...Part 3: Telecommunications Considerations for M-Coupons According to NetInformer, a provider of mobile coupons: [Mobile Coupons] have higher redemption rates than paper or e-coupons because they are not forgotten, or left at home. M-coupons can drastically reduce delivery and redemption costs, and trigger impulse buys (Netformer, 2008). Additionally, the site notes that m-coupons allow a business to offer real-time discounts by region, track results by customer, and offer rewards for customer loyalty. One concern with an m-coupon marketing campaign has to do with the relative newness of the strategy. A unique id could allow a coupon to be verified; however, there is the concern of people fabricating new coupons. If the coupon is a text-message, then this is relatively easy to accomplish. If the coupon is an MMS, then we are burdening the customer with having to download it. Another issue is the potential perceptions of the customers receiving the texts. Will they consider receiving m-coupons just another form of spam, which gives customers a negative perception of the business (BizCommunity, 2008)? Tempering the number of coupons sent out, keeping them infrequent enough to avoid this perception is important to preventing the campaign from backfiring There is a problem with this particular marketing idea that is a showstopper. For the wireless network or whatever system that is being used to know that someone is within a 15 foot radius of the store, it would have...

It began as an innovative conceptual idea for a café style retail arts and crafts store in 2010 after the owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) visited a number of yarn shops and realized a need for a shop that bade more than the common knitting and crocheting supplies found in traditional arts and crafts establishments. ...I have recently inherited my grandfather’s coffee shop, The Broadway Cafe, which is located in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. The cafe offers many different kinds of specialized coffees, teas, a full service bakery, and homemade sandwiches, soups, and salads. The café was first opened in 1952, and was a local hotspot in the area for many years. Downtown Columbia, SC is definitely a great area to have such a business. It is a vibrant commercial and residential city center. There are numerous businesses, law firms, banks and real estate corporations; also located in the downtown area of Columbia, are the University of South Carolina, the Columbia Museum of Art, Columbia City Ballet, and the Nickelodeon Theatre. Although my grandfather was an expert at running the coffee shop then, it is now outdated. The café has no computers, no records of the café’s regular customers, or records of the family recipes for the baked goods and soups. These very important objects are nonexistent today, because my grandfather kept them locked away in his terrific memory. Other issues are all ordering takes place manually, as well as the inventory, employee payroll, and marketing coupons are all tracked in a notepad. The Broadway Café does not have a Website either, which truly hurts business in this current day of technology. Because of these weaknesses that Broadway Café possesses, business has been steadily declining, over the last five years. By using key winning resources, we will...

...Tough Decisions, Hard Choices: A report on where Lodge Bistro is now and what the future might hold 1. INTRODUCTION Patricia Lodge CEO of the Lodge Bistro chain requires a brief strategic overview of her present situation and outline possible future improvements. 2. PROBLEMS The structure of the company has radically changed over the past two years from a functional and formal structure to a service structure with emphasis placed on informal relational structures. Managers now have far greater autonomy without appropriate checks balances creating inconsistent performance between them. Also and perhaps most significantly, specialisation of the managerial role has led to a de-standardisation of the brand. Inconsistencies across sites in managerial operations have led to wide disparities in training appraisal, food production and provision. This undoubtedly has impacted staff turnover and customer service. Lodge Bistro’s are ‘thriving or diving’ dependent upon the capabilities and experience of the manager. The Open University states this well (B120, Book 1, p 36). Often a trade-off exists in a service structure approach; on the one hand they become more “responsive,” but “expertise can become fragmented.” Long serving managers believe newer managers are lowering standards in pursuit of profits, whilst new (perhaps more specialist) managers feel they are reacting to changing customer needs. 3. CONCEPTS Structure does govern function; moving...

...Our Proposed The business we like to propose is a café for student studying purpose only. The café is named “Distinct Café”, it mostly serves F.5-F.7 and HKU students. The students can do revisions, interact with peers, eat and drink. By analyzing the general environment, we found that students are difficult to find a place for their study. Even if they can find a place in the self-study room, there are strict rules applied so that the students are not allowed to communicate, talk, eat or drink, but communicate is very important in today’s studying curriculum, also for most students, they have a habit that they like to eat and drink during revising . As a result, this is an opportunity for us to develop our business, café for studying purpose. We also analyzed the specific environment; we find that there are no café which is aiming to studying purpose. We think this is our strength to compete with the traditional café for the student market. Why it will work for us A café do not require much capital and with low entrance barrier. The key barrier is in establishing a huge customer base. Reputation is the most important factor in attracting customers. As a result, our strategy is planed to develop a good and strong image of our café. We monitor the student behavior well and provide good services and materials. A good image is the key factor to raise our reputation. As we are student too, we know what do students want and concern, so this will be our strength in serving...

My grandfather has ran the business for 59 years using no technology this process worked up until five years ago now business is steadily declining now it is time for change. The first step to insure success is to invest in computers to store recipes, payroll, inventory, ordering, and marketing coupons. A valid website will also be helpful. So, I came up with many ways to make our family coffee shop better. Our new website is http://broadwaycaf.webstarts.com this should help us to reach a wider range of people. Our company name will also be put on popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing this process will make it easier for our customers to find. A suggestion page will also be added to the website to get feedback from our customers. To obtain new customers I would need to advertise and set a grand re-opening. This will allow customers to view the changes being made with products, staffing, and procedures while still keeping the environment traditional. Competitive Advantage It is very important for us to have competitive advantage because it helps us to be in a better position in the business environment. ...Running header: THE BROADWAY CAFE Lloyd Wayne Murphy Reengineering: The Broadway Café Strayer University Professor Eve Yeates WINTER CIS 500 March 10, 2012 Abstract A customary coffee lovers rendezvous in the heart of academia stands The Broadway Café arose established in 1952, by my grandfather neighboring the open campus of the University of Texas (UT), Austin, Texas, and my grandfather in his last will and testament rendered the ownership of café as a bequest to me upon his passing. The eatery had under his stewardship presented its clientele with a repertoire of superlative cuisine, exotic beverages over the years, as well as a rendering of an assortment of specialty coffees, teas, and a complete bakery, offering a plethora of pastries, assorted sandwiches, salads, and potages. The issue stands as to whether the eatery can arise to stand as a financial windfall or fall into a financial dilemma. However, my grandfather possessed exceptional expertise in operating the eatery, the eatery’s nontechnological business operations remain today in the same manner as they did in 1952. Consequently, the eatery had incurred a progressive decline of five years of clientele. The eatery possesses no computers: the eatery’s orders take place by hand, or maintain a Web site: thus, consequently, the marketing occurred via the eatery’s clientele. The eatery’s promotion coupons occurred via pamphlets and newspaper clip outs, the eatery’s payroll, and inventory tracking...
