Yes, girls should be able to play the same sports as guys and guys should be able to play the same sports as girls. We all have equal rights so no one is better than the other. We all can do the same thing as the other person can do in sports. A girl can run the football as good as a guy if they are built but that is their choice. They choose whether to lift weights or not to. They can shoot a basketball as good as a guy can. Girls are no different from a guy. They can work as hard as one maybe even harder then some guys. Girls can fix a roof of a house just as good as a guy can. They just need some help sometimes from other people and so do guys sometimes to. It is their choice to do it or not. They can pick to join a boy sport or not.

Stereotypes And Sports

...My opinion of the matter is that girls and boys should be able to to play on the same team. I'm a little biased, as I have played soccer for 11 years now, about 3-4 of those years, girls have been on the same field as us boys. I personally don't think that i'd matter whether or not girls and boys played sports together, as, depending on the skill level the team should be at, each person can have their benefits towards the team, whether they are a girl or boy. Also, I don't know why they can't be on the same team. Everyone has their own interests. A lot of boys think that girls can't play football as it is a "sport for men", and some boys will make fun of others for being in gymnastics, cheer, etc. My last reason everyone likes certain things, and so they should be able to play whatever sport they want, whether or not it is "only for girls" or "only for boys"....

Girls Should Not Play On The Same Team Together Research Paper

...Do you think girls and boys should play on the same team together? My answer is no, why, because girls can easily get hurt. Many girls have been hurt playing sports with boys. Also, girls are not as aggressive. This one fact can change the whole game. Girls may not play as hard boys. Anyways, it is fun to root for a friend that is a girl. Additionally, boys wouldn't paly as hard against a girl as they would towards another girl as they would towards another boy. Most boys would want to keep it simple. The boys would like to keep it simple because boys would look bad either way. Imagine, if a boy beats a girls at a game, the girls will complain, that's not fair. If a girl beats a boy at a game, they will hoot and shout about how they won against a boy. Also, what is two plus two, the answer is four, right? Then chane the first two to a negative two, you have just made things a lot more complicated. How, because negative two plus two does not equal four, it now equals zero. See what just putting a negative in front of a number does, imagine what would happen if you put girls in sports....

Essay On Sports Teams

...Keep it Separate Girls and boys sports teams should be separate. Girls should not be able to compete with men in sports. However, in this century many people are advocating for equality. Gender discrimination has always been an issue. By keeping girls and boys sports teams separate, the game will be fairer. By allowing girls to be on boys sports teams, that would call for boys on girls sport teams. There was a wrestler in Iowa who forfeited to a girl wrestler because of his faith. He was praised and criticized for his decision. Due to the differences in physical make-up, mixed skill levels, and team dynamics, it’s not a good idea to bring teams together that have both genders. What mainly separates girls and boys is not how we think, but how...

Women and Sports

...In today’s society women are not allowed to play baseball with men due to patriarchal myths and misconceptions that have been around since the emergence of baseball in America. All women should be able to play baseball with men and there is no legitimate reason why they shouldn't. Women are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of playing baseball just as men are. With that being said their biological sex or gender should not and does not affect their ability to play baseball in the company of men. In addition their sex should not deem their athletic ability as inferior in comparison to men. Since the adoption of baseball as an American pastime, the sport of baseball has been cultivated and altered to amputate women exuding the masculinity of baseball. The emergence of baseball as popular and profitable sport has failed to acknowledge and highlight the athletic abilities women. Instead its conception has affirmed women to be fragile and it has also depicted women to not have the skills or talents to play and compete alongside men. There are numerous individuals who are opposed to fusion of women and men on the baseball field. These individuals use demeaning stereotypes and beliefs to support their claims. Often these claims are false and are not supported by factual or scientific data. For example these claims say that women are weaker than men, women are not physically capable of playing sports, or a woman's place is in the home rather than on the playing field. These...

Why Boys Lacrosse Should Not Be Allowed In Sports

...Girls lacrosse is a very competitive sport. Many rules, enthusiastic athletes, and college scouts are constantly looking. With all of the restrictions, there are numerous punishments, and there are many things that women prefer differently. No checking from behind, no cross-body checking, no upward checking, no entering the sphere, no pushing forward or backward, no hitting with a stick, no slashing, and no checking in the head. These are simply the physical defensive rules; there are many more that apply while on the field. Girls are required to wear goggles and a mouthguard, and no jewelry is permitted. ...Do you want your kid to be encouraged to have big dreams and do what they love? Well I know that I would. I believe that young athletes do have the same opportunities in playing sports. One reason I believe that it’s fair is disabled kids can still do sports and participate in sports as well. My second reason is that girls can also play in sports like football. Then my third reason is that parents that can not afford to take or get their kid into games, so maybe coaches take them or pay for them. Disabled is a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movement, senses, or even activities. Well, in my world I think that disabled kids are not all cut out they can still play sports and do fun activities.Today, US Education Department Office for Civil Rights has released guidance that clarifies existing legal obligations of schools to provide students with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate alongside their peers in after-school athletics and clubs. Girls' Basketball Camp

...Girls’ Basketball Camp Thirty seconds left on the shot clock and there are five confident and athletic girls who have no time to take a breather. The game of basketball is not easy. To run a basketball camp, there are many qualities needed such as enthusiasm, knowledge, teaching ability, and the willingness to interact. Locating a site to hold a camp, determining the right dates, finding the participants, and finding volunteers are the many steps involved to running a successful camp. That is why running a basketball camp for middle school girls is a hard job to do because of all the people and equipment that is involved. The very first step to running a basketball camp is to have the appropriate facilities. If the participants are going to enjoy the camp, having a clean and nice facility will increase the chances of it. In order to practice somewhere, permission is needed first. The location of the camp is important. If most of the girls are participants from the same school, holding the camp at the school gym is a great idea. In order to reserve the gym for the camp, dates and times must be set. The players are unable to participate in the camp if they do not have permission from their parents. These permission forms should ask the parent(s) permission if their child is allowed to be active in the camp. These permission forms should be turned in at least a couple of weeks before the actual date of the camp to know exactly how many girls are attending. Showers and...

Gender Ideology: Women Should Not Play In Professional Sports

...Gender ideology helps determine masculinity and femininity even in sports. Sports have become a major source of community for many people, but specifically for men. They tend to be more masculine in nature except for events like figure skating and gymnastics. Therefore, men seem to take control and possession of the sports world. Women were not even involved in sports in the later 1960’s and before that. However, since they have been getting more sports programs and have become more involved in physical activities, women have had to deal with slightly more adversity than the men. There have been some people who believe women should not play sports. Some think in the two-sex system meaning that men should only play in specific sports and women...

Gender Socialization Through Toys and Sports

...through Toys and Sports In today’s society, there are many guidelines of how one should act and be. Gender socialization is the process where people take on notions of gender roles, gender ideas and gender behaviours. At an early age, boys and girls are told how to behave and act according to societal norms of gender behaviours and roles. The comparison of Jane Smiley’s article “You Can Never Have too Many” and John McMurty’s , “Kill ‘Em! Crush ‘Em! Eat ‘Em Raw!” provides an insight about how gender socialization is conditioned through toys and sports at an early age. Also teaching and reinforcing stereotypical gender roles through traits, appearances and occupation. (this is an incomplete sentence and it doesn’t flow very well with the previous sentence) Specific toys and sports are associated with certain genders and generalizes the role that boys and girls should uphold. Male characteristics are thought to be strong, tough and are unable to show weakness whereas female roles are to be nurturing, supportive and caring. In Jane Smiley’s article, the author focuses on how Barbie plays a positive role model in her daughter’s childhood. Barbie is portrayed as beautiful woman who posses feminine qualities. Young girls who tend to play with Barbie dolls have a mind set that they should grow up to be like Barbie. “Lucy could apply lipstick with her eyes closed by the time she was five.” (Smiley 238) This quote shows that children are easily influenced by the toy they play with. In comparison...

One interesting thing was that the men made all of the important decisions in the house and the wives usually got no say in the decision he was making. I don't like how the wives didn't have a say in it, they should be able to help make the decision because it it their family/home too. Transgender Discrimination In Schools

...It may seem to coaches the students are just going through a phase and they will grow out of it. School officials and coaches may use the term "The sports corrective." This is when they (transgendered students) are pushed into organized sports teams as if participation in such activities will correct their gender nonconformity( Mallon & DeCrescenzo, 2006) Transgendered students who haven’t undergone any surgeries or haven’t started any transformation to become the opposite sex don’t have the option to participate with the gender they identify with in organized sports. If a male considers himself a female, and they haven’t undergone any surgery or taken any hormones to change their body, then they aren’t able to participate in sports with women. For example, now that Bruce Jenner has transformed into a female, his gold medals will likely be taken from him, simply because the rules state that women can’t participate in “men’s” sports. This is just the tip of the iceberg regarding what transgender students face in school. A bigger problem that transgender students face is...

Pee Wee Research Paper

...Pee-wee sports leagues are very popular in our society. Growing up, I have noticed that it has always been popular for parents to sign their kids up to participate in sports like soccer, dance, tee ball, and gymnastics at a very young age. Children appear to enjoy their participation since they get to make new friends and learn how to play a new game. However, around the time a kid exits the childhood phase of life and enters the early adolescence phase (at approximately 11 years) participation in sport decreases dramatically, especially in female adolescents. In a statistical overview of sport and recreation participation by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2012), it was found that female participation rates dropped by 9.7% between...

A Girl's Look Into Sports

...Name: A Girl’s Look into Sports North Carolina State University Self-esteem is defined as the confidence and satisfaction in oneself. One of the key elements in a girl’s adolescence is the proper development of self-esteem. Adequate self-esteem is a major component in the proper development of teenagers, especially females during the adolescent years. Without a good measure of self-esteem, young girls may grow up lacking basic skills needed to succeed in life; athletic involvement beginning at a young age is a good way to begin developing necessary social skills that will lead to greater self-esteem later in life. Although participation in sports can have a negative effect on teenage girls, the positive impact the sport has on them greatly outweighs the negative. Research has found that the most common negative effect of athletics on females is over training. Over training occurs when the body is pushed beyond its limits both physically and emotionally. The more females participate in sports, the higher the risk she has of obtaining a sports-related injury (Sabo, 1997, p. 38). The more competitive the sport is, the more training is needed in order to be successful, and this training can become risky to girls’ bodies. Girls tend to over-train under pressure, which in turn, leads to unnecessary injuries. Some of the most common injuries girls sustain due to overuse are stress fractures, kneecap disorders, and compartment syndromes (Storm & Jenkins, 2002, p. 164)...
