Examples Of Rebellion In Romeo And Juliet

...Teenagers are expected to follow through with what society thrusts upon them and handle it in a reasonable manner. Instead, they are faced with either rebelling against what they face or simply following through with it. As a teenager, the ladder does not seem like a very rational solution, they adopt a ‘my way or no way’ mentality which is displayed throughout time. Teenage Rebellion is a wide-spread theme that is used in multiple works of literature, music, and movies. One work of literature, that is most likely the most famous for using this theme, is Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. Coincidences

...about possible coincidences in their own life. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, two ordinary teenagers met by chance and immediately fell in love. Unfortunately, within a one week span, death, pain, heartache, and turmoil was spurred. The interception of the Capulet invitations list, the finding of the Capulet garden by accident, and an important letter that never reached its final destination are three major events in the play; all coincidences, all with the same, tragic ending. In the beginning, a Capulet servant made the mistake of asking a question, which would eventually lead some Montague boys to a party, and lead Romeo to fall in love at first site. Romeo and Benvolio both help read off a list of people who had been invited to the Capulet Mask Ball to the servant of a Capulet. But by doing this, it gave Benvolio and some of the other boys to go to the party and for Romeo to go as well to get his mind off of Rosaline. Romeo seemed reluctant to go, but gave into pressure and went to the party after many arguments. When, at the party, he started to loosen up and have fun. Romeo was miserable with his thoughts of Rosaline, but at the party, he saw an abundance of other girls and was certain to enjoy the party while it lasted. “And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? For swear it, site! For I, ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” Romeo finally saw Juliet and is overwhelmed by her presence. He has entirely forgotten about Rosaline...

Romeo and Juliet

...question on everyone’s mind is whether Romeo and Juliet were driven by true lust or love? Some may argue that they lust over each other, and do not truly love each other. Sexual desire is not the case for Romeo and Juliet; it is merely inexperience and immaturity. Firstly, Romeo is just another confused teenager, he does not know love, but he wants love. Romeo is not in love with Juliet or Rosaline, but rather, in love with the idea of love. He goes off of impressions and does not know who Juliet really is, due to the brief amount of time they have been together. In the early parts of the play, Romeo is shown with internal conflict, desperately in love with Rosaline, but the minute he sees Juliet, he changes his mind. Juliet is also inexperienced with love, so she has strong feelings over Romeo's impression.  Secondly, it is impossible for one to fall in love at first sight, despite popular belief. Love is something that takes time to develop slowly. However, a week is not enough time for love to develop. It is true that Romeo and Juliet were devoted to each other until their very deaths, but it was not true love that they had. Love and infatuation differ so slightly that this remains a common misconception even today.  Lastly, Juliet had men hand-picked by her parents, whom she did not approve of. Juliet was a teenager and felt trapped underneath her parents' constant reminder than she had no freedom - and so she rebelled. Juliet never was able to have her say in the...

Multiple Mistakes In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

The ways include the fact keekybear contradicts a lot of her points she tries to make, she talks about Rosaline more than Juliet and Romeo and Juliet is who this paper is based on, and she has a lot ifs in the paper, but not actual evidence. These mistakes alone make this argument she’s building a bad one. I am no english whiz, but this paper was extremely back and forth. When I say back and forth, I mean it is very contradicting.
