Tuckman's Teamwork Theory This theory identifies that teams are not a fully functioning unit from the start and that they grow through four different stages of which Tuckman has named: Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing. Phase one is called Forming - This is where all members of the selected group try to work out what their position in the team will be, and at this point they get to know and find out about each other. Phase two is called Storming - This is the section where individuals start to gel together and begin to feel part of the team, but at this point they may question the way task should be carried out and because of this there is a chance that confrontations may arise within the group which in turn could cause conflicts
