Is Romeo a tragic hero or just a tragedy in himself? Romeo is a tragic hero because he has the traits of a tragic hero. A tragic hero is not the normal superhero that usually first comes to mind, flying, super strength, telekinesis, ect. Some traits of a tragic hero are, hamartia, tragic flaws that lead to the hero's downfall, and catharsis, a feeling of fear or pity felt by the audience for the inevitable downfall of the protagonist, and hubris, disrespect for the natural way things work.
In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Romeo portrays the characteristic of hamartia, flaws that lead to the downfall of the hero. Romeo shows and has many flaws in the tragedy. One of his mistakes or flaws is that he is unaware of the trouble he causes to the
