1. Do you think meditation leads to heightened sensation and perception? Explain why or why not.

After trying two similar techniques of meditation I would have to say that it does heighten a person’s sensation and perception. Meditation brings a calming element which allows any mind to relax and think more deeply. With the two meditation techniques I was still very aware of my surroundings, but I was not allowing for my surroundings to affect my state of relaxation. I think meditation brings a stronger sense of awareness to the mind that may not have been present before.

2. Have you considered integrating meditation into your own lifestyle? If so, list one strategy for fitting meditation into your schedule. If not, explain why.

After practicing both techniques for the past few days I would integrate meditation into my lifestyle. Right now I have a lot more free time since I am not currently employed full-time. During the day I notice how often I tense up or stress out because of the weddings and other events I am planning. Incorporating meditation into my daily life will be fairly easy, I can schedule some time after I am done with my school work. I am also free most evenings and that seems to be the most peaceful time of day for me. If I do not have any time during the day I can meditate before bed. Since meditating brought a wonderful calming effect about an hour before I go to sleep I can meditate and relax my body before I go to sleep. For the past few weeks I have had trouble sleeping, so this may be a technique I can try to make sleeping through the night much easier.
