Subject: Progress Report on Purchasing a Graphics Processing Unit for Fantasy Land Inc.
Purpose
This is a progress report on my research for a new Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) for Fantasy Land Inc.
Summary
I have been researching makes and models of Graphic Processing Units (GPUs) for Fantasy Land Inc. I have identified three models which meet the needs of Fantasy Land Inc. In this proposal I will go over the work that has been completed to date, the work that is yet to be completed and the updated schedule. I also have established criteria for the Graphic Processing Units that I will use to evaluate the Graphic Processing Units.
My study is currently on schedule and within the original budget. I expect to submit a recommendation report by November 17th.
Introduction
On October 24th, I received approval of my proposal to research and evaluate options for the purchasing of a new GPU. GPU stands for Graphics Processing Unit, which preforms the display output. Fantasy Land Inc. needs a new GPU due to lack of processing power. The results of my research will be presented in a recommendation report on November 17th.
The lack of processing power in Fantasy Land Inc. has resulted in lower quality of life, chronic headaches due to peasant level frames per second, and increased time for completing basic tasks.
Completed Work
I will carry out the following tasks in order to ensure that Fantasy Land Inc. is choosing the best option while purchasing a new GPU.
Task 1: Identify six potential Graphics Processing Units.
I completed research for six different brands of GPUs to determine which is best suited for Fantasy Land Inc.
Task 2: Establish Graphics Processing Units criteria by determining our needs.
I know that any GPU we purchase will need to be no more than $600. Criteria for determining the needs of the GPU are as follows.
High Polygon count: The GPU needs to be able to handle mass amounts of polygon textures.
Sleek design: The GPU needs to also match the rest of the computer.
Low power consumption: Low power consumption is recommended to lower overall operation cost.
High G3D mark: A high G3D mark will show the processing power of the GPU under maximum load.
Future Work
Task 3: Evaluate the GPUs according to the criteria.
I will evaluate the GPUs based on our aforementioned criteria. To complete the tasks they will need this much power. To process the data they will need this much power. To meet the criteria they will need this much power. I will research websites such as GPUboss.com for benchmarking, Newegg.com customer reviews, and pcpartpicker.com for price comparisons.
Task 4: Prepare a recommendation report.
I will prepare a final report detailing the proposal, my methods, and my findings. I will explain the companies need for a new GPU, my method in determining which brand best suits the companies criteria in purchasing the hardware as well as how I established the criteria, and finally, I will detail my conclusions. I will submit my report by October 27, 2014.
Updated Schedule Tasks | Date of Tasks | Task 1: Identify six potential GPUs. | Completed | Task 2: Establish GPU criteria by determining our needs. | Completed | Task 3: Evaluate GPU according to the criteria. | In Progress | Task 4: Prepare a recommendation report. | November 17, 2014 |

Conclusion
I have completed Tasks 1 and 2, and I am in the process of completing Task 3. I am on schedule and will have the remaining tasks completed by November 17th, 2014. My final recommendation report will identify the model I feel best meets the established criteria.
Please contact me at 555-867-5309 if there are any further questions or comments.

...fairy tale place. Director Victor Fleming's classic film, The Wizard of Oz (1939), gave the audience an 'identity', touching on social attitude and the way people play a powerful role in their own lives through escapism and symbolism throughout the film. In 1939, MGM director Victor Fleming, in collaboration with Harold Rosson as cinematographer, released the classic blockbuster fantasy film The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland as young and innocent Dorothy Gale, a young girl from Kansas who is swept away during a tornado along with her dog Toto. During her adventure in the land of Oz she kills The Wicked Witch of the West played by Margaret Hamilton, and embarks on a journey to find the almighty and powerful Wizard played by Frank Morgan in order to find her way home. Along the way she makes new friends, Scarecrow played by Ray Bolger, Tin Man played by Jack Haley, and the Cowardly lion played by Bert Lahr. Each actor portrayed in the film offers their own unique sense and the overall effect of the film clearly shows the actors ability to take on different characters. Mythology in Literature: the Sword of Shanarra

...Mythology is the study of myth, but how does the study of ancient myth guide today’s modern myth? Mythology has been brought to life through art, film, and theatre, but those are just a few ways myths have been transformed through time. In some cultures myths are still passed down through oral tradition, with an expectation from the listeners to be wowed and awed at the telling. This essay we will look at Terry Brooks’ The Sword of Shannara. Brooks’ work is done in the literary art form, but how does his work relate to our world view of myth? What is used in his work as mythic symbolism? Is it modern myth or old myth presented in a new light? These questions will be addressed in this essay. In the Sword of Shannara, Brooks takes the reader into world that resembles ours today, but is indeed very different. Brooks weaves a tale that could be seen as a past long forgotten or a look into the future, where mythological creatures are no longer myth, but living breathing beings that coexist in the human world. The myth in his work is not the characters he has created, but the legend and tale of an ancient sword, which symbolizes the truth that not all beings can accept about themselves. Brooks’ tale parallels the everyday life and thoughts that exist in the world today, but outside of the normal bounds that one would be used to. Common across myth throughout time and seen here again in Brooks’ work. Brooks introduces the young man who is on a quest, but with a twist...

The Concepts of Literature in Western and Islamic Tradition

...AND ISLAMIC TRADITION By NUR 'ABIDAH ABD SAMAD Literature can be defined as a man’s creation using fictional quality, described with language, in order to serve certain purposes. Literature entails a vast array of forms including prose, novel, drama and poetry. This discussion covers the concepts of literature in the Western and Islamic tradition. To further explore the above dichotomy, this paper identifies the unifying function of both literatures as enhancing knowledge of self. Besides, this essay also clarifies the function of literature as a didactic instrument of teaching from both different traditions. In addition, by comparing these two traditions, there is a clear explication of the elements of fantasy and reality infused in both literary traditions. Lastly, this essay concludes with the value-judgment of evaluating good or bad literature. Muhammad Qutb defines ‘Islamic literature’ as literature written by people belonging to Muslim writers as well as works by non-Muslim writers who deal with Islamic values in their views (M. Badawi, 1993, p. 50). Islamic conception of literature is significantly derived from the very first word of the Qur’anic revelation iqra’, an instruction to read, followed by the word ‘al-Qalam’ which carries the meaning that reads: “it was God who taught man with pen” (96: 4), which indicates the ultimate role of reading and knowledge to Muslim individuals. The Qur’an itself is Islam’s...

The Detailed Search on Disney Land

...INTRODUCTION OF COMPANY Disney land is an American theme park in California owned and operated by the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division of The Walt Disney Company. It opened on July 17, 1955 in ceremonies led by Walt Disney. The company was initially a jointly owned venture by Walt Disney Productions, Western Publishing, Walt Disney and the American Broadcasting Company to manage and built the Disneyland theme park. As a provision for the joint ownership, Walt Disney Productions had the option to repurchase the share within 7 years. In 1960, Walt Disney Productions completed the repurchase of all the share of the company and the theme park became a fully owned part of Walt Disney Productions. Currently the park has been visited by more than 515 million guests since it opened, including presidents, royalty and other heads of state. In 1998, the theme park was re-branded Disneyland Park to distinguish it from the larger Disneyland Resort complex. It’s a great Theme Park for all families. They can meet all their favorite characters there including all the princesses, villains, dwarfs, Mickey Mouse, other Disney characters and can enjoy lots of rides. How Disneyland differentiated from other places was that it had 'Walt Disney', the brain that totally changed the lives of people by adding magic to their lives. Walt Disney summarized his creativity in one word: Imagineering. The term “Imagineering” combines the words imagination and engineering. Imagineering enabled him...

The viewer may take from the art, knowledge or feelings of life back then. As time went by people and lifestyles changed as well did art and expression. Art Appreciation Encyclopedia Britannica (Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., 2012) describes art as “a visual object or experience consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination. The term art encompasses diverse media such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, decorative arts, photography, and installation”. UBC (Belton, 2008) explains art as “•the product of conscious intention, •a self-rewarding activity, •a tendency to unite dissimilar things, •a concern with change and variety, •the aesthetic exploitation of familiarity vs. surprise, •the aesthetic exploitation of tension vs. release, •the imposition of order on disorder, •the creation of illusions, •an indulgence in sensuousness, •the exhibition of skill, •a desire to convey meanings, •an indulgence in fantasy, •the aggrandizement of self or others, •illustration, •the heightening of existence, •revelation, •personal adornment or embellishment, •therapy, •the giving of meaning to life, •the generation of unselfconscious experience, •the provision of paradigms of order and/or disorder, •training in the perception of reality,” No matter how you explain art...

Effects of Fandom

...Effect of Fandom on Marketers In the “old days” an areas culture had a massive effect on the way that the people of that area lived their lives. What they wore, ate, watched, participated in, etc. But with the ever expanding and diversifying markets of the world today it is becoming easier and easier to start seeing alterations from this. In Kaplan and Langdon’s article “Chinese fandom and potential marketing strategies for expanding the market for American professional sports into China” (Kaplan & Langdon 2012). Marketing strategies are reviewed as one of the main topics. “One strategy of the NBA was to partner with established Chinese brands” (Kaplan & Langdon, 2012). This allowed the NBA to have an easy avenue for expansion as the market had already been developed. Take Nike for instance from the example. In Kaplan and Langdon’s article it is stated “China’s biggest seller of athletic shoes, Li Ning, recently surrendered its top position to Nike, even though Nike’s shoes – upwards of $100 a pair – cost twice as much. The new middle class ‘seeks Western culture’, says Zhang Wanli, a social scientist at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. ‘Nike was smart because it didn’t enter China selling usefulness, but selling status” (Kaplan, Langdon 2012). Basically when Nike came in, they did not say that they had the best product. They did not say they had the cheapest product. They said they had their product. Because of the interest by these Chinese consumers that was...

Eng 225 Week 2 Assignment

...Week 2 Assignment Instructor: Catherine Cousar ENG225: Introduction to Film One of the most beloved fantasy movies of all times that holds a special place within many people’s hearts is the famous “Wizard of Oz”. This movie is a musical that was created and directed by Victor Fleming in 1939 with the help of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Malcolm Brown, William A. Horning and Jack Martin Smith as the production designers (that were never credited) and Cedric Gibbons as the art director. (IMDb, n.d) This movie is about a young, girl from Kansas named Dorothy Gale played by Judy Garland who dreams of another life. Dorothy lives on her auntie Emily (Clara Blandick) and uncle Henry’s (Charley Grapewin) farm, and has friends named “Hunk (Ray Bolger), Zeke (Bert Lahr) and Hickory (Jack Haley). All of the mentioned friends play a vital roles as The Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), The Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) and The Tin Man (Jack Haley)” in the film. (IMDb, n.d). At one point, Dorothy decides to run away and find a new life with her dog Toto. During a storm and trying to get back home, Dorothy finds herself in a strange place, The Land of Oz. The scene I have chosen to analyze is “The Cowardly Lion” staring Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Lion. The importance of each character in the scene is the Lion tries to seem brave, while the Tin Man and the Scare Crow are scared of him. Toto runs away from him and Dorothy saves Toto. She teaches the Lion a lesson on picking on people...

Analyzing a Sociological Issue

...Modernization of indigenous culture is nothing uncommon and happens on a daily basis. Time is the only variation between subjects. Depending on many factors, a culture can be transformed over a long period of time or just overnight. The modernization of North America and Western Europe occurred during the 18th and 19th centuries and has since spread to many Eastern European and Asian countries (Macionis, 2011). Modernization is a combination of sorts, including industrialization and urbanization and is defined as the transformation of a society or culture from a rural and agrarian condition to a secular, urban, and industrial one (Macionis, 2011). Modernization is not necessarily modern in the general sense or a revolutionary view; it is simply the understanding that over time every society evolves into something greater. As time progresses, modernization allows that change to thrive and therefore, people of the society are able to enjoy a greater freedom and understanding of the world around them. These advances in culture and society have affected the world on a global scale. There are still vast amounts of different cultures and tribes throughout the world. The ones that have not yet abandoned their traditional values and ways of living are considered to be indigenous (Adamson, 1996). According to “Macionis” (2011), Indigenous cultures are defined as "having originated in and being produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment.”...

List of References 13 Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the medieval influences and aspects in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The movie emphasizes important elements of the Middle age. It is about the four Pevensie children, Peter, Suzy, Edmund and Lucy who entered the magic land of Narnia and with the help of Aslan, the Lion, fought the Wicked White Witch Judas. Thus they gave freedom to the other animals and restored peace and harmony in Cair Paravel and Narnia. The film captures brilliantly these moments and transmits them to the public. One of the main focuses of the film was the religious belief ‘Christianity’. The movie responds to the quasi- spiritual Christian beliefs and truths of good versus bad, highlighting the defeat of the Witch and her death. Secondly, it shows how the younger brother Edmund fell in the trap of the White Witch due to his “gluttony” of the Turkish delights and betrayed his brother and sisters. Last but not the least; the movie stresses another important aspect of medieval age “knighthood”...

Banksy, probably the most well known graffitist in the world says “Although you might have to creep about at night and lie to your mum it’s (graffiti) actually one of the more honest art forms available. There is no elitism or hype, it exhibits on the best walls a town has to offer and nobody is put off by the price of admission.”[2] The growing interest in Tibetan sculpture and painting nowadays is clearly due as much to their religious subject matter as to their aesthetic value. Major Depression

...have influenced Tara’s vulnerability in developing Major depression. A follow-up interview exploring her family’s mental health background is ideal in order to establish whether genetics or family history influenced her susceptibility. Similarly, in the follow-up interview whether there were any birthing complications, physical developments and more details on her temperament as child that could have affected her position. Tara’s gender as a female is also a plausible factor as females at a younger age are more prone to exhibiting symptoms of depression for longer periods (Jack & Ali, 2010). From an psychological perspective Tara shared how as a child she would spend a lot of time alone in her room in what she described as her own fantasy land. Tara’s personality structure identifies itself with neurotic traits that present themselves in various patterns of behaviour whilst also influencing her patterns of cognition. Tara’s emotional development from the early age of nine displayed symptoms of depression as she cried all the time and almost weekly would attempt to commit suicide by jumping out of her window. A significant predisposing risk factor in suicide attempts is the comorbidity with depression, involving over half of all suicide attempts (Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy Suicidal Behaviour, 2014). Although in the interview Tara does not specifically talk about her own self-esteem or...
