...Andy Luker MW 12:00-1:15 Organizational Behavior Final 1. Combine John Kotter’s 8 steps of organizational change with Kurt Lewin’s 3 steps of organizational change. Give the name of one of John Kotter’s books that lists and describes his 8 steps. John Kotter’s 8 steps can be broken down and put under Lewin’s three steps. I would put steps one through four under Lewin’s unfreezing step. Kotter breaks this down further than just unfreezing. He starts with creating a sense of emergency and forming a team to look at change. If there is no sense of emergency, there is no sense of need to change. Forming a coalition allows more than one person to set new vision. Steps three and four are important in unfreezing because it sets the organization ready to move. By creating a new vision and casting the new vision you can have people get onboard with where you are about to take them. You cannot just move someone without them getting on board. As Kotter describes this in his book “Our Iceberg is Melting” you have to communicate this vision by keeping it simple and through repetition. Next, steps five through seven can be placed under Lewin’s step of Movement. This is where you take the organization and implement the change. First you empower those in the organization. This may be accomplished by giving jobs to people and set responsibilities that allow them to be part of the change, and not just being forced to change. Next, you create short-term goals. This helps the group by letting...

Every one of us has a different combination of traits that make each and every one of us unique in his or her way. There are two different kind of traits; physical and behavior traits. Physical traits make up one physical look such as hair color, eye, color, height, weight, and etc. While behaviors traits are characteristics in which a person acts. An example of this is a mother’s instinct to protect her children and keep them safe. The trait theory of leadership suggests that there are no set combinations or specific traits that make a good leader. Instead leadership traits are those traits that do not change from situation from situation, such as intelligence, assertiveness, or physical attraction...

...environment plays a huge role in human behavior from larger things like whether the country that a person lives in is at war to smaller things like the type of weather that is typical for that specific area. You may have heard of the term nature vs. nurture before. This is a term that psychologists use to describe different reasons for why people behave in the ways that they do. Nature refers to people’s DNA. This is their inherent genetic makeup that plays a role in not only their behavior but also in their outward appearance. Nurture describes the environment that people live in including each person’s own experiences within their family but also their experiences in the larger world and within their community. Human beings are programmed response in every sense of the word. We learn everything that we are from others. We are not born with knowledge or personality; we acquire those from society-at-large. As an example; if, at the moment you were born, you were exchanged with a baby being born in Ethiopia, and your skin, hair, and eyes were altered to that of other Ethiopians, you would grow up and be an entirely different person. Your taste in food, music, dress, and all your aspects of culture would be entirely different from who you are today. If the two of you were to meet as adults, neither would recognize similar behavioral attributes in the other. Each of you would have entirely different personalities. Genetically, you may have the same physical attributes/propensities...

...Fowlkes Dr. Magadalena Cutler October 24, 2011 Introduction Consumer Behavior is how consumers allocate their money incomes among goods and services. Each consumer has preferences for certain of the goods and services that are available in the market. Buyers also have a good idea of how much marginal utility they will get from successive units of the various products they might purchase. However, the amount of marginal & total utility that the people will get will be different for every individual in the group because all individuals have different taste and preferences. According to Maurice & Thomas (2011) “marginal utility is an additional or incremental utility. Marginal utility is defined as the change in the total utility that results from unit one unit change in consumption of the commodity within a given period of time”(p. 169). There is an assumption that consumers engage in rational behavior. Therefore one can define a consumer as a rational person, who tries to use his or her money income to derive the greatest amount of satisfaction, or utility, from it. Consumers want to get the most for their money or, to maximize their total utility. Rational behavior also requires that a consumer not spend too much money irrationally by buying tons of items and stock piling them for the future, or starve themselves by buying no food at all. Substitution and Income The income effect describes how consumers react to an increase in purchasing power. For example, if...

...Bullying….Change Karly Turner SOC 312 Child, Family, & Society Instructor: Yvette Morelon July 5, 2015 Bullying takes place everywhere. There is not one specific place where you will see it. It is seen in schools, work places, and public places. When you have someone that is making an effort to make a change, it is a cry for help. This person has come to realize that what they are doing is something that is not right. When this person knows that they need help everything needs to be done to make sure that this person gets all the help that they need to make them better. Someone who is a bully can change, it has to be up to them, to be able to make themselves better. There are a lot of times that it may be difficult to figure out who or what the bullying is. “During elementary school years, children depend on each other companionship, advice and self-validation, (Bojczyk, Shiner, & Shiner, 2012). Having an activity that will show the students how to prevent bullying and how not to become a bully is a great activity. As children mature into adults, they will often reflect back upon their lives and see what could have changed. It is often helpful to receive advice from others.
