...Playwright Terence (Publius Terentius Afer) wrote Adelophone (The Brothers) over two thousand years ago, but the theme of his play lives on into today’s world. Demea, father of Aeschinus and Ctesipho, has decided his brother, Micio, should raise Aeschinus, while he would raise Ctesipho himself. Micio is a city-living liberal while Demea is a country-dwelling conservative. They’re both raising their respective sons under their respective views. Micio and Demea feud over which brother raises their son the “best” while the two younger brother’s go through a quarrel themselves over a love they’re both interested in. A happy ending occurs when each of the brothers (all four) realizes they’re being ridiculous. The play itself gives us a brief overview of the staging, which is quite different compared to Prometheus Bound where no staging was given to us. The stage directions read, “Two houses on a street in a city imagined to be Athens. One, the more opulent, is Micio’s; the other, the more humble, is Sostrata’s. Two entrances on either side, one from the town, and the other from the country.” Typically, in Romance theatre, the stage is set up with the scanae frons having three to five doors. This particular play would have four; two door would be on the ends and then two doors in the center. The two center doors would be that of Micio and Sostrata. The doors on the end would be the town and country doors. If I were to stage this play, I would do just the same staging....

...John Fallavollita Fallavollita 1 Kellie Cannon English 112 January 27, 2015 Satisfaction by Needle In The Tattooer, by Tanizaki Jun’ichiro, the author creates a character named Seikichi, who struggles with satisfaction. As the artist inflicts the pain of his needle into the men he seems to take on temporary satisfaction. He desires and searches for something more temporary and becomes drained as he finds what he is looking for. Although everyone seeks out for some sort of satisfaction, At the beginning of The Tattooer, you will encounter the generalization, seemingly introducing the stories message that “his pleasure lay in the agony men felt as he drove his needles into them, torturing their swollen, blood-red flesh; and the louder they groaned, the keener was Seikichi’s strange delight.” (Jun’ichiro 80) But this statement is then contradicted by the suggestion made later in the story that “Seikichi had cherished the desire to create a masterpiece on the skin of a beautiful woman.” (Jun’ichiro 81) This opens up a significant inconsistency in the text: is it suggesting that he wasn’t completely satisfied by inflecting pain on men or, on the contrary, the only greatest satisfaction Seikichi would feel would be by tattooing a beautiful woman. Jun’ichiro unfolds his story of Seikichi, who was an artist who then became a skillful tattoo artist. Many men have been used for Seikichi to create his art by poking his needle into their body. He would use their body as his canvas...

...CS: The rise and decline of Habitat The young designer Terence Conran opened a home furnishing store called Habitat on Fulham Road, London in 1964. Conran´s enthusiastic young team quickly established Habitat as a trendy, furniture and lifestyle company. It pioneered stylish, modern-looking, relatively affordable products, very attractive to young, married couples brought up in dowdy, post-war 1950s homes. The Habitat chain expanded across the UK during the late 1960s and 1970s in busy city centres and in major European cities. Habitat became a public company in 1981; it merged with Mothercare, the mother and baby goods retail chain, in 1982. The combined public company acquired Heal´s the specialist furnishings store at its prestigious Tottenham Court Road location and Richards, the women´s fashion store chain. In 1986 Habitat-Mothercare plc merged with the down-market British Home Stores variety chain, renaming the enlarged group Storehouse plc. Conran, by now a wealthy man, remained chief executive until 1988 and chairman until 1990, as he pursued a range of business and other interests. Storehouse executives grappled with the integration, rationalisation and future strategy of this disparate retail group. By 1990 Habitat seemed to have lost its freshness and design flair. Swedish IKEA entered the U.K., quickly establishing several massive, out-of-town warehouse-style home furnishings and accessories stores that offered UK consumers a radical new shopping experience. Its...

Areas for further discussion and analysis arising from the case can include: the future development of Habitat within the global strategic framework laid down by IKEA; analysis of the motives of Storehouse in disposing of Habitat, including the future development of a smaller Storehouse; and issues relating to market segmentation and positioning, with specific reference to retail brands. Gary Warnaby International Marketing Review, Vol. 16 No. 4/5, 1999, pp. 406-416. # MCB University Press, 0265-1335 Habitat ± early development The first Habitat store was opened in Fulham by Terence Conran in 1964. By meeting a demand for more design-led products the company became one of the retailing successes of the 1960s. Indeed, Conran's belief that good design should be available for every customer was almost missionary in its zeal. Habitat was one of the first ``lifestyle'' retailing concepts and it certainly struck a chord with customers. Despite the fact that expansion of the Habitat concept was characterised by caution and...

...As the set designer for The Winslow Boy, I have made several decisions to reflect the characters and to create an accurate re-imagination of a early 1900’s household. Such as: A warm fireplace adjacent to Arthurs chair, to indicate the warmth and heart of the family. The chair will be placed near to show that Arthur is in a position to look after and protect the family. Arthurs chair will be made out of high quality leather as leather is often used to represent solidity and hardness and masculinity, showing that Arthur is quite a masculine and dominant figure. The chair must be clearly a high quality and long lasting piece of furniture. As if we refer back to the text Arthur mentions he still receives a ‘small pension’ from the bank, meaning Arthur used to work in the bank, which shows he has knowledge on the value of money meaning he perhaps bought the chair as it would last long and be an investment in the long run. The high quality will also help explain to the audience that the Winslow family is quite rich and upper class. Directly on top of the fireplace there shall some old fashioned frames with specific photos. The first, which will be placed on the right, will be of a man, quite old, which is Arthurs father Winslow, to show Arthur and the family have great respect for his father and shows Arthur is a character who strives to be as respected. The second, will be placed in the middle; a large portrait of the 5 members of the Winslow family, Arthur and Catherine on the...

...My wonderful partner's name is Terence Wong. His name means ruler of the Earth. Terence was born on August 28th, 1999. The same day Henry Hudson discovered the Delaware Bay, in 1609. He was born in Queens, New York. Terence is an inspirational, intelligent, and athletic person. One quality that I love about Terence is that he is inspirational. Terence was diagnosed with arthritis since he was seven, and this was a huge obstacle in his life. However, he loved playing baseball, so he decided to continue and not give up. Another inspirational idea is he would like to be a scientist, to find the cure/ prevent diseases. He would be very interested to cure cancer, asthma, and influenza. Overall, Terence has inspired us to help others, and to overcome any daily struggles in our life. Another trait that I've noticed in Terence is that he is very intelligent. During math class Terence easily understands the lesson, and he is able to do very well in graded work. In math he received more than ninety percent in each quiz/test, and he says it is all because he studies and goes to every extra help possible. He also is in all Honors, as well as the Principal's List. To be a part of these enrollments, one must be academically successful in all subjects. This really makes people realize that if you will try your best, you will succeed exceptionally beyond you're limit. Finally, last but not the least I've noticed that he is extremely athletic. Since he was seven he started...

...business and its owner. This is the most common form of doing business in the United States ( Terence Lau and Lisa Johnson, 2015) | Two Advantages | There are many advantages to this type of business. First it is easy to create a sole proprietorship. The entrepreneur in charge simply starts the business. Another advantage is autonomy. The owner is able to decide what they want to do with the business, concerning hours, rules, and regulations and decide all of the factors needed to run the business. ( Terence Lau and Lisa Johnson, 2015) | Two Disadvantages | There is also some disadvantages to a Sole Proprietorship. Firstly there can only be one owner, so it is not possible to bring other in to the business. If the owner dies, then the business dies as well. Another disadvantage is raising the working capital for the business, especially to start the business. Without the capital it is difficult to expand the business and produce profits (Terence Lau and Lisa Johnson, 2015). | Liability | In a sole proprietorship the liability feature is an unlimited liability. This means that there is no different between the owner and the business, so the owner is liable for all of the debts and obligations of the business. If the owner runs into financial difficulties, he or she is personally liable to pay these finances. All of the personal assets of the owner are reachable by creditors (Terence Lau and Lisa Johnson, 2015). | Income taxes | There is no legal distinction between the owner...

Thus, the evident financial goals are as follows: * Sustain a 7% growth in sales within the first six months of operation * Ensure that a second store is opened after a year of operation * Make a more than 30% of the initial capital within the first year of operation Review of financial statements Terence (2003 p90-178) emphasizes that in US, there prevails two main financial statements which have also been incorporated globally as the fundamental financial statements in financial reporting. ...being implicated in the Black Sox Scandal in 1919. He was associated with other players who had intentionally thrown games for profit. Now over the years there has been great debate on whether Joe was guilty of being part of that group since he had played exceptionally in the World Series. However, the commissioner banned Joe and 7 other players from playing in the MLB for life. In the movie, we Ray Kinsella successfully seek for players so they like Joe can have the ability to get one last shot to play the game that they love. In the end, they do get to play and receive the redemption that they were looking for. The second example of redemption is with the character Terence Mann. Terence was a misanthropic, secluded author who decided to join Ray on the journey to find the players. In the end, I believe that Terence was looking for redemption for his past writing works and does find it in order to start believing in his power of ideas. Lastly, I believe that Ray found his redemption when he set out on this journey. This is because when Ray was younger he wanted to become a baseball player but after reading Mann's book at the age of 14 he had stopped. Additionally, at the age of 17, he no longer viewed Joe as a hero but more as a criminal. As a result of this, it had created a troubling estrangement between Ray and his dad John who viewed Joe as a hero. Towards, the end of the movie we see Ray redeem himself in part because of building the field and bring the players together...

...bands. This Jazz Combo was performed by the University Of Louisville School Of Music and was held in Bird Recital Hall. These bands included the Clark Terry Combo directed by Tyrone Wheeler, Terence Blanchard Combo directed by Ansyn Banks, and the Fats Navarro Combo directed by Ansyn Banks as well. One of the bands that I enjoyed the most was the Terence Blanchard Combo which was directed by Ansyn Banks. This group consisted of Jon Driver who played the saxophone, Doug Finke who played the trombone, Hanks Evans who played the piano, Will Kinman who played the bass, and John Walther who played the drums. Most of the performers were young but the older men still kept up with them and made for a great performance. The band itself felt comfortable playing their instruments, but seemed a little timid when it came to actually performing in front of everyone though. They were confident in what they were doing, but just seemed like they were a bit nervous in the beginning. The energy with each other was a little sluggish at the beginning of their performance but picked up midway through the first song and continued to increases as they performed their second piece of the night. They all got into their instrument and you could really feel the passion they had for playing it as well. The Terence Blanchard Combo, as well as the other bands, played two different pieces. The first piece they played was called “Strollin’” and composed by Horace Silver. The saxophone played by Jon Driver...
