I’ve learn’t a lot from the sentence structure worksheets. Sentence structure is important because it can make your ideas sound better and well thought out. Additionally, the way you write leaves an impression on the reader. For example, if I had bad grammar all throughout this paragraph, what would you think of me? This is why I believe sentence structure is important. In this essay, I will explain what parts of the worksheet were particularly important, what parts I found difficult and what I can do to improve my sentences.

The most important parts of the worksheet to me was commas and the semi colon. I have been taught some rough rules on when to use commas. Though, these are very lenient rules. It was good to brush up on these rules and tricks. For example, knowing words that you always put a comma in front of like but and yet. Last year I used way too many commas so this exercise was a great refresher. Secondly, I have never been taught in much about when to use a semicolon. I learn’t that the semicolon is lighter than a period but heavier than a comma. The semicolon can be used to list off things. For example, before I play hockey I do 3 things: one, visualize; two, stickhandle in the backyard; three, eat a big meal. In conclusion, I learn’t more about types of punctuation. …show more content…
I did not understand the idea of joining the two ideas with a subordinating conjunction. Though, as I worked on it I grew my understanding, and it became much easier. The most helpful part of the workbook was how to use pronouns. This was helpful because it can help me make my sentences clearer. For example, saying, “In small towns, they do not lock their cars.” The more clearer sentence is, “Residents of small towns do not lock their cars”(pg 130 Fit Form and Function). Lastly, to improve my sentences I can check over them multiple times and refer to the sentence structure
