wallet. Google Wallet is a method of replacing traditional credit cards. The author of the article explains that qualitative research benefits much from wireless devices such as smartphones and tablets. “Participants in qualitative projects can respond on the go or while visiting particular stores or geographical...

...Since time immemorial, research has been part of human life. There have been several research methods that have been used in conducting different research projects. Due, to different aims and objectives various researchers pick on different research methods in doing research. This essay seeks to look at two major research methods namely quantitative research and qualitative research method. The purpose of this essay is to analyze four main differences between quantitative and qualitative research. Amongst the key points to be examined in this essay include the difference in the data format, difference in their analytical objectives and flexibility in their study design. To fully understand, the foregoing essay there is need to define the term Research. Leedy and Ormrod (2001), define research as the process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting data in order to understand a phenomenon. Allaga and Gunderson (2000), defines Quantitative Research as explaining phenomena by collecting numerical data that are analyzed using mathematically based (in particular statistics). Creswell (2002), posits that Quantitative research uses mathematical models as methodology of data analysis, he further asserts that if there are no numbers involved, then it’s not quantitative. Qualitative research is an unfolding model that occurs in the natural setting that enables the researcher to a level of detail from high involvement in the actual experiences, Creswell (2003). Bryman (2008) asserts...
