PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Meaning of portfolio:-
A combination of securities with different risk & return characteristics will constitute the portfolio of the investor. Thus, a portfolio is the combination of various assets and/or instruments of investments. The combination may have different features of risk & return, separate from those of the components. The portfolio is also built up out of the wealth or income of the investor over a period of time, with a view to suit his risk and return preference to that of the portfolio that he holds.
An investor considering investments in securities is faced with the problem of choosing from among a large number of securities. His choice depends upon the risk and return characteristics of individual securities. He would attempt to choose the most desirable securities and like to allocate is funds over this group of securities. Again he is faced with the problem of deciding which securities to hold and how much to invest in each. The investor faces an infinite number of possible portfolios or groups of securities. The risk and return characteristics of portfolio differ from those of individual securities combining to form a portfolio. The investor tries to choose the optimal portfolio taking in to consideration the risk return characteristics of all possible portfolios.
As the economy and the financial environment keep changing the risk return characteristics of individual securities as well as portfolios also change. This calls for periodical review and revision of investment portfolios of investors. An investor invests his funds in a portfolio expecting to get a good return consistent with the risk that he has to bear. The return realized from the portfolio has to be measured and the performance of the portfolio has to be evaluated.
It is evident that rational investment activity involves creation of an investment

Our pupils live in a media age, where technology is built into their lives, the days of waiting for a weekly magazine for the latest news has all but died with a click of button they have access to a wealth of information from varying sources be it bias or unbiased that is for the reader to decide. As a teacher it is becoming increasingly difficult to distract pupils from the latest celebrity gossip to highlight real world issues of race, poverty, sexuality, exploitation, etc., the pupils of today are uninterested in reading about these issues in text books so a new approach needs to be taken to open their eyes. The use of media texts in delivering development education issues to our cinematographic teenagers is the direction we need to head in. The type of media text used is a choice that has to be made by the teacher when highlighting these issues, the question remains should one use documentaries or blockbuster movies; documentaries by their nature are very factual, complex, have real life images and settings and can be difficult to watch; blockbuster movies on the other hand are produced for entertainment value, they must appeal to the cinema...

The Effects of Political Will to the Language Curriculum of the Philippines

...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND This chapter presents the introduction of the study, research and conceptual framework, statement of the purpose, significance of the study, scope and limitation and definition of terms. Introduction of the Study For more than 400 years, the Philippine educational system has been in constant change. From the show- and- tell method of our ancestors to today’s information age, schools have been adapting to the needs of the times. Likewise, since the formal introduction of free education during the American occupation to the recent Secondary Education Curriculum (SEC), the integral parts of our curricula have always been tailored to the needs of students (2010). In these changes, subject area content, teaching methodology and approaches, and instructional materials preparation are at the helm of constant revisions. Iringan as cited by Concepcion (2010) states, “to help the students cope with the rapid changes to understand and to succeed in the workplace we must design a curriculum oriental for tomorrow”. Curriculum Development is a monumental task. In a politically active community it’s like treading water in a hurricane while wearing concrete boots. In the present education scene, political action is the vogue; from outright lobbying to incidental persuasion, a school district’s curriculum is politically manipulated. Curriculum workers must learn how to function adroitly in such a political atmosphere (Hough, 1978). Philippine...

Classroom Reflection Paper

...She also motivated the students for meaningful learning, supplied materials and examples for the students to think about and draw inspiration from. Discussing this project with the teacher, I’ve got a few important issues and advices for implementing Project-based learning in the classroom. One of the most important things as she told me is to find a project that suitable for your class level. The class I observed was a very strong class of native-speakers, and they were able to depart from the school program and participate in this project. They even organized a special event for all the 8th graders in the end of the project to pull their attention to the global environmental issues, making competition between the classes for saving environment by using public transportation or walking to the school by foot or on a bicycle. But speaking of the weaker classes there is not always an opportunity to participate in this kind of global projects, it is better to keep them closer to curriculum and chose the projects that will be suitable for their level of knowledge. During my observation there was also a school project for all the levels for 8-12th graders. For a few weeks the classes have been working on their final presentation for different subjects, for example, 9th graders had a “ghostwriter project”, they needed to work in pairs to interview each other to write...

In most of the countries, being a manger is highly respected and people see themselves as future managers.
