For the year of 2018, there has been multiple school shooting across the U.S with many resulting in both the death of students and faculty members. The most recent shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida has caused society to protest and speak out towards the advocating of reforming gun- control laws. I mean, I don't want to have a hundred guards with rifles standing all over the school. You do a concealed carry permit. This would be a major deterrent, because these people are inherently cowards." This course of action infuriates me, for starters by taking this course of action teachers should be required to have a deeper background check to possibly prevent an ex-convict charged of manslaughter from obtaining a teacher position ,and teachers should be expected to be mentally and emotionally stable for there could possibly be a situation where the student could catch a serious attitude with their teacher which this could cause the teacher to get highly irritated and create them to pull out the weapon to frighten the student or worse with the student resulting in death. On CNN live, Senator Marco Rubio said, “I absolutely believe that in this country if you are 18 years of age you should not be able to buy a rifle. I will support a law that takes that right away.” Alongside this idea he also supported banning bump stocks and improving country’s background check system. Although this is believed it is taking away the rights to bear arms as a citizen, I would rather endure losing a right rather than having to witness a minor or young adult obtaining a weapon with the intention of harming others. If the legal age to consume alcohol is 21 because a person is more mature at that point, why not make 21 the legal age to obtain a gun as well?
