Schedule: Saturday- 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Respondent’s Name: Bless D. Lumpay Date of Interview: March 18, 2015

I. Background:

This interview was conducted near the Public Market of Minglanilla, City, Cebu at around 9 o’clock in the morning.
She is Bless D. Lumpay, a 17 year old girl. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. Dominggo Lumpay and Ms. Myrna Lumpay. Her father and mother are both 50 years old. Her parents doesn’t have jobs for now. She has a younger brother named Blair D. Lumpay who is 14 years old and a grade 9 student of St. Catherine’s College at Carcar, City, Cebu. She is currently studying her first year at Cebu Institute of Technology- University (CIT-U) with a course of Civil Engineering (CE). She lives at Inoburan, City of Naga, Cebu.
In terms of physical aspects, she is a girl who maintains simplicity. She has a medium length of height and is a healthy person. She is fair-skinned young lady with a black hair off to her shoulders. She wears her school uniform neatly. Her physical attributes is well-managed.
She is a type of girl who is funny and easy to be with. She enjoys answering frankly and directly to what she really feels inside. When it comes to her studies, she really believes in herself. She has the positive mindset to finish it and be a succesful professional someday. She has an extensive and clear vision as to who and what she sees herself.

II. Description of the problem:

Bless D. Lumpay is experiencing two major problems. First is her chosen course. When she was about to graduate, she did not have any plans on what to take to. She just ended up taking the school’s entrance exam and got the course of Civil Engineering (CE). According to her, she had lately knew what she really wanted to take. She thought of taking COMMERCE but she wondered if she can easily look for a job with it after schooling. She then realized of continuing her first course since her family supports her in the said field.
After days and months of being a Civil Engineering student, she felt exhausted and hopeless due to lots of projects especially to her major subject area which is Math. Obviously, she’ll be facing lots of mathematical equations to be solved and will encounter numerical values, graphs and drawings since she’s with an engineering course.
These things make her hard to pursue her studies. She needs to focus and observe on every angle of her work to create an appropriate one. It could only take one mistake to vanish all the things she tries to work hard. With this, she is now losing eagerness and willingness in continuing to do perfection prior to her works and activities in school. Her class starts at 12 0’clock in the afternoon but she wakes up midnight just to study and finish her drawing activities. She also goes to bed late to continue some of her minor but considered as major activities. Doing and continuing the course she does not love at first make her feel bored and tired. She came to a point that she decided stop her studies but her parents did not allow her. Probably all the things she need to do are being done with force and not with real willingness.
Her second problem is her parents. Her parents doesn’t have jobs for now. She expected that her mother will be a housewife since they need someone to manage them at home. Unfortunately, she feels hopeless because until now her father still does not find job. Considering that she and her younger brother are currently studying both in private institutions, having no money is really a big problem for them. She said that they cannot say no to their tuition fees and other school finances. Somewhat like they’re used to have a fair life of living before but after her father got back here in the Philippines, he is now suffering difficulty in looking for a job. It would almost be two years by October. She admitted that she and her brother are being raised before with enough money to support them that’s why her parents can afford to send them into private schools. During those times she didn’t have to budget her allowance wisely since she will still have extra money to buy whatever she likes. She considered it as an oppurtunity and a blessing. Now she can say that they’re quite down. Fortunately they can still eat three times a day, pay their electric bills and go to their schools. These are through with the help of her Aunt who lives outside the country. Her Aunt is her mother’s younger sister and is also managing her own family. They are being supported financially every month. It’s her mother who budgets the money for the expenses. This somehow lessen the financial burden of her family.
As to with Bless and her mother, it’s a nice feeling to live with their own hardwork and money and to have your own source of income. They don’t like to always rely on someone for them to survive in their daily undertakings.

III. Goal of the Respondent:

As to with her situation, she is now having decisions on how to solve them. With her course, she may not have the pure heart with it, she is optimistic enough that she can do it. She decided to continue her first year of studying as a Civil Engineering student. She may have difficulties in maintaining good grades but somehow not to experience failing is enough to make her feel deserving and worth it despite of the sacrifices she have done. By next school year, she will shift to another engineering course- Industrial Engineering to be specific. Some will might say that she is wasting time but according to her all the things will just be credited since she’s still with the same department. She just wanted to make her own decisions before it’s not too late to recognize her real dreams. She added that whatever it is, she can do it. With the help of her family and classmates, she finds it easier to do better and reach for her desired goals. She will follow her choice and do it in the best ways she could and will have no regrets at all. According to her, studying and depending on her own capabilities will make her succeed.
In addtion, with her father’s situation, she will just study and workhard for it is the best that way to pay all her debts to her family especially to her Aunt. Eventhough they’re not fully stable with money, the love and respect among them remain. She has the full trust that a job is waiting for her father. A job that is really meant and intended for him. She know fully well that they will not give up especially her father.

IV. My own solution to the problem:

Listening to someone’s problem is one of the culture of the Filipinos. It is an opportunity to know how a certain individual can affect your view of thinking and your life. As the interviewer, my solicitude is expected to arise. I can see that Bless Lumpay is a cheerful girl but in the midst of the session her genuine emotions are halfway shown.
Starting with her first problem, if I were in her situation, the best thing I would do is to basically shift with another course. If I’m not happy with my chosen career why not go to what really makes me happy? The world’s next time is too far, they’re still lots of opportunities waiting if only you have the courage to make it. Same with her, I will continue my first year of study as a Civil Engineering student and by next school year that’s the time I will go to what is really my aim and plans. Nevertheless, success will not only be measured with degree and awards, it is on how you are proudly and happily doing the things you aspired of.
Going to her second problem, as the eldest daughter, the greatest help I can contribute is to encourage my father not to give up and not to lose hope. Nothing would be more delightful than offering my concern and love to my family. Showing gratitude also helps in making them feel special and wanted despite of our problems. I strongly believe that these things are the basic tools to build and help your own family during down moments. Lastly is to trust, for it binds every members of the family.

Star Air Ambulance

...TO: Management, Stakeholders & Employees of STARS Air Ambulance FROM: Sharaz Khan, CIO DATE: March 1, 2008 SUBJECT: Revamping Information Systems (IS) Unit Today’s challenging healthcare environment demands an experienced organization that can deliver innovative service solutions, while operating on budget. We at Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society or STARS Air Ambulance service have the experience and expertise to meet these needs, making us the preferred choice for trauma and emergency services nationwide. After my inception as the CIO, I requested our employees and executives to join in an internal dialogue about important issues facing our organization. I’ve been buoyed by the thought and discussion we’ve heard and read over the past few weeks. Even though we are performing well, there are few areas of concern which I think needs to be addressed in order for our organization to perform better. During my inquiry, I found that STARS needed to review its business and IS infrastructure. Information Systems (IS) never played a major role in any of STARS major operations and strategic planning, which has led to many organizational and operational issues. We need to understand that technology plays an important role in our day to day activities. We employ and leverage the use of information systems to communicate across the organization and also with our external partners. Although we are unable to make optimal use of the IS unit, we need to value the little innovation that...

Nt1310 Unit 13.2 Pointer

...13.1 Introduction The memory location where data is stored is called address. Normally the data or variables are accessed through names that represent them. For example, marks, age etc. Similar to data, code is also stored in some memory location and the same can be accessed through names that represent them for example, getch(), clrscr() etc. C++ allows data and code to be accessed through its address, rather than official name. This is done using pointers. Pointers are special variables that are used to store the address of data or code. It is one of the most exciting features of C++ and also needs great care while using this feature. The concept is called pointers. 13.2 Pointer Pointer is a variable used to store the base address of another variable, reference or just a memory block without reference. Pointer is a derived data type. So the data type of a pointer can be any of the built in or user-defined data types. When we create a simple object or variable, memory block is allocated to it depending upon its data type. Just like any variable, pointer itself is also allocated memory. Memory allocated to pointer of all data types is same, i.e. it can be 2 bytes or 4 bytes depending upon the compiler and the operating system. 13.2.1 Advantages of pointers  A data structure called linked list can only be created using a pointer.  Pointers help to allocate memory at run time.  Pointers help in reducing the size of data exchanges between functions.  Function can return...

Art of Seeing

...The Art of Seeing Essay Nick Cave Soundsuit Mixed Media Page 184 Soundsuit, created by Nick Cave in 2009 resembles a cloud of ceramic birds that surrounds a body suit of crocheted yarn pieces. The structure that resides on the crocheted body suit resembles the flight pattern of the birds, some delicate lines with beads and others strong, steel like structure protruding upwards, almost looking like tree branches or roots of a tree if looked at upside down. The body suit has various colors although keeping a palate of reds, oranges, pinks, black and white. The patterns resemble flowers of various types and sizes breaking the monotony of matching patterns. The various materials used in Soundsuit work together to create an egg-shaped sphere around the crocheted body suit giving the viewer a feel of surrounding; noise of movement. The strong predominant vertical metal branches that hold the ceramic birds symbolize branches, especially since the artist selected ceramic birds that are perched. Not one bird is alike, some with extended wings and others seeming to take flight; the sound of flapping wings is almost audible. The crocheted body suit has a feeling of randomness, different flowers and symbols in different places in non-geometrical lines. The suite covers all body parts except the head and hands as if the suit would give a person a different identity. It almost feels as if this body suit is closely related to nature. Soundsuit is uniform in the sense that it contains...
