...Introduction Description of a prison The walls closed in. I could not escape the endless, darkened wait to freedom. Sat in the corner of the chilled room, I can see the sharp corners at each edge of the room. The walls, painted red many years ago, connecting each corner forming a perfectly shaped square room. The dull paint on each of the four walls carries a burden memories where psychotic men drawing closer and closer to their death had been scratching at the walls. Looking up from the corner of the cell, my light flickers as many moths flutter around it finding the only hope and light that is left in the prison. ...read more. Middle Each man would shiver in the darkness of their cell knowing that this evil man would lead them to their death when the time would come in the near future. Every hour of every day, on perfect timing, the shadows of the evil guard would seep the rusty bars of each cell in the zoo of madness. Every twelve hours of every day the bell of the old clock tower would ring twelve times driving average men closer to madness. Every twelve hours of every day the bell ringing would drive those men closer to wanting to add the speckles of blood on their cold stone floor. Looking around when darkness falls in the real world, a small crack in the wall shows life outside in freedom. ...read more. Conclusion All the prisoners know it is time for another to walk the mile. And soon after the unlucky prisoner leaving the smell of burning flesh fills the halls and...

...and socialists protested in the streets of Lower Manhattan’s “Corner” in a rage at the banking systems. Before the turn of the century, the feelings projected toward the financial barons of New York were all but tranquil. Because the majority of the wealth among a few happened at the expense of laborers and echoed with Americans, its result lead to terrorism (King 2011). On September 16, 1920, an explosion tore through the streets of Lower Manhattan’s “Corner”. The Wall Street Bombing of 1920 was the deadliest terror attack on American soil until the Oklahoma bombing 75 years later. The blast killed 38 people and injured hundreds of others (Andrews, 2015). Although the case remains unsolved to this day, there were many suspects. Investigators believe their strongest lead was the Italian anarchists of the time. On Thursday September 16, 1920, an unknown driver pulled a horse drawn wagon filled with one hundred pounds of dynamite and sash weights up to the corner of Wall and Broad Streets in Lower Manhattan, an area often called “The Corner”. “The Corner” was described by author John Brooks as “the precise center, geographical as well as metaphorical, of financial America and even of the financial world.” The building on “The Corner”, housed the most powerful financial institution in the world, J.P. Morgan Co., as well as professionals like J.P. Morgan Jr. and Thomas Lamont (Gross, 2001). To the north of “The Corner” was the U.S. Assay office, where the purity of precious metals...

...Are seatbelts necessary “We have all heard the excuses before, it’s uncomfortable, I'm only going around the corner, I'd rather be thrown out of a car than be stuck in a seatbelt and my favorite, and I’m a good driver I don't need to wear one.” These are just a few quotes I am sure we have all heard when it comes to buckling up. Guess what accidents happen! Seatbelts are designed to help protect you in case of an accident. Some people argue that seatbelt laws infringe upon a person’s civil liberties and since in some instances seatbelts may cause injury or death, that the government has no right to force a person to do something that may be endangering ones safety. Benjamin Franklin once said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety”. Firstly, seat belt use should not be mandatory because seatbelt campaigns spend millions of taxpayer dollars that could go toward funds for causes such as schools and charities. We pay taxes, right. In addition, our taxes are supposed to go to the government to be spent on causes that help the population, right. Well, would you want your hard-earned money spent on enforcing an unjust law? Dr. Walter Williams states, in an article published September 10, 2003, “Under the Transportation Equity act for the 21st Century, the federal government is spending $500 million to enforce seatbelt laws.” Do you want your taxes to be spent on enforcing a seat belt law? Think of all the...

...movie it mentions 2023 as the sixth annual purge in the USA. This establishes 2018 as the first purge. The concept of The Purge is almost ingenious if you do not ponder the consequences for too long. All crime is legal for 12 consecutive hours starting at 7:00 pm and ending at 7:00 am. This sequel follows a few different stories that eventually intersect, but everything in the film revolves around a man named Leo Barnes. Leo is looking for retribution for his son’s death and expects to get his much needed vengeance this very night. Eva Sanchez struggles to make ends meet working at a diner and attempting to pay for her father’s medicine. She hopes to barricade herself in her apartment in the middle of the projects to survive for not only her father, but also her daughter Cali. Shane and Liz are a couple on the verge of desperation attempting to make it somewhere safe for the night yet find themselves in an unreliable car at the worst possible time. All crime is legal during the annual Purge; that means not just murder. “The Purge: Anarchy” makes it seem like hanging out around banks is a safe haven during...

...Cell-16 James spent hours lying on the bed, trying not to fall asleep. He looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table. It was already 1:47am. Five more hours, James calculated. Five more hours till its morning, and he could finally be safe. He could finally sleep. Everything would be fine in the morning…right? It all started three weeks ago, when James and his friend Gregg went ghost hunting to the Old Melbourne Gaol. They’d heard lots of ghost stories about that place. That was the place where hundreds of people were mercilessly hanged. James and Gregg were sure that they could actually witness something paranormal in a place like that. They even bought all of the ghost hunting equipment that they could manage to pay for, after working multiple part time jobs. Of course, they hadn’t expected the consequences of their ‘little adventure’ to be this dreadful. James rolled over and took a look at the alarm clock once again. It was 2:16 am now. 2:16… 16… He recalled the last cell that he and Gregg had investigated that day…Cell number 16… Both James and Gregg had got an eerie feeling when they’d entered that cell. James quickly readied his EVP recorder, while Gregg filmed the cell. Nothing happened at first. But after spending about half an hour in that cell, strange things started happening. All of a sudden, the flashlight that James was holding started flickering violently. The flashlight then turned off, leaving them both in darkness. This startled and alarmed the both...

...‘’You cannot hide from me, detective’’ the priest said. The stranger shifted to another angle and watched him. He took off his shoes and threw them towards a corner. The priest followed the noise. Now he could walk silent and take him unawares. ‘’Let me save you, detective’’ he said. The stranger creeped up behind him. As he was ready to strike, the murderer turned around and held the sword at his throat. Blood trickled down his shirt, a small cut, but any deeper and he would die. ‘’I got you, detective. Embrace your death’’ the priest said. Then the strange pulled the trigger and the bullet hit him in the chest. The stranger jumped back as the priest released the sword. Everett closed his hands over the wound and whispered a small prayer, impossible to grasp the words. Then he fell down face first into the stone floor and it was over. His wound started to hurt, and he needed to patch himself up. The stranger grabbed the sword and held it close. His chest bled through his shirt and coat, and the pain was unbearable. The steps up was a pain, each step made him grunt. The door was...

...Composition 1 Between Life and Death The first time I went hunting, I quickly learned that being aware of your surroundings is very important to having a safe hunt. There are many dangers that you must know how to deal with while hunting for wild animals. Hunting requires extreme caution. Many people think they know everything there is to know about the dangers of hunting, some even do it after consuming alcohol, but what many people do not really understand is how to get out of these dangerous situations. I had to solve a dangerous problem that I did not think would ever happen, to save my best friend. Dustin and I were invited to go hunting with his Dad and some of his Dad’s friends. I had just gotten a shotgun for my birthday, and I wanted to finally put it to some use. We set out to his Dad’s friend’s lease just outside a small town near San Angelo. I was excited to learn how to shoot a gun and, hopefully, be able to hunt my first dove. After hours of driving, we finally arrived at the lease. It was like something I had never seen. There were retired school busses pushed side-by-side in a square, turned into something like cabins. The owner of the lease had built bunk beds up and down both sides of the four school busses. We unpacked our things onto the busses, and Dustin’s dad took out his handgun. He showed Dustin and I how to handle it, unload it and shoot it. We shot the handgun at targets for a while, and then we began to practice shooting our shotguns...

Most commonly found in the dark corners of Tumblr, a Feminazi will spend a big portion of her time spewing radical propaganda such as all men are pigs, bras are oppressive and any song that mentions a women is supporting rape. A Feminazi does not only believe in female supremacy, but to accomplish that goal through male genocide. The classic Feminazi starts her day around 10:00 Pm, she’ll log on to her Tumblr, most likely with a username similar to something like “misandry_mermaid2012” and a password in memorial of her pet cat who died four years ago. ...099 April 24, 2011 The Death Penalty Should Be Mandatory For People That Kill Other People The death penalty is the punishment to a person that does a capital crime or capital offence. This is a topic that has been discussed among many societies across the country. The judicial system uses the death penalty to dissuade people from horrible crimes. The death penalty should be mandatory for people that kill people because it gives a person to revenges his or her death legally and it makes society feels safe. This is why the death penalty should be mandatory for people who kill other people. People go through a time in their life when they have a loved one murdered in a violent crime. It is not fair for a person to have a friend or family member killed by another person and they get away with it. This is why people who kill other people should get the death penalty. Even though death penalty trials are long, it will give the person some closure in their life knowing that the killer of their loved one is also dead and will never hurt anyone ever again. This is just a way for people to get revenge on another person who killed their loved one legally. Having the death penalty mandatory for people who kill other people makes others in societies feel safe. People would die to a day to day basis if the death penalty wasn’t mandatory for those who kill other people. Any giving day a person can get murdered for whatever reason. With the death penalty in effect, it slows...

...Who is responsible for the death of Doodle? In “The Scarlet Ibis” Doodle was not “all there”. Everyone thought he would die at birth. In James Hurst’s short story, the narrator is responsible for Doodle’s death. The following are the evidence: he over worked him, treated him badly, and left him in the storm. The doctor did not want Doodle to strain himself or he would die. The narrator is responsible for Doodle's death because he made Doodle over work himself. He made Doodle learn how to walk so he would not embarrass him. He let him do most of the things the doctor said not to do. He let him get excited and let him tired. He also let Doodle get hot. The narrative threatened him. The narrator threatened...

... Treblinka World War II was perhaps one of the most serious wars in the world’s history. During this time, over 6 million Jewish prisoners were killed in concentration camps. In more severe cases, death camps. Death Camps were specifically made to kill off the Jewish population. Right next to Auschwitz, Treblinka had the highest number of killings. Although it is not as well-known as other concentration camps, it is most definitely just as serious. In November 1942, after the establishment of the first camp, Treblinka I, the Operation Reinhard authorities established a killing center known as Treblinka II that is located around a mile away from the first camp. The construction began April 1942. It was near Polish village of Wolka Okraglik along the Malkinia-Siedlce railway line. The labor camp, death camp, and Malkinia station were all connected by a rail spur that the Germans built. The camp was hidden by woods so that it wasn’t seen. Treblinka was constructed in the shape of a trapezoid, 400 meters by 600 meters (Chris Webb, online).Watch towers as high as 8 meters were placed on the four corners. Barbed-wire surrounded the place with branches woven into it. Also, trees were planted around the perimeter. Both of these things served as a camouflage to keep it hidden. The layout of the camp was split up into 3 sections. One of these was the living area. This is where the Germans and staffs living quarters were. Another...

...e took much too long to turn back around. It was the first hint of weakness Paret had ever shown, and it must have inspired a particular shame, because he fought the rest of the fight as if he were seeking to demonstrate that he could take more punishment than any man alive. In the twelfth, Griffith caught him. Paret got trapped in a corner. Trying to duck away, his left arm and his head became tangled on the wrong side of the top rope. Griffith was in like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. He hit him eighteen right hands in a row, an act which took perhaps three or four seconds, Griffith making a pent-up whimpering sound all the while he attacked, the right hand whipping like a piston rod which has broken through the crankcase, or like a baseball bat demolishing a pumpkin. I was sitting in the second row of that corner—they were not ten feet away from me, and like everybody else, I was hypnotized. I had never seen one man hit another so hard and so many times. Over the referee’s face came a look of woe as if some spasm had passed its way through him, and then he leaped on Griffith to pull him away. It was the act of a brave man. Griffith was uncontrollable. His trainer leaped into the ring, his manager, his cut man, there were four people holding Griffith, but he was off on an orgy, he had left the Garden, he was back on a hoodlum’s street. If he had been able to break loose from his handlers and the referee, he would have jumped Paret to the floor and whaled...

...that war is very gruesome and negative. At a first glance the viewer is drawn to the center of the painting, as their eyes move around, they begin to decipher the painting and the heaviness of the painting is felt. The grim war zone overwhelms the viewer and displays an aftermath of evil. Otto Dix effects the reader with confusion through a variety of chaos inducing techniques, and ultimately shares his opinions on war. The narrative begins with an image that displays pre-war activities. The battle has not begun yet and the soldiers do not know what to expect. The first panel displays what looks like a group of soldiers hiking off to war. In the left portion of the painting there are soldiers rising out of the fog, the viewer can only see every thing above the soldiers’ shoulders’. They sky is filled with various types of clouds, and red, almost orange tints. In the corner, there is a small piece of dark sky filled with stars. The soldiers are ready for battle with their backpacks and rifles strapped on. The ground is covering in a light fog that overpowers everything around it. The trail ahead is unclear, and it is unknown what is in the distance. In the bottom left corner there is a detached wheel to a wagon, which is nearly impossible to decipher due to the fog.
