...Insight Inventory Analysis is a valuable strength based personality assessment tool that evaluated my behavioral styles. The final results provided me with a better understanding on how I conduct myself in different circumstances and how to communicate more effectively with my peers. These behavioral preferences are centered on four traits that include assertiveness and influence, how I respond and relate to others, the pace of my decision making and how I take action, and how I organize and handle details. The overview of my work and personal style scores on all four traits were consistent, suggesting that I behave equally in most situations. My behavioral preference for influencing others, expressing my opinions and asserting myself in both my work and personal style is very indirect. I generally prefer to steer clear of conflict when necessary and present my thoughts and ideas in a way that is acceptable to others. I typically find that when I want to persuade others and present my thoughts, concerns and ideas, I utilize a more encouraging, approachable style and believe that collaborative efforts that include my fellow peers is the best approach and it leads to a more committed staff....

...Elkhart County Community Assessment Report Written By: Jeremy McCord – Project Coordinator and Elkhart County CTC Community Assessment Work Group Executive Summary Elkhart County utilized the Communities That Care system as a capacity building tool to aid in the Strategic Prevention Framework process. The Strategic Prevention Framework is a 5-step planning process that guides the selection, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, culturally appropriate, sustainable prevention activities. Communities That Care is a tool used to guide a community through the assessment and prioritization of risk and protective factors most in need of attention and links those priorities to evidence-based and data driven programming to address them. It is important to remember that the Communities That Care system is simply a tool to aid in building a prevention infrastructure referred to as the Strategic Prevention Framework process. Communities That Care and Strategic Prevention Framework are not programs nor are they administrative names for program implementation. They exist and work together in helping communities get organized, identify problem areas based on community data, make knowledgeable decisions pertaining to how these problems should be addressed, and evaluate any actions taken to counter the problem areas. Each phase of the Communities That Care system fits well into a coordinating phase of the Strategic Prevention Framework process, and it is clear that sustainability...

At the same time, studies suggest that IQ without such specific teaching may account for only 4% to 10% of life success (as cited in Wilson & Conyers, 2011). Brain-based research is a...

...There are several steps need to begin the assessment process. The assessment, planning and implementation are the most important. The strength based approach is used during this process. The assessment phase helps the client and professional focus on the positive aspects, abilities, and experiences that the client has had using the strength based approach. The professional has the client recall how they handle certain situations and the success they have had with this. The first step to this is initial contact with the client. This can come in different ways such as a phone call or meeting in person. The professional should have all the needed documents pertaining to the client. This gives the professional a chance to review the case. During the initial contact the professional should be documenting everything that the client is stating. This allows for a record to be kept and gives the professional something to look back on at later times. When the initial contact happens this is when the process begins for the client. After information is gathered the planning process can begin. In the planning stage it is vital to understand the strengths, abilities, and resources available to the client to form an effective plan. In this process it is important to remember that all environments have resources available to them. These environments can contain a number of things such as home, church, etc. the more resources that a client has the better chance for change. The biggest part...

...result being skilled based employment. Effective transition planning at the high school level is vital for individuals with intellectual disabilities to develop job and vocational skills. Post-secondary transition goals are developed for every individual at the high school level with the intention of harnessing the individual’s interests and skills into paid employment after graduation. IDEA identities transition services as a “coordinated set of activities” that promote movement from “school to post school activities.” Research studies report that post school activities and employment rates for individuals with intellectual disabilities were slightly under fifty percent according to Douck and Joshi (2012). Years of transition goal development and implementation occur at the high school level with the primary focus of employment for the individual. If transition planning and skill development are effective at the high school level, why do current employment statistics reveal less than fifty percent of individuals with mild intellectual disabilities obtain employment and less that twenty percent of individuals with severe intellectual disabilities? The purpose of this literature review is to examine high school transition planning and its correlation to the employment outcomes for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through valid related literature, I will examine the process of developing transition plans and the utilization of assessment, implementation of the...

...Professional Development Plan Working in a learning team is challenging because of the different dynamics of the individuals assigned to the team. Each individual has different characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. As the team leader the application of the following professional development plan, based on the team member’s DISC behavioral assessment, will provide a means to identify the individual’s strengths, weaknesses, and outline a means the team leader can use to communicate with each behavioral style. The plan will also explain how an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the styles provides direction for improvement to achieve personal career goals. The individual’s assessments place the members into three of the four styles; Cautious Style, Steadiness Style, and Dominance Style. Since additional members may be added to the team or included in future learning teams, the professional development plan will also include the Interactive Style. Understanding the differences between the behavioral styles is instrumental for a team leader to know “how to engage others whose own DiSC styles may be quite different” (Sugerman, 2009, para.9).
