The purchase and widespread use of energy drinks have brought about the production of various types and kinds of energy drinks, which has led to a lot of questions regarding the effect of energy drinks and the safety of those who consume them. These questions have resulted to the emergence of research in this area and a call for more study. The emergence of varied kinds of energy drinks is because of monetary profit that can be attained from this act. With the increase of so many energy drinks, the ingredients used in production cannot be accounted for. Research by Seifert, Schaechter, Hershorin & Lipshultz (2011), found that there have been few studies regarding the effects of individual ingredients used in manufacturing energy drinks and contradictory and inconclusive reports have been recorded during experimental …show more content…
Sports drinks are typically a mixture of carbohydrates and electrolytes formulated to enhance athletic performance and prevent dehydration, and, unlike energy drinks, they do not contain caffeine. Conversely, energy drinks contain caffeine which is a stimulant and therefore they are not considered suitable to re-establish normal body function after exercise (e.g. normal heart rate). (p.4)
According to Reissig, Stran & Griffiths (2008), there is a record of rapid increase and known facts that energy drinks have been mixed with alcohol. This act can be found among college students and young adults. Mixing energy drinks with alcohol does not necessarily guarantee alcohol intoxication but thus, increases the chances of alcohol related injury, such as sexual abuse, harassment, intimidation, injury or accident. Ibrahim & Iftikhar (2014), Supports that the combination of energy drinks and alcohol has been always led to cause unhealthy drinking behaviors.
According to Sherry, and Gonzalez de Mejia (2010), the population that is greatly affected are the teenagers and young adults 18-34 years old and this can be attached to the lifestyle and their receptiveness to advertisements. Notwithstanding, it can be said that even though the highest affected populations are the adolescents and young adults, other age groups contribute to the overall percentage of those who consume energy

Keeping Chocolate Milk At Nickels

...Chocolate milk. Imagine a world without creamy, tasty, chocolatey, nutrients filled chocolate milk. What would we drink? We would be drinking sports drinks and pop all the time. They have a lot more carbohydrates than chocolate milk. That’s bad for us. We should keep chocolate milk at Nickels because it is tasty and it has lots of nutrients. Let´s get started. To begin with, we should keep chocolate milk at Nickels because it is very nutritious (healthy). One example that it is nutritious is that according to Nutrition in Disguise by Mannie Tarenworth it has vitamin A, D, protein, and calcium. This make me think that people underestimate chocolate milk. Another reason it is nutritious is that it has the same 9 nutrients as white milk. If people think chocolate milk is unhealthy, they are wrong. A mom in Seattle, WA says that “I think it’s fine as long as it’s combined with a nice diet”. This all shows that chocolate milk is very healthy and it should stay in the Nickels cafeteria....

...things to maintain a balanced equilibrium, homeostasis. Within this unit, we covered cell parts, cell transport, effect of energy drinks on cells, how the excretory system uses cell transport, and positive and negative feedback to keep the body at homeostasis. These concepts are covered in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) High School Life Science (HS-LS) 1-1 A: Systems of specialized cells within organisms help them perform the essential functions of life and multicellular organisms have a hierarchal structural organization, in which any one system is made up of numerous parts and is itself a component of the next level. This is also covered in HS-LS 1-3.A: Feedback mechanisms maintain a living system’s internal conditions within certain limits and mediate behaviors, allowing it to remain alive and function even as externa conditions change within some range. Feedback mechanisms can encourage (through positive feedback) or discourage (negative feedback) what is on inside the living system. There are several learning targets for students in this unit: 1-identify and describe the functions of each organelle, 2-identify and describe the functions of the cell membrane, 3- describe how substances move across the cell membrane, 4: explain how the kidney uses cell transport 5- to plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence of how energy drinks affect the fluid balance within cells, and 6- to describe positive and negative feedback mechanisms for maintaining homeostasis...

It can boost our energy and can offer nutrition that our body needs to function, it can also give us a less chance of disease. Babies grow more quickly during the first year of life than at any other time. During the first year of life, babies learn to eat food that will keep them healthy in the future. Babies also develop eating skills, such as using utensils and cups. For babies you should not give them any other drink apart from breast milk and liquid formula. Regular cow's milk, goat's milk, and evaporated milk do not have as much iron as your baby needs. They are also harder for them to digest. Why Be Moral

...Carlotta Island Phil 305 Ryan Taylor Why Be Moral? Ethics is a division of philosophy that deals with human behaviors. There are many different theories that have existed throughout history. An ethical theory must consider and take into account what makes the “right” decisions different from the “wrong” decision. A lot of different people and organization of the history of the world have defined ethical behavior, but still some actions are argued as to whether or not they are ethical or even moral. Plato’s view of ethics was that it had to do with the arrangement of the human soul. Plato contended that justice is the quality of soul, in virtue of which men set aside the irrational desire to taste every pleasure and to get a selfish satisfaction out of every object and accommodated them to the discharge of a single function for the general benefit. Thrasymachus, on the other hand believed that justice was not based on any moral premise but is defined by those in power or by the authority of the state. Religions such as Christianity have come up with theories about ethics also. Christians have theorized, “Human souls desire the good, found only in God.” This good is supposed to be “unchanging, permanent, and always satisfying. The goods of this world, such as food, drink or wealth, are only partially satisfying, since these are always changing and human physiology always demands them. God, however, as the final end of all things, is the end of human souls as well. The soul...

Nurturing Love – Five Principal Ways

...and desires - so there is no attention to give to those around us, who probably have needs and desires very much like our own. People are not boring; we get bored because our attention wanders. Giving someone our full attention says clearly: “You matter to me. You have my respect.” Almost every disruption in human relationships - between parents and child, friend and friend, worker and co-worker - can be prevented by learning control over attention, for, with mutual attention between people comes loyalty, interest and trust. To love we have to be able to do things for others, even if it is inconvenient, or when we have no energy. For example, when we know we should help one of our classmates with his homework but have only enough energy to drop into a beanbag chair with a soft drink in hand, how can we be of service. Our minds are  great repositories of energy – when healthily used - but we go through life trying to punch as many as holes in it as possible,...

...fitness of their athletes. A company such as McDonalds does not offer the healthiest choices which are why it does not get the approval by many people to be a leading sponsor for the games. The majority of their foods are filled with fat or they are extremely greasy. For a company such as Coca-Cola, they offer products that are very high in sugar. When many think of the Olympics they relate the games to drinks that are hydrating and replenishing to the body. The main carbonating products developed by Coca-cola are not a fit with the results that athletes need from their drinking products. The main question that arises is, should Olympic athletes cut ties with these sponsors? Also should Olympic athletes take sponsorship money from these companies? There are some athletes that are taking sponsorship money from McDonalds. Patrick Chan who is a figure skater is one. He stated that his favorite item is the double quarter pounder. This sandwich has over 650 calories and 37 grams of fat. There is no possible way that when Chan is training for his figure skating events he is eating double quarter pounders on a regular basis. This is not the type of food product that supplies the necessary amount of energy to the body that is needed to perform at a high level. Drew Doughty who is a hockey player is another. ...BeachBody.com’s straight forward guide to eating so you lose fat and improve your health forever – 100% GUARANTEED! Step-By-Step DIET GUIDE 6 STEPS LET’S BEGIN... The actual goal of most fitness and slimming programs is to increase the ratio of lean muscle to stored fat. That means trimming a lot of fat and toning/building muscle. It does not mean “losing weight.” We’ve heard ads that promise 10 pounds of “weight loss” in a weekend. And the only way that is possible is by losing water weight. Maybe you’ll lose a pound or two of fat by starving your body along the way. But the rest is water weight. And of course, as you re-hydrate, your weight will go right back up — but because you starved your body, your metabolism was reset! So the next time you eat food, your body will be ready to store any leftover calories as fat. And soon you’ve got more fat stored than when you started. Not good. to transform your body. 1 CONTROL your portions. Don’t eat until you are full, eat until you’re not hungry. 1 CONTROL your portions.
