Today’s health care manager should have the capabilities to understand management techniques, along with the skills needed to manage within the proper health care environment. Management setting functions should include planning, organization, leading, and controlling organization.

A manager should be able to adapt and respond to changes within an organization that is required by the needs of the patient population served. Managers need to be accountable for productivity, cost containment, safety, confidentiality, and decision making skills. Effective managers should be accountable, with a proper understanding of keeping a diverse workplace as wells as other important functions that contribute to effective management, and create a quality work environment. With an understanding the management roles may vary depending on their industry, all managers in the health care industry should manager effectively by being accountable, proper management process, using the principles of effective time management, recognizing their department’s intellectual capabilities, and all essential successful management techniques. However, in order for a manager to be successful they should have a good understanding of the business environment, and all parties involved with the success of the organization.

Today’s health care patient’s demands have increased in regards to improved technologies and services. As a result, managers in the health care industry should constantly improve ways to stay updated and continue to satisfy new consumer expectations.
