Kunst 1600 Case Study

...1. What are the major, quantifiable value and price elements associated with the Kunst 1600? Value Elements - The total cost involved in oil changing and messiness is reduced Price Element - Increased pump durability -- The Kunst 1600 lasts 2 to 3 times longer than the incumbents in most segments. This means that repair firms will have to buy more conventional pumps than Kunst 1600s. This impacts the price a repair firm has to pay for conventional pumps (i.e., 2 to 3 times greater) and not the number of jobs it can complete. 2. What additional value placeholders merit consideration in your value model? • Weight differential – The Kunst 1600 is lighter than pumps currently used in residential AC repairs and heavier than those used in home refrigerator and light commercial refrigerator repairs. These weight differences may impact technician preferences. • Durability of parts – As the Kunst 1600 is constructed of molded aluminum, its parts may be subject to less corrosion and thus last longer. • Brand equity – Currently, Kunst and Atler have little brand equity in the potential market segments. This may put them at a competitive disadvantage with long-established rivals. 3. Construct a customer value model for the Kunst 1600 in the residential AC, home refrigerator, and light commercial refrigerator repair market segments. Exhibits 1 and 2 contain the components needed to construct a customer value model for the Kunst 1600. Exhibit 1 contains the word equations...

The market is attractive because its size lowers the cost of capital for borrowers, and allows investors to diversify their portfolios, thereby reducing their risk. Advances in information technology, and the deregulation of financial services and the relaxation of regulations on cross-border capital flows have contributed to the growth of the global capital market. The chapter then goes on to explore the Eurocurrency market, the global bond market, and the international equities market. Obesity in America

...Obesity in America Our nation’s obesity problem has become an extremely pronounced problem in our country. We were once known as a healthy country that knew the meaning of the word moderation, but that has quickly took a turn for the worst and is now almost obsolete. We always need to “supersize it” or get the biggest thing available on the menu. One of the largest contributors and causes to this ongoing epidemic is the fast food industry. With the low-cost easy to get foods many people would rather purchase that than making a quality meal at home. With these low cost fast food meals the quality directly suffers and you left with the sub par ingredients that you are putting into your body. These ingredients make your health suffer at incredible levels, which directly causes obesity. For example McDonald’s uses an ingredient (dimethylpolysiloxane) in the making of their Chicken McNuggets. This ingredient is the same one used in making silicone cosmetic products and also silly putty! (1) Americans are choosing to ingest these foods that puts their health at risk. As you know moderation is not something that Americans are necessarily good at. So when they go out to these fast food restaurants they usually order the largest meal they can, and even “supersize it” if the option is available. These fast food enterprises have realized that too and have started catering towards this “larger” demographic. In the past sixty years the soft drink portion has grown by more than six times...

Fitness

...Olajumoke Oke-Bell Fitness Walking Tuesday/Thursday 8:00am – 9:05 Three important factors that needs to be considered in order to incorporate exercise into our daily lives. a) First, lack of exercise is harmful to our health. Sadly, many Americans today are leading a sedentary lifestyle because of modern conveniences. This cause many overall health issues. The most serious crisis is the condition of being overweight or obese. According to the report by Lunau, Kate, “Don’t just sit there: It’s tied to obesity, diabetes, even cancer… and daily exercise won’t make up for it. In 2004, 66% of US adults were obese, 16% of American children were overweight, with another 34% at risk of becoming overweight. These statistics, as startling as they are, are expected to rise even more. In fact, US researchers predicted that 75% of Americans will be overweight by the year 2015. What’s more, a sedentary lifestyle, also linked to the development of many illnesses, such as cardiovascular (or heart) disease, strokes, certain forms of cancer, and high blood pressure. These serious health issues can be prevented by adding exercise to our daily lifestyle. b) Next, is the biggest misconception that exercise has to be a chore? People who shy away from exercising say it’s either too difficult or too time consuming. WRONG! Too often, people assume the only ways to exercise are to go to the gym or to go for a run, but in reality the best way to keep you and your family fit is to make exercise a...

Merchant of Venice Thematic Essay (Falsehood)

...1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Educated assumptions are all that scholars have in terms of sources relating to the early life of Shakespeare. However, information about his adulthood has been gathered and allows for people to get to know the poet a little more personally. Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582, in Worcester, in Canterbury Province. Shakespeare was only 18 when he and Anne got married. His young age did not stop him from becoming a father shortly after his marriage in 1583, when Anne became pregnant with twins. Hamnet and Judith were the names of their children, however, young Hamnet died of unknown causes at age 11. After the birth of Hamnet and Judith, there are seven years of Shakespeare’s life where no records exist. After these seven “lost years” of his life, in 1592, evidence shows that Shakespeare had earned a living as an actor and a...

...table fare. The advent of blackened recipes from the bayous of the southeast has also increased its popularity. Red Drum Fisheries Management of Coastal Florida The Red Drum inhabits inshore, near shore, and offshore waters throughout the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. The adults spawn in rivers, bayous, and tidal areas and the fry will reside there for up to four years. This species can reach lengths of forty five inches and weigh as much as fifty pounds. Spawning is triggered by cooling waters and a decrease in daylight hours associated with late summer and fall. In 1989, the Red Drum was considered overfished in large part due to the fishing pressure placed on the species by recipes of “Blackened Redfish” introduced in Louisiana Cajun style restaurants and the chef’s that enjoyed success from the new menu item. In an attempt to control and regulate the harvesting of the species, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) instituted a slot limit of eighteen to twenty – seven inches with a bag limit of one per person. They also mandated a closed season from March to May yearly. Commercial harvesting of the fish was outlawed completely to the chagrin of commercial fishermen statewide. These measures have been viewed as a success by fisheries biologist and the FWC in general as the goal for the stock rebound of forty percent escapement was exceeded. This figure represents...

There is also little to no awareness as to the way we humans either intentionally or unintentionally contribute to the worsening situation in our water bodies. This study used the DPSIR model in analyzing the problem of the pacific gyre from a systems perspective. It focused on the impacts of the pacific gyre on the environment, plants, animals as well as the ecosystem. The study also looked at societies responds to this problem of plastic debris and those the author suggest as alternatives. ...LINEAR PROGRAMMING FORMULATION PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS 7-14 The Electrocomp Corporation manufactures two electrical products: air conditioners and large fans. The assembly process for each is similar in that both require a certain amount of wiring and drilling. Each air conditioner takes 3 hours of wiring and 2 hours of drilling. Each fan must go through 2 hours of wiring and 1 hour of drilling. During the next production period, 240 hours of wiring time are available and up to 140 hours of drilling time maybe used. Each air conditioner sold yields a profit of $25. Each fan assembled may be sold for a $15 profit. Formulate and solve this LP production mix situation to find the best combination of air conditioners and fans that yields the highest profit. Use the corner point graphical approach.
