America lost 260,000 people in the Civil War. The food on the Civil War was given for

both Union and Confederate soldiers and it was provided by their respective Commissary De-

partments, but the daily rations were given to the soldiers uncooked. Generals and other officers

had the comfort of a cook, but the majority of the soldiers were collected in groups to prepare

their food. The food during the Civil War wasn't high quality and it didn't taste good. according

Confederate soldiers usually didn’t receive much food at all, their food was typically

very simple, especially as the war moved on, the …show more content…
They would also give the soldiers, rice, potatoes, onions

and molasses. Salt meat and cornmeal were preferred because they both would ship easily and

they were easy to carry on a march or into the battles. They handed the soldiers rations of food

every three days; before marches and battles. The soldiers cooked their raw food so they could

care it with them.

Corn was available only when were doing well on a particular side. As well as beans, and

they couldn't be consumed uncooked; or it would cause very bad stomach situations. There were

plenty of foods that couldn't be eaten as a snack in times of trouble. Fruits were very important to

have as a supply; and lack of fruits would cause the soldiers diseases and sickness. Scurvy was

this decease caused by lack of vitamin C (oranges) and it would cause, tooth loss, receding gums,

night blindness, rotting lips, jaws, and cheeks. Fruit was the favorite treat for ill soldiers; press

dent Abraham Lincoln usually brought the soldiers fresh fruits at the Washington Army hospital.

A developing country is a poor country faced by many problems like Civil War, drought, famine and lots of diseases including Cholera and Typhoid. One of the problems is civil war. Civil war is a war between two areas of a country fighting for leadership. During a civil war many people are wounded or die. Children as young as 5 years old are made to fight in the war and some children are separated from their families. The government spend their money on weapons to help the country to fight. The money to pay for the weapons has to be borrowed from richer countries. The Civil War resulted from divisions within the nationalist movement as a result of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Sinn Fein split into pro and anti-Treaty factions. The Civil War ended in May 1923 and while there was no surrender by the anti-Treaty forces, the pro-Treaty side were clearly victorious in the war.
